      I always wondered how they made her look like she was floating..... she is basically rolling around on a piece of plexiglass with a camera above her while she removes the spacesuit. If you watch really really closely you can tell..... however, it truly is one of the best opening sequences of any film.

      The (radio) airwaves were alive with this sound. Though the 'visuals' are the complete opposite, listen to "Up, Up And Away" by The 5th Dimension. There was a creative influence through out the music industry. "Like To Get To Know You" by Spanky And Our Gang is a perfect example. Even flat out imitations, like The Monkeys incorporated that mid to late 1960's ambience.

    • @Woopaloops
      @Woopaloops Год назад +4

      Why? Why does it need a reboot? You just said it was genre defining and Jane Fonda nailed the role and that it was the peak of sci-fi sexual revolution cinema. Why take away from the masterpiece that is the original to create a soulless, subpar, attention leeching cashgrab? This is exactly what’s wrong with modern cinema. Just leave the classics alone for gods sakes. You want a cheap movie? There’s plenty of marvel shit out there.

    How do I become barbarella in the film

  • @centrearteditions6288
    @centrearteditions6288 9 лет назад +1

    Par quel miracle Roger Vadim avait-il atterri entre les mains du célèbre Dino de Laurentiis ? Son épouse Jane Fonda devait y être pour quelque chose, alors qu’elle effectuait régulièrement des allers-retours entre son pays d’origine et sa patrie d’adoption. On imagine son influence auprès d’un des plus importants pontes des studios. Séduit à l’idée de travailler avec le Français, il souhaitait un film commercial, sans palabres inutiles et efficace. Bref, il en voulait pour son argent. Il fallait que les dollars injectés se voient à l’écran et que chaque spectateur en prenne plein les yeux, quitte à se lancer dans une débauche de trucages saisissants et d’innover en matière de narration. La Nouvelle Vague commençait à lasser un peu partout, même si le cinéma américain ne l’avait jamais vraiment étudiée de près. La commande était claire et ferme à une période où les James Bond faisaient la fortune de la famille Broccoli. Pourquoi ne pas adapter « Barbarella », la bande dessinée futuriste de Jean-Claude Forrest, et lui en confier l’adaptation, la création des costumes limite fétichistes et des décors ? Roger Vadim ne s’était jamais lancé dans un film de genre et il craignait de ne pas se trouver à la hauteur. Les effets spéciaux mécaniques, le rythme trépidant d’un serial et la mentalité américaine l’effrayaient un peu. Puis, la science-fiction n’avait jamais été sa tasse de thé. Il préférait les univers noirs du registre gothique aux districts futuristes et les références littéraires à l’emporte-pièce. Heureusement, Jean-Claude Forrest lui a mitonné un script sur mesure, mélangeant le kitsch, l’érotisme et le second degré dans un cocktail détonant. L’homme était connu pour son travail de dessinateur. Né en 1930 et décédé en 1998, il bénéficiait d’une imagination débordante et adorait tracer les contours d’héroïnes sexy (Marie Mathématique, Hypocrite, Bébé Cyanure) aux formes avantageuses, peu vêtues et confrontées à des situations explicites. De la sorte, Barbarella correspondait parfaitement au cliché de la femme au sex-appeal troublant, peu farouche et qui préfigurait celles d’Hugo Crépax et de Manara. Impossible d’oublier le générique au cours duquel Jane Fonda se livrait à un strip-tease galactique en apesanteur et dont la réputation a énormément servi à la promotion du film, avant même que la post-synchronisation ne soit achevée pour les territoires francophones. Voulant faire bénéficier Michel Magne de l’aubaine de cachetonner chez l’oncle Sam, Roger Vadim lui a soumis le découpage du film et lui a remis le timing des parties à musicaliser. Rien de bien compliqué lorsqu’on travaille au piano et qu’on teste ensuite ses trouvailles en les confrontant au premier montage. La description des situations impliquait une partition moins académique que d’ordinaire, louchant dans des sphères autrement plus hasardeuses. Cette fois, il refusait de décalquer les classiques et devait impérativement revenir à une écriture plus moderne, en mâtinant ses thèmes de sonorités surprenantes et en métissant les influences. Depuis ses musiques tachistes, « Barbarella » (1968) l’obligeait de nouveau à se remettre en question et de tout mélanger dans un joyeux capharnaüm. Le concept voulait que les époques soient effacées et que le futur soit suggéré plutôt qu’imposé, cela pour éviter une impression de redondance. Peu familiers d’Hollywood, tous deux ignoraient que les majors dirigeaient les productions de bout en bout et qu’ils faisaient office d’entrepreneurs, qui élaboraient un projet en faisant appel aux meilleurs artisans sur le marché. Se permettant de licencier, moyennant des indemnités de rupture, lorsque l’un ou l’autre avancement ne semblait pas correspondre au devis.Finalement, Charles Fox a écrit la musique originale.
