Bobby, you remind me of my father in law the way that you can improvise and make something as good or better than a product that you could buy off the shelf! By the time that I am able to build a greenhouse anywhere near that size you will have all of the bugs worked out! Thanks for doing what you do my friend! I think of you with every tomato sandwich i eat this winter!
i work for a green house here in ohio helping to repair and working on them. my main job was a truck driver, but with 7 acres under glass, i can really relate to your videos. when if ever i get the chance and a place to do it. i plan having a aquaponic green house. with catfish or tilapia as the growing media. so keep up the great videos i'm learning alot. hero GOD BLESS
@navajopa31 Yep...this was out of sequence. One of MANY videos that I just never got around to completing or editing. I have a bunch from last year that I wanted to combine, just haven't done it yet. Good to hear you're still rolling along. Theres a felt tape that can be applied to the hoops to cut down on the heat, thereby decreasing degredation. Guardian felt tape....I got it from Growers Supply. It aint cheap, but neither is the plastic.
I've followed your videos through my entire build. I'm headed to Ace to get my conduit for the roll up sides right now! God bless you and thank you for your great ideas and Christian ways.
Bobby...lookin good. Loved the idea of splitting the pvc couplins as curtain holder clamps...NICE! And the grinder...works great on the pvc, metals, woods, PORK...pork?? Did I say that?? LOL!! You've really made you guys a nice place, and what a teacher you've become. Love your place, your greenhouses, and most of all your ideas and work ethic! You're an inspiration to many my friend, and God Bless you guys!
Yes it does look real good. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I've watched 3 or 4, and with slight variations, you guys all have had the same idea. My son & I are about to tackle doing the sides of 3 48' houses. We are all set to put it together *except* that we couldn't figure out how to attach the pipe to the plastic. Thanks for including the info about the clips. That's what we need. And that duct tape is going to be very important.
I want to thank you for everything you do. You have inspired me to take my gardening to whole new level. Your videos are not only very helpful, interesting but fun as well. So, once again..thank you and God bless
Wow, great job. Smart way to make those clips. Thanks for showing how to do this job, both well and inexpensively. I agree -- I think your homebuilt one works better than the one you got from the kit. God bless you in all your efforts.
Oh my goodness. Wasn't even looking for this, was actually looking through quilting tutorials and this just popped out at me. Don't even know how I got here, but have been speaking with my husband about making a greenhouse. I've seen the first tutorial and will certainly look at all of them but I just wanted to thank you!!! I am so excited that a Godly man is showing his love and witness through the power of tutorials! God Bless You
@GreenhouseSalvation Good deal James. Its all a learning process. I keep looking, reading, trying to learn the things that I don't know....and thats a LOT !
That crank is pretty slick! I have a feeling that by next year, that will be electric and automated somehow. Just a feeling LOL Vibratory cutter? Splain that one! New to me!
Very nice Bobby.....I love how you always engineer things out of common stuff and make it work like it should.....I always try to use stuff I have or at least stuff that is easy to get to make things around my place without spending a fortune......Looking at your set up......you my friend are a thrifty genius....You do a great job.....Keep it up.....The highlight of my day is to see a new video coming in from mhp.....God bless......Tim
@timjturner Thx Tim. I spend a lot of time looking at catalogs and pics, trying to see how things go together. Then the wheels start turning and I come up with a way to do it without the expensive parts. Or at least thats the plan. I can't find seed for a money tree, so I have to be smart with what I have ! Mighty kind words too... comments like yours encourage me greatly. ;-)
@Alprofight I put some regular 6 mil plastic on the inside to create an additional air pocket. Just trying to get thru the coldest months then I'll take it down. Thx.
I use typical greenhouse 6 mil plastic. It's UV treated and designed to last 4 yrs or so. This was a homemade design, something I put together in my head. If I had it to do over, I'd buy a used GH frame on Craigslist, and go that route. Thanks.
Looking good! Beware of the reaction between poly film and pvc. Can't remember if it's static electricity or chemical reaction or what but pvc touching film eats it sometimes. This is going to be an awesome summer, bet you feel like a kid in a candy store with all that growing space.
@MelodeeRose Thx Mel. They are really quite simple. I always feel like if I can see how something is made, then I can find a way to produce the same thing, using different parts. :-)
To seal the curtains, I used the aluminum channels and wiggle wire. I had enough overhang at the bottom to allow for the strip and wire to be put in place. I keep it sealed up until I'm confident that I won't have anymore cold weather, likely some time on May. The wire is not too difficult to take on and off. You just have to be careful not to pinch or tear the plastic. Thanks Tony.
the greenhouse is real amazing looking! btw...we saved the seeds from your tomatoes last spring and named them bobby's heart (the heart shaped one...I forgot the name), and bobby's yummy tomato (you had told me the other was going to be yummier). Well, Bobby's yummy just sprouted ;)
@hoopmanlaszlo I've seen your setup Laszlo, very nice. I read a lot of the yahoo messages as well, interesting stuff ya'll were doing. You're right about the heat trap, I'll be installing exhaust fans up top before too much longer. Thanks.
@CelticSouthland Ah, no worries with that tool. Its a vibratory cutter, you can put your hand on the cutting disc and it won't do anything. I had explained that, but edited it out trying to keep the video as short as possible. Thanks for the concern though...very thoughtful of you. ;-)
@contreeman Aquaponics is very interesting. I'm working thru some things right now, trying to get a better understanding of the process. I don't wanna have a fish kill on my hands because of a lack of knowledge. Once I'm pretty sure what to do, I'll do a test run. Thanks.
@loislaney23 Yea, just pvc couplings.. one inch I think. I was gonna use pipe but couldnt find a size to fit properly. Yes mam, they did just fine. ;-)
Yes, I use the channels and wire to seal up the curtains for winter. In the spring, when I'm pretty sure the worst of the cold is over, I begin opening them up, one by one.
@TheSemperfidude Yea, I hadn't thought about the trucks wrapping a flatbed...similar deal. You're right, a small piece of pvc might come in handy. Hey now..those pants still got a couple more days of use...as long as my wife don't see them ! She'll put them in the trash can in a hurry.
@mhpgardener you are doing a fine job. As I mentioned to you before that I have a 15x24 hoop house also. I tried the skirt but unfortunately unless you have an opening in the top of the hoop house for the heat to escape, it becomes an oven with or without the skirt. The heat rises and stays as it has nowhere to go. I don't know what state you live in, but I am in Raleigh, NC and it feels like the tropics here in the summer. Plants get sunburn and heat stroke just like you & I.
I never did a full how to video. I just showed updates as I went along. Its totally homemade, built to withstand a fair amount of wind. I thought about it for several months before I started building. Its overbuilt somewhat...but I wanted it to last awhile. ;)
@JaxRL Yep, so simple even I could do it ! Indeed, this GH came a long way from when I first started. Almost done...whew ! I just had to say something about the pants...Def Leppard is my all time fav band. :-)
@rubbernecker13 I hadn't heard of any issues with pvc and poly. I do know that treated lumber will void the warranty though. Yes sir...with the extra GH space, I have a lot more options. Candy all over the place ! :-)
loved the video, were putting ours together now. one question...why do you choose to roll the side curtains "under" as opposed to out. I notice you kept a little "skirt" up at the hip rail, I guess to keep rain from getting into the curtain when rolled up. Love this design. Using all your great ideas. Thank you so much
The best video we watched yet. Keep making these. You are clear, well organized and easy to understand. Thanks a bunch! Got one on low tunnels in double raised 4x8 beds by any chance?
I think you're wrong about your curtain being "Not bad, for being home-made". On the contrary, what you crafted is Outstanding! Thank you for sharing your work, your progress, and for educating us. Mike
This is the best DIY Roll Up I have come across. Thank you for the idea!
I think you are the king of greenhouses :)
Bobby, you remind me of my father in law the way that you can improvise and make something as good or better than a product that you could buy off the shelf! GreAt idea I am a new farmer you are very smart love the project
You definitely have the ingenuity of a farmer.
LOL....Def Leppard pants. Thanks for the great videos. Watching them has inspired me to do more with my garden. Keep up the great work!

Brad Metcalf Those roll up sides really come in handy when it starts to heat up. Thanks.
@@mhpgardener I and everybody else misses you
It only gets better with this man! God bless you and keep up the good work!
Thanks for the instructional, will defiantly have to use that method in the near future.
Great video. More than a couple good tips. Thank you. Love the PVC cutting for clamps.
Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful. Bobby

@GreenhouseSalvation Good deal James. Its all a learning process. I keep looking, reading, trying to learn the things that I don't know....and thats a LOT !
good job... wish I had a greenhouse.. if I did, I'd copy your idea there for sure.
That crank is pretty slick! I have a feeling that by next year, that will be electric and automated somehow. Just a feeling LOL Vibratory cutter? Splain that one! New to me!
Very Nice!! Thank you for the demo on how to make the roll up side curtian. I have been wondering how to make one. I like your Green House too!!
Looks very professional. Thanks for sharing more of your techniques!

Awesome, was wondering how those went together. That isn't too bad at all. Thumbs up for the Def Leppard pants, LOL.
Excellent video. I really enjoyed it.
Looking Good Bobby!
Thank you sir. They have worked out really well.
@Alprofight I put some regular 6 mil plastic on the inside to create an additional air pocket. Just trying to get thru the coldest months then I'll take it down. Thx.

Just watched your "rollup side video" very clear and consise ...thank you for the help.

@03DexterHauler Thx. Cow projects? didn't know you were raising cattle. I still have plans for chickens, if I can ever get this GH finished.
Excellent job!!!
@NewDaysOldWays1 Thank you kindly !
Cool. Clips. I'm impressed at the roll up. Thanks for posting
@CelticSouthland Ah, no worries with that tool. Its a vibratory cutter, you can put your hand on the cutting disc and it won't do anything. I had explained that, but edited it out trying to keep the video as short as possible. Thanks for the concern though...very thoughtful of you. ;-)
Thank you. They have worked out great. :)
@rchopp Thx... I have to agree with ya. I'll eventually redo that first one....when its much warmer outside.
Finalmente, alguien hizo una explicacion completa, thanks for sharing it.
@contreeman Aquaponics is very interesting. I'm working thru some things right now, trying to get a better understanding of the process. I don't wanna have a fish kill on my hands because of a lack of knowledge. Once I'm pretty sure what to do, I'll do a test run. Thanks.

Wow very nice work!
You are doing gods work
Looks great bobby!
WOW!!! Great idea...thanks for sharing this.
Haha... I wish there were more like them..bands and pants both !
@KingRyltar Cool, and be sure to do lots of filming. I'd love to see what you were up to.
Yes, I use the channels and wire to seal up the curtains for winter. In the spring, when I'm pretty sure the worst of the cold is over, I begin opening them up, one by one.
@susannamcintyre Thanks Suzie. I remember the pink one was a Tsar Kolokol. The other one was probably a Rutgers..but "yummy" sounds cool !
@gardenvespers777 Hehe..hahaha..hohoho LOL I will see if I can work the polka into a future video ! Can it be polka music? :-)
Great video. You showed me exactly what I needed to know.
That's good to hear. If you need help with anything, just holler. Thanks.
@Backyardhomesteader Thank you.
@bradgray51 Thx..I hope you get one soon. They are quite enjoyable.
God bless you too, nice work

@TradionallySouthern Thank you much !
outstanding work!
very clever. thanks for sharing
Amazing invention 😮...
Great idea on the half coupling clamps. I can make those for about 15 cents a piece and they do hold better! Thanks buddy
Thanks so much for the video! This is so helpful. I'm going to make one out of PVC for a small tarp.
There is nothing on the other end. The pipe just hangs on the curtain.
I never did a full how to video. I just showed updates as I went along. Its totally homemade, built to withstand a fair amount of wind. I thought about it for several months before I started building. Its overbuilt somewhat...but I wanted it to last awhile. ;)
@jdizzilicious Haha.... The boys from Sheffield ruled the 80's...ragged jeans and all !
@Teddybearcop48 Yes sir...thanks !
@JaxRL Yep, so simple even I could do it ! Indeed, this GH came a long way from when I first started. Almost done...whew ! I just had to say something about the pants...Def Leppard is my all time fav band. :-)
@neuroleptika I think it'll work out just fine.
@suprsleep What I started with was a 14 x 96 that I bought used on Craigslist.
@GospelTruth37059 Hehe... I can scratch that one of my list.
@galegregory97comcast Had? Did they get blown out?
Thats a good lookin curtain , amazing how straight it goes up for such a long distance , nice work , so you gonna sing us some def leppard ??
@TheOntarioGardener I used the channel lock and wire. Once the cold is over, I'll just remove the wire and the curtain can roll right up.
Great video
@rubbernecker13 I hadn't heard of any issues with pvc and poly. I do know that treated lumber will void the warranty though. Yes sir...with the extra GH space, I have a lot more options. Candy all over the place ! :-)
One more job well done :)
@MarinePrepper Thank you sir !
@Learning2homestead Not too shabby for a farm boy. :-)
Well done.
No sir, not tough at all. After I get it rolled up, I put a long pipe in it to keep it from unrolling. You could tie it off too. Thanks.
The center of the hoops were bought on Craigslist. The side pieces are 1 1/4 EMT that I bent with a bender purchased online.
@lifeinthailand Yes sir..just like I had in mind !
@Allen2045 Haha...funny how that works. I think maybe I did a better job the second time around !
@MIgardener Not expecting? Oh ye of little faith ! LOL
@holtontwo Thank you, and you're welcome !
Looks great!! Love your pvc clamps, probably a lot cheaper too. You said they were a pvc coupler? (sp) Looks like they work great!
@Hard2HandleRandall Good to hear ! :-)
