    Thanks for tear down video dude. I have a 980 ti Hybrid who's liquid cooler sprung a leak so I ordered a reference cooler from Ebay and plan on just using just the heat sink out of it to get the card running again. Turns out all the reference cards are pretty much identical so I can even reuse my EVGA black and gold shroud..... lol

    If you have one of these turbine cards probably the best thing you could do is to buy a debunk card with three large fans with it's heatsink. You will need to modify it's chip placement locations to put the heatsinks properly over the chips. This includes the memory and phases. Altering the heatsink to fit this card will serve two purposes. 1. To let the card not to thermal throttle. 2. To lower the card temperatures by at least 20 degrees for longevity of component life. After a lot of work this pre-turbine card will be much quieter and cooler and function like it should have before an engineering error that you will correct if diligent. Possible liquid cooling can solve 1/2 the problem.

    Would it be possible to use a EVGA SC cooler on a EVGA hybrid pcb?

      Sorry for the late reply I was off the grid for 7 months lol but anyways its seems to be just Phillips heads, hex keys, and torx heads and I used a hot air gun to melt the adhesive to remove the fan

    Just out of interest, did you attempt repair or was it too far gone?

      It was too far gone lmao and I don’t have a hot air rework station either

    Are those white stickers replace-able? If so, what are they called? Are they called thermal pads, and, could they be replaced with thermal pads meant for CPU/GPU chip cooling?

    • @pkjk1255
      @pkjk1255 4 года назад +1

      Yeah, they're thermal pads. You'll often find them listed on sites as gpu, thermal pads, but I don't think they topically get listed as CPU thermal pads. CPU thermal pads are akin to IC Graphite thermal pads, but those pads are much thinner than these GPU pads. When buying online, you should be able to tell pretty easily if they're suitable for GPU's if they're thick enough

      @@Koozwad only reason I happened to watch this video is cause I came across a Kepler Titan for $75 on Craigslist 😂😂 Hopefully GPU maintenance goes well for the both of us

      @@pkjk1255 $75? Sounds like a steal. Have fun with it dude hope it succeeds. I think I will see huge temperature improvements as there is a LOT of dust on and inside my GTX 980(which is also my reason for watching this vid - I have a reference model 980 which is basically the same design as in the video)
