I tried downloading the latest stable build and the previous build before that. In both cases the game was stuck on the loading screen and the program went unresponsive. Did you encounter this upon downloading the game?
Same, I love ppl re-re-re-playing their favorite titles on youtube. Not a lot of channel actually do it, and they always try to do something different all the time. I love seeing ppl play what they like, the videos are far more fun, you can feel more energy into them
@@GameGod77 It works for me, it does hang on the loading screen for a bit and says it goes unresponsive, but if you just wait it should proceed as normal and you'll get past the loading screen.
@@Francois424 Yes, I can't agree more with the energy part. Watching people play games they love and talking about them, the energy is infectious. So watching ProJared play Megaman, Final Fantasy, and Zelda is fantastic. The pokemon TCG GBC games are also fantastic watches of his.

Jared, I never knew this existed. And now I’ve never wanted anything more than this. I watch the normal playthrough and the randomizer as my “chill out” day viewing, or when I’m sick, or bored, or it’s a day that ends in Y. It will be nice to have this playthrough in the mix too!
This is a perfect time to say that I would love to see you play Zelda II: Enhanced PC Edition by HoverBat. It's basically this but for Zelda II, just on a FAAAAR bigger scale.
I love how excited he is in the beginning as he goes over each of the new jobs and when he gets to bard he just stares and says nope! Glad to see that bards can still get the fuck out of the party even here!
To be fair, I've been using a bard in my run of this game (aptly named Jared), and they're actually pretty strong as a support class. They can provide a lot of solid, passive buffs. From standard things like increasing attack and defense of the party, to more unusual songs like boosting magic power, and increasing the party's luck while simultaneously decreasing the enemy party's morale. And given enough turns, they can get several songs going all at once. Not to mention that their MP regenerates every battle. The major downside though is that while they're singing, they can't do anything else. So in essence, you're effectively sacrificing a party member so that the other three can be stronger.
I'd love to see more Jerd, and this is how I wanted FF1 if they ever remake it into this with all classes being buffed in and out of combat P.S a perfect name for Rose's knife is a stiletto 😂👠🔪

Well, I'm already really excited for this. Cannot wait what you'll get after the class change. Ended up starting a playthrough with Dark Knight, Blue Mage, Monk and Evoker. Cannot wait to see what awaits me. I do hope not having a White Mage won't bite me in the behind sooner or later.
@@AllenLSwain From what I've seen so far yes, the Evoker is a perfect healer with one of the summons you get. On the second playthrough I started which consists of Thief, Green Mage, Dancer and Geomancer the Mage is pretty much useless, at least in the beginning. Regen does way too little and she seemingly only learns the passive White Magic.
@@nbHawkeye Just curious, but how are the controls for you? I started this as well and they seem to be bit of a mess. Like some of the buttons on my controller are trying to do multiple things.
@@justins7933 I'm using a wired 8bit do pad, under options you can map the controls, if something isn't working the way it should you can change it there. Had some weird issues as well like the party selection not being mapped or rather mapped to the right Bumper which that doesn't have, after that I tried JoytoKey which ended screwing things up a bit but after remapping the controls to my liking everything works just fine. Hope that helped. Which team did you choose?

For a long time I've been wanting FF1 classic but just with the bugs fixed. Still, I am greatly tempted by a party of Dark Knight/Red Mage/Blue Mage/Black Mage. I think I will have to get this.

Same. I had never even heard of this game, but decided to give it a try before watching this series. Not to mention I have a huge backlog to get through, which is why I'm over a month late. But getting to this point in my backlog gave me plenty of time to reach near the end of my run before watching Jared's. And I've also been using a blue mage.

Final Fantasy 1 is one of those NES games I tend to play at least once a year (along with Star Tropics and Bionic Commando). I just enjoy it that much. I still have my original game cartridge that I got when the game first came out, and it *still* works, battery saves and everything. I'd still say Final Fantasy VI is my favorite Final Fantasy, but FF1 is certainly the one I play most often. This one looks really cool! If I can figure out how to get it working, I'll surely give it a try. Definitely down to watch a full play through as well!

There's always something more satisfying about seeing damage going up in older basic RPGs like this in a way. Maybe it's because of the simple progression, but always liked seeing the difference a new weapon makes

I'm so here for Thief Jared getting super excited about treasure. Although in practice the "treasure sense" kind of looks like the Pokémon "item finder" all over again and that thing was a bit of a pain to use.

And then you showed the other classes and I must thank you for having the download link in your description because I immediately needed to get the game myself. Whenever projared does final fantasy content its like someone lighting a warm hearth in my home and setting up for a telling of a great adventure novel.
Just the addition of Blue mage has me interested. Hopefully there are a decent amount of abilities since Blue mage is my favorite job in the final fantasy games that it's in.

18:02 This is why I generally don’t focus on gaining EXP. You’ve been camping the forest around town - but I head for the castle and see how far I can get. Do a trip just for “exploration” and head right back to town - unless my group seem good enough to try the boss. I learned to loathe “camping EXP” because of the trend in FFXI 😭💙 Obviously, to each their style - But I’ve always lamented how no one I met in FFXI would join me for the adventure of one of the story missions - them choosing instead to camp EXP. I see, now, they wanted to do like you seem to be doing: camping EXP to do the mission later, Contrast to me pushing us to see what we can do and devising a course of action that adapts to the outcome.
If you plan to make this a playthrough I hope you go back and pick Blue Mage. Learning enemy skills is way more interesting than just dealing damage with Dark Knight or jumping with Lancer IMO. I do like that the Lancer uses the FFV spear attack animation though. Edit: Actually, do enemies have many unique skills in FF1? I'm curious to know how they designed the Blue Mage in this.

Can I add this to my NES Classic?
I tried adding it to my emulator on my steam deck and couldn’t get to run. Best bet is to do what Jared has done and play it on a pc.

I would have named thr dark knight "Durk" so that I could imagine this stoic, reserved badass with a derpy voice introducing himself like "Hi. I'm Durk. I'mma Durk Knit."

I loved watching the FF1 let's play back in high school. And I'm more than happy to watch another playthrough of FF1 with this new content.

This is why I generally don’t focus on gaining EXP. You’ve been camping the forest around town - but I head for the castle and see how far I can get. Do a trip just for “exploration” and head right back to town - unless my group seem good enough to try the boss.
I learned to loathe “camping EXP” because of the trend in FFXI 😭💙

But I’ve always lamented how no one I met in FFXI would join me for the adventure of one of the story missions - them choosing instead to camp EXP.
I see, now, they wanted to do like you seem to be doing: camping EXP to do the mission later,
Contrast to me pushing us to see what we can do and devising a course of action that adapts to the outcome.
If you plan to make this a playthrough I hope you go back and pick Blue Mage. Learning enemy skills is way more interesting than just dealing damage with Dark Knight or jumping with Lancer IMO.
I do like that the Lancer uses the FFV spear attack animation though.
Edit: Actually, do enemies have many unique skills in FF1? I'm curious to know how they designed the Blue Mage in this.
