Somehow, being 16 years old in 1983 i still thought things have always been the same and they always will stay the same, now that these trains have gone i would like to thankyou for bringing back these memories :)
Peterborough as I remember it, haven't been there since new platforms have been added. Great films you post on here Roy thanks for sharing them, always looking forward to seeing seeing your latest upload. Cheers Dave
I do wish we still had loco hauled passenger trains.. shame I didn’t get to see all this action but at least great people like you have recorded this kind of footage..
You can't see the tracks how from the bridge by Baker Perkins these days, unless you are eight foot tall. Not that there's the same variety of trains these days.
Wonderful without the catenary and although I'm not a fan of the blue/grey livery, I think locos should be green and carriages should be red or blood and custard it does give the impression of a cohesive railway unlike today's mish mash. That said it the best livery for the HST's. Great video.
Wow, some of the 'Brushes' parked didn't even have high intensity headlights on them. These must have been some of the last without them ?
The comfort of the 3 car Metro Cam. was never surpassed
00:55 never seen two buffet cars in a HST set before

Ahh, brings back memories of my childhood - open track, the roar of the Valentas, and the smell of hot diesel - brilliant!
Great! Interesting seeing the crossings at Helpston & Tallington when they were still relatively new, compared to how they are now!
Brilliant video, great achievements of british built locomotives, and not a Foriegn built one in sight.
Fantastic archive footage. I really enjoyed it. Thanks very much for sharing Roy.
Thanks for sharing Roy. Really appreciated. Hope you can upload more clips in the future. Cheers again.

Absolutely brilliant....again. Thanks so much!!!

Glad you enjoyed it Dave.
Them were the days! Thanks so much for sharing.
many thanks for memories of happier days we used to moan about everything been corporate blue but how many would go back to this if only
Me for one :) I always thought how well blue/grey suited the Mk.1/Mk. 2a coaching stock.
Definitely return.

No Deltics in 1983, they finished in 1981/82.
Another great video Roy. Shame there wasn't much freight but I guess you can only shoot what was about. Keep em coming
Yes that's what I thought when I was editing it, think it was taken on one weekend and there wasn't any freight about then.
I used to stand where you were at 18:30, Roy. Were you standing on the now-demolished footbridge at Woodcroft Crossing?
Yes that was the place Howard.

13:40 looks like a model railway
