Great haul! Goodwill outlet is priced by the pound. Idaho doesn’t have one but I have been to the one in Salt Lake City, Utah.

My group of friends (a few have sadly passed) were all roughly the same size so when we had a wardrobe clear out, we would all meet in one friends house with our bags of unwanted/unneeded clothes, hang them up and have a look through and picked what we liked from the other friends items. We could also try them on to see if the item fitted without the embarrassment of having to use a large, shared dressing room in a store. We didn't mind undressing /dressing in front of our group plus there was the added bonus of having their invaluable and honest opinion if something suited us or not....often followed by lots of laughter! Anything left over was donated to a local charity shop. Blessings to everyone from Suz in Scotland ❤🕯️🙏

Would you consider doing a tutorial on making pads I have seen a few tutorials on making them and thought it might be a project that would be benificial. I also used cloth diapers on all 3 of my kids my kids were 2 1/2, 1, and newborn so I had 3 in cloth for a good 5 years my oldest was 5 when he was potty trained because he was autistic. I loved cloth diapers and cloth wipes I saved so much money. I have seen people use cloth in place of toilet paper unfortunately with my autistic son I would be afraid he would clog up my septic tank. I love your thrift hauls you get lots of grest stuff. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Flat sheets are so handy,. I gave even made fitted sheets out of them. Lined coats with flannel sheets. Made curtains, hung them over doors to keep drafts down. Made draft dodgers for the bottom of doors.

What a tremendous blessing to find the clothes for 5$ a bag. I have had to take custody of my 3 grandsons since they were babies & now they are teens. I get no financial help with their food or clothes & live on SS. God provides but it is tough to stretch the money. I wish I could find deals like this! Happy for you.

I wish I were closer I would go shopping for you. If you would like to give me a town I can look around and see what I can find? Also if you are on Facebook look for local swap and sell sites. Yo on and ask for the kids size clothes SO many people here would just throw clothes in the trash.

I cannot begin to tell you how proud i am of you. Im 75 and housebound, but i do buy cheap dresses and things at TEMU. Ive lost 152 pounds and i cant see to sew on a machine anymore. But i bought sleeveless dresses for around $3 a piece. I just wear tee shirts long or short, under them.
Im going to be trying to hand sew the top of a quilt. With diamond pieces, im still able to hand sew. My anxiety level makes me shake, so im limited to what i can do. I ran over edges of fingers with my sewing machine. But i love to hand sew futsy little pieces for a pattern of a top quilt. Ive made 2 quilts in my late 60s. But i found out i have degenerative arthritis and i jerk a lot when using a machine. ❤😊❤

MommaBear2many, you are a great mom.
You know how to make everything and everybody something useful.
Your husband married a full package when he married you.
I love recycling clothing, blankets, curtains and hats into something prettier. I have taken socks and made a child's warm cap for my son when he was a toddler.
Just yesterday, I picked up my husband's knit brimmed hat off his bedspread that is tightly woven. I thought, wow, I could make a lot of hats with this when it gets older. No joke, in high school, I took a melon pink curtain and made me a pair of pants. I used an old pair for my pattern. I thought of Gone With the Wind and those beautiful velvet green drapes of which Miss Scarlet had clothing made.
A homespun Christmas makes the best memories.
    Merry Christmas

When buying used bedding watch out for bedbugs. Wash well in hot water in Borax. Freeze for at least a week if possible.

I actually bring to the laundry mat and put it on there HOT water which is way hotter then mine. Thankfully we have never had bed bugs or lice in this house. My laundry soap has borax in it so maybe that helps as well.

I have so many respect for all the things you can do….I wish I could do some of the things you do, I really am!
Like you I also make lunch for my hubby and he is always so grateful for that. People at his job most of the time ask him why he doesn’t makes his lunch and why I always put a treat in his lunch…
Most people at his job go out for lunch all the time and that adds up so quickly!
Next week they are installing a new office for him at our home and we pay that with money we saved due to not eating out, not going out for lunch, buying at thrift stores, etc.
Today I spend 20 euro for 3 sweaters, a scarf and a hat never been wore…I rather spend 20 euro at a thrift store for 5 pieces of clothing then for 1 thing in a regular store.
I like thrifting because it feels like a treasure hunt for me 😃🤓, you never know what you will find.
By the way, that dress looks very nice on you in my opinion ❤.
You are an inspiration to me…

I don’t know why some people are fussy to second hand clothes. The majority of the time they’re just out grown with plenty of wear left in them. I’m not proud and I love a good mooch around to see what exciting bargains you can find!! I love the heart dress which was second out I think along with the denim skirt. Do you find there so much less choice new and pre loved for boys? It’s so difficult over here the girls section is at least always double the variety. Great haul btw xx

Wow you did excellent. The thrift stores near me are outrageous. I’m in a bidding group on Facebook and I get lots of things I need and want for small amounts of money. It’s like a yard sale group but with a twist you bid on the items so it’s also fun. That’s one way I save money and I also sell things I no longer need or want so I make a few bucks too.

Are you ever forced to buy in stores a higher price because you can't find it at a thrift store?

    • @mommabear2many
      @mommabear2many  9 месяцев назад +2

Hum normally no because I think ahead of what we will need next. So like in march when all the winter goes on sale I’ll stock up for the following fall. I do buy all my husbands clothings brand new as he needs to wear specific items so his work clothing when wore out becomes his farm clothing. Except he has 2 church outfits smudgy nice jeans and shirt without stains. It takes awhile but after a few seasons you get in the rhythm of buying when things are at there lowest. If I see underwear or socks I almost always grab them if on sale!
