I used to read books by an author named Roger Zelazny until he passed away. His characters were the same type of character as Seamus ZELAZNY Harper here. Harper was always one of my favorites - Harper's humor, Dylan's quests, and Tyr's sarcasm will be things I'll always love about this show . I always wondered if Seamus was modeled after a Zelazny character , the middle name's gotta be a salute to Roger Zelazny.
rommie started as the hologram and then harper fasioned a drone into something that looks like rommie....she also has some degree of remote control over the ship
She's something like a copy of the AI in an android body. Since her creation, Rommie is shown to have evolved differently from the ship's AI. Rommie maintains a certain amount of individuality, and is distinct from the core AI to a large but unspecified degree; they are often seen chatting, disagreeing, and even arguing. Disagreements are often due to the fact that Rommie exhibits human emotions much more deeply and strongly that the logic-oriented core AI.
I love this explanation. I've been trying to put into words for my own understanding the difference between the Android and the ship AI, and this just sums it up perfectly. Thank you.
@@anonymousperson3153 and they to an extent have different personalities. The hologram and screen are more close in personality but even they have disagreed on occasion.
Keep in mind Rommie was built by Harper, starting with one of the maintenance androids and Andromeda's AI. He found the plans on that outpost with the kids who descended from the original HIgh Guard personnel on the base. He added the additional human emotions, along with all the human female parts, and super-human strength and agility. To his credit he also gave her free will. Thus she fell for Dylan and not Harper. He had a better chance with Doyle though, had the show not ended.
one of my favourites too, I must say Pitiless as the Sun and Ouroboros together with Machinery of the Mind are my faves, well not to miss out on the endings of season 4 and 5
What season was this from? I used to love this show although i have a hard time witching it now that Kevin Sorbo turned out to be such a right wing nut job.
Yeah sorbo sucks now, in does make it harder to watch andromeda and hercules but as he did the show before he became a nutjob it's easy to just pretend he did nothing after the show and enjoy it from there.
Harper is so adorable in every scene of Andromeda
Love at first sight❤

No way that name was a coincidence. And thanks. I'm gonna check out those books.
I love the look he gives Trance as he says "Open the valve - now." He was a great comic actor when allowed to be.
@1:46-1:52
"Harper....
....I'll keelhaul him in the morning."

@@Valeska687 Just as an additional point, there appear to be THREE versions. One on the screen, one in a hologram form and Rommie herself.
@@anonymousperson3153 and they to an extent have different personalities. The hologram and screen are more close in personality but even they have disagreed on occasion.
@@olavihekandjo2928 But its never explained how/why the holo and screen versions became different.

the beginning of 3x17 Vault of the Heavens, I think
Itto Ton yes your right its my favourite episode

wow i love it!!
noche buena
Wait, what was funny about that? I like Andromeda and all, but I seemed to have missed the punchline.
Eric Pfeifer the punchline was them falling over, it was meant to be kind of over the top
Bonehead... Sorta double humour it being a nietzchean(?) ... Double-bone-bladed humour might one call it even...
Get it?xP
Yeah my humour is my ownxP
When I hear bonehead in Sci-Fi shows I typically think of the Minbari in Babylon 5.
From which episode ist this?
If that was a "funny" clip I think I've seen enough.
Your comment is funnier than the clip. 😂😂
Well some people just don't have the capacity to appreciate TRUE sci-fi and humor
Okay
What season was this from?
I used to love this show although i have a hard time witching it now that Kevin Sorbo turned out to be such a right wing nut job.
Considering rommie mentioned the commonwealth, plus older trance it's probably season 3 or 4.

Glad I met him well before that all happened. Literally like 20 years ago.
