- After multiple failed attempts to contact this company about documenting their trucks and not hearing back, I was forced to stake out the yard... However, when I arrived shortly after 4am, all the daily running units were already gone. I was quite disappointed, but still determined to find one, so I started to look around aimlessly. After speeding all across the countryside I finally found a route, and shortly after that I found this truck. Luckily I was able to film in one of the more densely populated neighborhoods in this general area
Everything this company does is unique... They buy up ancient barrel side loaders, refurb them, and then put them on a gently used box truck chassis. By doing this, they can build a much lighter unit, and for way under 100k. All in all, pretty smart if you ask me. While these trucks have some benefits, there’s definitely some ways in which a rear loader would probably be better. But still, this is very cool to see in my opinion.
While I am not too familiar with these trucks, I do believe that this truck has been slightly modified from how it was originally manufactured. I don’t think they came with tippers, and I believe that the ability to “build up” the side as you get full was removed.
Huge thanks to the driver for allowing me to record this very rare unit. Авто/Мото
This is a neat idea, and it's cool to see a small company implement it. Maintainence for the barrel trucks is probably stupid low considering how simple they are. The chassis, being much newer and from a box truck, is probably going to haul a lot of trash before major repairs are needed. Much more comfortable too. The only change I would make is get a really high tipper, so you can dump a bunch of cans in there before needing to pack. Great video.
Watching this video, one can see why these barrel trucks did a fast-fade once wheeled carts became universal. These were never easy on the crews, but in the days of hand-loading they could hold their own and were economical above all else. The cart tipper addition here would work better here with a much higher lift, to take advantage of the body height; you could build-up the side doors and create a much larger usable hopper, decreasing the need for frequent packing cycles. I saw a crew in the mid-70s using a 27-yard Truxmore container loader on residential; they were hand-loading refuse on the passenger side opening. With the container side closed off, they could really heap the load up against the opposite wall. But it was hard work anyway, and nobody much liked these things for hand-loading. This is great nostalgia though, having last tossed refuse into a Truxmore in 1985. Back then, one of our other trucks was an E-Z Pack Goliath 370.....what a contrast that was!
Great video! I havent seen this truck in operation since my childhood which was the late 80s! Brings back lots of good garbage truck memories. Hope you can get more video of this truck.
I remember working on that type of truck, minus the tipper. At the of the day, we had the tires squatted after packing so much in.
Wow, this is an oldie. This type picked up my grandparent’s house in the 1980’s. Nice find!
Awesome video!! These trucks are just so cool, the circular body and packer are simply iconic. Combined with the mainstreamness of Zarns, this sure was entertaining!
I would love to work on that truck for a week. Even though the hopper would be a pain as the truck fills up.
At one time many years ago the City of Fredericksburg, VA owned three of these garbage trucks on Ford chassis. Trash and garbage collection was two days per week, except during the summer months it was three days each week. Crews would work ahead of the trucks collecting gunny sacks of trash, and plastic bags of garbage. They would pickup the refuse from homes and businesses, and then pile the sacks and bags either curbside, or in alleys out back of homes. The gunny sacks were emptied by the driver of the truck for reuse while the plastic garbage bags were used only once. This system made it much easier to operate since the truck crews did not have to lift heavy cans up to dump them into the garbage trucks.
Awesome find man! This seems like it works very efficiently and tbh I thought I would be the opposite. Amazing video all around!
Wow, truly unusual garbage truck.
Yea a a round durastar 4x4 side loader
Looks like a Fuel Tanker truck LOL😆!!
Awesome.
This truck is sweet!
Indeed a Awesome truck.
Goldsboro, NC? I know this company as well! Nice catch!
Great catch!! Any more in the future? Any close ups? Nice to see these classics still working.
Where can you find these packers? We have 1 truck with it.... but we also run front load trucks... and need to find another truxmore body with the container dump ability in NNY.
When do u plan on painting the truck
i know back in the day WM had some of those in florida or some state for commercial cant think of who's channel has them or if they still have the vidoes
Are you talking about the pervs vid of a pak mor CSL in Texas?
@@Trashmaster15 it was in Florida I think at a apartment complex doing commercial I think was George that filmed it I’m not sure. Another person filmed one driver made huge mess and left thinking it was New Mexico
That’s pretty neat but I see no reason why they need a helper tbh
Having a helper is nice because while he goes to get the cart, the driver can rev the engine to make it pack faster
It also packs from in the cab....
I use to work with my dad on one of these trucks the one with the side container loader i am trying to get this in a toy truck anybody got any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it
Beats a front loader that throws shit on top of itself and throws shit on cars driving down the road … republic 😂 I own two of these packers lol only thing my truck is as old as the packer
I think it is so cool how it bacicly lt looks like a repurposed cement truck.
Ugly truck.
@@centralflrefuse seems to pack pretty good even if you gotta pack it after 2 or 3 stops
Bro please stop hating on people! They try so hard to make a video and if you don’t like it, then don’t say it cause people worked hard to make this possible
Also this is for NJ Trash Man
for real, all he does is talk about what he doesn’t like. He’s never filmed a day in his life, so he doesn’t have much room to talk
