Wow these new rules are going to really clear up some of the grey areas my friends and I have been dealing with on serves! It makes way more sense to have a line to keep your feet behind instead of a line to keep your whole body behind.
Suggestion : Next time, for every clip you have of you trying something, maybe add a little checkmark or X to clarify if it is good or bad? Will keep the user's attention on what you are saying! Great content
I go play Spikeball every Tuesday at park Jeanne Mance in Montreal, Québec and I really enjoy it! Actually there's always at least 10 other spikeball groups at the park. It's such an amazing sport thank you guys!
woah. Those are some sweeping changes. I really like the soft-touch rule. Reminds me a lot of Beachvolleyball and feels like a good "buff" to defense. One big concern I have with the no-hit-zone is, that it seems to be an advantage for taller players. Not needing to be tall was imho a big strength of Roundnet. But lets see how it plays out
I like some of the rules of the SRA. Especially the new serving line and soft touch. But i don't like the no hit zone, it changes the way to spike too much, i loved to lean over the net. Exited what will be adapted by the IRF and our national Federation in Germany.
I think hitting will rely much more on strength and depth instead of angles. Which i think would be a good thing. Just kind of sad that they didn't make the rule universal and already some communitys saying they won't oblige by those rules. Also great Vid, hope you will return to Austria someday :)
How did the "no hit zone" work out while you guys tested the new rules? It just feels that there will be a lot of disagreements on this one unless you have an observer making the calls. Can't wait to see this stuff in action ... and actually be able to photograph it again.
Great video, but you forgot to send off your game point behind the back serve. Although, if you are able to do it from 7 ft out, I'd be very impressed. I have yet to land one at the adjusted distance.
Sorry I have a question about no hit zone. You mean we can’t jump across the no hit zone, but is it ok if I jump over when my body was inside the zone and feet outside the zone? I’m not so sure with this one because I saw it happened on pro finals 2021. So I’m a little confuse
You can step in it just can't hit the ball in the zone rather behind. And your body can't be over the no hit zone after hitting it but must be behind all times.
Could you make a video about how to properly set up the new circles and what tools and sprays should be used best? That would be awesome. Greetings from Germany🤘🏼
Soft touch is quite interesting. I’m glad the person can’t hit with it though. Not sure about the no-hit-zone though. Thanks for the update though. Awesomely clear!
This is a great explanation! The only question I am still a little confused about is what your said about jumping over the no-hit-zone. So you can or cannot do that as long as you don't land inside? Can I jump over the net (and no-hit-zone) and hit a ball onto the net as long as I land outside?
I’m still confused about soft touch. if you tried to hit it with your hand and you missed a little, is it still considered a deflection as long as the ball was on an upward trajectory and it came off your hand in an upward trajectory?? I though you had to be kind of planted and using your hand as more of a block then a hit but this seems like as long as the trajectory is up it’s still a soft touch
Can you dive across the net hitting the ball mid air into the net then land (hands face or however you roll😂) on the other side without any body part landing in it?
Question on the No Hit Zone: If you hit the ball while leaning forward, not feeling totally balanced, your instinct is to step through the zone to regain body control. However, you realize this is a violation, so you do a cork-screw flip which allows your feet (or points of ground contact) to remain outside the zone, while your body passes over the edge of the net and through the zone. Is this illegal? Since your points of ground contact remain outside the zone during the entire hitting process (even though your center of mass passed through the zone), it seems that it would be legal, no?
Friends and I are super confused about the pivoting rule. Are you only allowed one pivot step? Or are multiple allowed as long as you do not change your pivot foot?
I think you can switch your pivot foot, but you can’t lift it in when performing a serve. So, if you’re faking, you can change your pivot foot, as long as you don’t lift the foot on the follow through.
i feel that there will be a lot of discussion on whether a ball has made its downward trajectory or not haha... Guess we will see a lot of there and back agains in the rules in the coming years
Can you soft touch on the serve receive if you stand within the 7 ft line? E.g. goofy body block at 2-3 ft, probably mess up the receive, but maybe be able to get another pass in for your partner finish on
Do you think that if you jump while inside the hitting circle and hit the ball while you are in the air and land outside and establish momentum outside the circle after the hit that it is clean?
With the block do you have to be within the 7 ft circle to get the second touch? Or if you block it within the circle but it still goes up and out of the 7ft circle can you leave the circle and get the second touch?
Please help clarify... on serve, if your feet are outside 7 foot service line throughout service, but you contact the ball at, say, 6.5 feet, is it good or no good?
How would a tweener or a diving over the net hit (with a “perfect” set over the net” work with the no hit zone, would you have to jump from outside the no hit zone, over the net to the other outside of the no hit zone?
In the new rules, it says that as long has a motion is one action, it can hit multiple parts of your body, but also thay you can't double touch. Can anyone explain where the line is drawn?
I think the idea is when the ball hits your body twice inadvertently. For example, the ball hit your leg and chest on the way up from a serve. In this situation, the ball rolls up your body and hits multiple parts of your body. Technically, it’s not an intentional double touch.
Wow these new rules are going to really clear up some of the grey areas my friends and I have been dealing with on serves! It makes way more sense to have a line to keep your feet behind instead of a line to keep your whole body behind.
That’s the hope 🤘🏾🤘🏾
@@HOWTOROUNDNET Hi Preston, or whoever is running this awesome channel, am I allowed to crouch low to the ground when I serve?
@@YT_ESSTEE yes as long as any point of contact you have on the ground is outside the serving line

Noted!
I can see the No Hit Zone definitly doing work.👍
Maybe kind of difficult to impliment on sand though🤔
Perfectly explained....as always, thank you Preston
Happy to help!
Always Positive Preston! Such a great example of a national champion and ambassador of the sport!
Strength and honor!

You can still touch the ball in the air jumping over. So you can overcome it by being very agile
@@1nf3ct3dTT well, you can also overcome height advantages in Volleyball by jumping really high. Still almost all Pros are pretty damn tall.
Watching this after seeing a double hit in a video on Spikeballs channel. Great explanation!
Also...the no hit zone could be called the Lazy Susan :P

Absolutely love these rules, clear focus on getting rallies to be longer with less straight kill shots. The soft touch rule alone helps SO much.

I think it’ll be a transition, they gotta try it out, ya feel?
@@RyanGamingAndTuts hope so ;)
Wow this is kinda of a game changer. Preston explained it pretty well!
Good stuff Preston. I'll be playing in a tourney this Sat in Walnut Creek. I hope to spread the new rules around tomorrow!

Really hope they make an exception for body and hand of gods
Nice.

lets see if it catches on! i like
So no hit zone is a no step zone? Thanks for the video!! Really need this 🤘

Yup! As long as you both take off and land outside of the no hit zone you’re good to go
Any chance you could devote a video to carries? Like what is legal and what isn't when setting/hitting?
This helps a lot, it’ll definitely change how some games play out.

Let's call it the Lobster Trap Zone.
The No-No Zone
We already use that for the hand haha
khakis really putting out some dad vibes... did I miss something?

great editing on your videos
Let’s call it “the danger zone”
RIIIIIDE IIIINNNTOOOO THE. DaNgEr ZoOoOoOoNeE!
I’m not against this
Laaannaa!
Thanks Preston and Ryder!
The no hit zone is so you don't end up with broken parts and pieces. 👍
What if someone dives over the net for the return hit? Is that now illegal with the No hit zone?
If you’re diving over the net inside the no hit zone it’s good right because you aren’t inside the 1.5 on the floor? First like! Btw let’s go!
As long as you takeoff from outside the no hit zone and also land outside of it, hit is good yes.
i feel that there will be a lot of discussion on whether a ball has made its downward trajectory or not haha... Guess we will see a lot of there and back agains in the rules in the coming years
Could you please make another video with the new rules again. I am very confused by them when serving. Especially the roll-up.
Pickleball = Kitchen
Roundnet = Family Room
Or
The Ozone
thats crazy actually im hyped nice vid
I’ve been waiting for this video
I like “The Pin” for the 1.5’ no hit zone
Since your feet can’t go in the not hit zone, it reminds me of “The Floor is Lava.”
Lava zone.
Or PB&J zone, that’s fine too.
Question on the soft touch rule. After you block it within the serving circle, does the second hit have to be within the serving circle as well?
Nope! second touch can be from wherever you'd like
You did such a good job of explaining. Thank you!
Your welcome!
Can you soft touch on the serve receive if you stand within the 7 ft line? E.g. goofy body block at 2-3 ft, probably mess up the receive, but maybe be able to get another pass in for your partner finish on
Nope, can’t soft touch on a serve
Can you hit the ball back straight after a serve now???
If I can't fit the net but I can make the ball hit the other player, do I get the point? They touched it last is my thinking.
When I strike the ball, is it okay that it lands within the 1.5 foot zone?
yes! the ball can land inside the 1.5 foot zone
You should make a new video of you guys playing with the new rules! just to see how it change the dynamic an the rallies !
We did today! Video should be up soon!
@@HOWTOROUNDNET can't wait Preston!
Solid rule additions
Is a soft touch allowed off a serve?
sick video homie, thanks for the insight
super informative, thank you
This is the perfect new Olympic sport.
Do you think that if you jump while inside the hitting circle and hit the ball while you are in the air and land outside and establish momentum outside the circle after the hit that it is clean?
Nope, must jump from outside of the no hit zone
Quick question: are the consecutive touches considered one touch?
He literally said it’s two
I literally did say ( as John stated haha) that it’s 2 but always good to ask 🤷🏽♂️🤘🏾😜
Is the double contact on blocking allowed on the serve?
No
No hit zone is called Lava!
With the block do you have to be within the 7 ft circle to get the second touch? Or if you block it within the circle but it still goes up and out of the 7ft circle can you leave the circle and get the second touch?
The first touch must be within the 7 foot circle, second touch/set can be from wherever
How do you make the lines for inner and outer circle easily?
Is there still 2 serves allowed or is it just the one from the 7 foot line?
Still 2 serves!
does this mean pbies will be playing more this season?
Sure does, we gotta play soon now
I'm gonna need someone to gif me that 4:19 spot
If you take a soft touch that counts as hit 1 and 2 so your teammate would then have to play their shot to the net, correct?
Correct!
Please help clarify... on serve, if your feet are outside 7 foot service line throughout service, but you contact the ball at, say, 6.5 feet, is it good or no good?
This is good! Also nice name
How would a tweener or a diving over the net hit (with a “perfect” set over the net” work with the no hit zone, would you have to jump from outside the no hit zone, over the net to the other outside of the no hit zone?
yup!
if I'll be on the receiving side do I have to be outside the 7 feet mark too?
No, you can be wherever you want when receiving
👏🏻
Lack O spank zone?
or
Lack O smack zone? (PG version)
Very well explained
The no-no square
Can I attack my own block?
Some name idea: The Void Zone
Thanks!!!
Can you jump over the net while hitting it?
As long as you take off and land outside of the No Hit Zone!
2:48 So if you don't take a step your back foot can come up while serving?
I was wondering this myself too
Yes I think so. As then your front foot can be considered the pivot foot. Only the pivot foot has to stay on the ground I think
So my partner can hold me by the shirt or hip so I can lean further in the no hit zone to hit?
As long as your partner is also outside the no hit zone
I think we should call the no hit zone the “stove”
if I make an attack and the ball falls into the no hit zone, is the point valid?
Yup!
What's the idea behind the no hit zone?
To make hitting harder resulting in more rallies
The "No Go Zone" 😁
Not bad not bad
Can someone link a video on the official rules to spike all and not just updated 2021 rules. I’m new
Can we call it the bop zone
Not terrible

Some are fun some are kind of bad, i will miss the hand of gods
I vote we call it the pit
So is the soft touch rule allowed for serves too if you receive it inside the serving circle?
Negative ghost rider
Very solid question
What if i hit the ball and the ball bounce twice on the net?
illegal
@@HOWTOROUNDNET can i shoot on the net on first touch? (direct)
As long as you are outside of the No Hit Zone yes you can hit it back on one
