Jackie teaching and talking the crew through the choreography for the martial arts sequences is a work of art. Guys like Tom Cruise can brag about doing their own stunts but how many can create the choreography for their movies?
The information. :) Especially watching the director and Jackie discussing the fight scene, it was fascinating from a film-making perspective. Two very experienced professionals, Jackie being a legend, and how they approach the scene, on the fly changes, all that info. I am into film-making so I find the whole thing just....fascinating.
I love it when jackie puts that dude in his place about the gun logic. “Im a policeman and i don’t want to shoot my gun? Thats ridiculous” haha jackie owned that tool.
lmfao the stunt guy actually, in his pure sense, suggested that Jackie Chan who is a cop in the movie would throw away a gun because he doesn't want to shoot LOOOL
And that whole moment, Ken Lo is standing there patiently...and people don’t realize that this is the incredible kicking guy Jackie fought in Drunken Master 2.
The guys that stuck next to Jackie as he was going through that "losing the gun" sequence were all about that choreographed life, never missed a beat and ready for Jackie to whip them around. they even knew chris tuckers part very well all while doing it in a different language. AMAZING! the ONLY reason this movie worked is because EVERYONE was SO dedicated, im glad i looked up the behind the scenes. the end credit bloopers are so funny! i miss when directors had passion for thier work.
Those men are Jackie's stunt team members. They already know Jackie's rythm & speed. They go way back together. If you've seen Jackie's old films like Police Story, My Lucky Star, & Project A, you'll see some of them in the background either kicking Jackie's arse or got kick in the arse by Jackie.
All of these years later I've just finished the first RUSH HOUR and about to watch parts 2 and 3, can never get enough of the Master of Action, JACKIE CHAN
I think it would've been really cool if Chris Tucker was there when Jackie Chan was explaining the part about the gun. I feel like Chris would've backed up Jackie.
33:29 Jackie was so excited, he got carried away. He thought it's like in old time Hong Kong when the filming time can be extended, when actually the scene must be finished that day. Good old Jackie. Haha....
That whole section when JC breaks down the whole intricate choreography with only one 'important' question asked "Is this your gun?" 😂 J.C.'s response "I don't care" is perfect because really...who the heck cares? It's a comedy action film.
oh my God! Brett !! That was Jackie Chan a Living Legend, produced and also Directed a Hundreds of Action Movies,he know's what to do,he already have a lot of ideas in his mind, absolutely he didn't need you Men,that's the truth....And most of all Jackie know's what the Audience wanted to see...
Wow Jackie's action sequence is really intricate and detailed. If you're not paying a 100% attention and not giving your A game, don't even dream of appearing on the same shot with him, let alone working directly with him.
Wonderful movies!!! Great brotherly friendship, between Jackie and Chris, just wonderful to watch them together in anything, they are a great acting team!!❤️🎉🎉🎉🎉
I feel bad to Jackie Chan that he needed to explain whole action sequence but the crew seem didn't understand. After Rush Hour movie, I think Hollywood stunt coordinators started creating whole fight sequence using video tape in pre production and it easier to explain to director and crew.
@@Locadel2003 I liked Shanghai Noon, but man, the action direction in it is much worse. You can tell Jackie and his team had a lot less influence on how the fights ended up being shot (let alone choreographed).
That one guy who questions jackie about the gun 29:17 , like bro. A police throwing his gun it doesn't make sense. Like they really trying to teach JC how stunts work. Lol
Rush hour is one of my most favorite action movies of all time alongside oceans 11 and both chris tucker and jackie chan have the both awesome chemistry and both made me and my childhood laugh 😂 I used to own it on vhs at the time my mom and I saw rush hour 2 in theaters and my mom dad and I and my cousins saw rush hour 3 in theaters as well.
This movie series is one of my top 10 favorite Action-Comedy movies of all time, and I am a very hard person to please, especially when it comes to comedy.

21:14 that's a nasty wound right there, really is painful. But Jackie already got deadlier injury way before Rush Hour so probably he can still bear the wound like nothing
17:50 Lol. Jackie's biggest challenge is the English language and not even the death-defying stunts that he does in every movie. They tend to joke the same way w/ Pacquiao that some fights are easy but every American interview is a challenge.
@@KyleEvra Yes and he also didn't understand the humor of the U.S., couldn't improvise along w/ Chris Tucker (who is obviously gifted at it and was given free rein by Brett Ratner), and had a hard time understanding Chris bc he spoke too fast.

No disrespect Terry but you were pretty salty that u didn’t come up with something Clever as Jackie did. But then you said the same thing Jackie said that, somebody should kick the gun out the window! 🤣 That’s what he’s trying to tell you. Jackie was right to do a cool routine like that with chris! I could.
It would suck, it would be absolutely terrible, but, I could do it.
Jackie Chan was a understudy of Bruce Lee. He began as an actor with Bruce Lee in Hong Kong.
The making of the action scene was soooooo cool. So much goes into it and Jackie's a genius.
The pairing of these two was genius! Hands down the best buddy cop film and duo!!!
So true, they worked together like white on rice or PB & J
JC's stunt team is so dedicated, so professional! Just standing there but knowing everything that's going on, and does the rehearsal perfectly.
Ratner: "Is this your gun?"
Chan: "I don't care!"
Jackie's really had enough of that gun! 🤣
Fantastic. Watching how he prepared that action sequence, priceless.
