I knew Jeff's dad David when I was working with Tony years ago he striped my old Harley flh shovelhead in his driveway he did an amazing job great guy two r.i.p Dave!!
It’s interesting talking about where the boxed stripping style originated. If you look at early steam locomotives. Some of them have the boxed stripping on them as well. It’s been a classy thing for centuries!
Wow nice work, as a kid in Norwood Mass. my neighbor painted signs for the city in his garage. Al Watson was his name and I loved hanging out over at his place helping and and learning ( getting in the way 😂) There was a stack of miscellaneous signs on the side of his garage that were for certain signs the got trashed regularly and the city guys would stop by with the junk signs and grab new ones weekly.😂😂😂 Also around 5 pm the hot rod ,dune buggy and the motorcycle guys would show up and paint ,pin stripe and the that awesome gold leaf 😃😃😃😃👍 I loved it as a grade school kid that would sneak a beer with the rest of the men. I felt like a big shot 😎😎😎😎 man do I miss the America I grew up in. I just wish I had that bicycle back. It had the best 70s paint job and I didn’t even have a lock , didn’t need one.🎉🎉 🇺🇸 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 ✌️✌️✌️😎😎Thanks for the memories Mike, oh yea tell Tony I’m still waiting on a shirt and hat combo. It will be great advertisement for his company out here in the Rocky Mountains 😂😂😂 God bless all you guys back in my hometown 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I miss that dirty water Boston you my home 🎉🎉🎉. ✌️out
The truck is beautiful and the lettering is fantastic. I used to love watch the guy who lettered the new trucks my dad bought for the family business. Watching him and this guy feels like there’s actually Zen to this.
That's a nice view of a real old school pinstripe job. I lived in Waltham for many years and loved seeing Cardillo's immaculate trucks running around town. Thank you for posting this.
Wooooooow, now it's starting to take shape and your vision is really coming to life with the pin stripping. Pin stripping is a dying breed. Not a lot left that are doing it. Down here in Maryland we have like 2 guys that do it still. But nothing like old school hand pin stripping.
Stunning work. I run the Mass Pike coming in from the NY side every other week day and the closer you get to Bean town the more prevalent the pinstripes get especially in the dump truck construction type vehicles. As for Europe in the South West of Ireland where I’m from it’s not that popular as we are more into actual paintings on the side skirts and back of cabs. Moving up towards the north pinstripes are popular. England Scotland and Wales have their own styles respectively with my personal favorite the Scots. Steven’s Transport out of Wick having pinstripes and the Tartan banners all over the trucks. Over in mainland Europe the Dutch have nice striping patterns but definitely the Scandinavians have some of the most intricate patterns with a lot of old Viking style writing. Over here in the US it started around New England in the Colonial times as the ships would have sign writing and stripes. This filtered down to the wagons used to haul away goods from the docks and just progressively made its way through to modern times.
As a kid I got pulled over in Norfolk Mass and the police chief was blown away by my low license plate # and offered me 500.00 to turn it in so he could get it ? Well not a fan of the boys in blue I said nope 😂😂😂😎😎😎😎 and in Massachusetts the lower the plate the bigger the clout 🍸 so I never got pulled over anyway LOL. The plate # was B37 😂😂 when I moved away 34 years ago I gave them 25:29 to my dad and he went sold them to chief 😂😂😂😂 got 800.00 for them and split 5 for me and 3 for him 😂😂😂😂😂
Tony is funny 😂 Anthony the ball buster I thought he likes wearing skinny jeans to squash them. Gotta have a steady hand being a sign painter, he's did a good job on your new ride.
Squirrel hair brushes? Who knew? Learned something! Being born and raised in NJ right outside of NYC area I've been seeing the paint and never really soaked it in. Yeah, gonna be 63 in May and still learning. So, truck 84 is the 84th truck they've owned? Whatta you mean "" when is she due""? Like due back? Or, due? Alrighty! Let's go back to pin stripes and squirrel hair brushes. Nice ride, great family experience being adopted by a family that has a family tradition like yours. Safe travels and God bless
Man we don’t have trucks like that down In Florida. Everything’s vinyl, graphics and the occasional painted flames on the hood. Maybe one day if I ever have my own fleet I’ll pinstripe them all.
Its crazy that they can tell who did what. I got some lettering on my 57 Diamond T. Which it already had some pin stripping on it. Jeff Dastrup from St George, UT. Looked at what was already on it and Jeff knew exactly who did the truck the first time. It kind of blew my mind.
Pinstriping is definitely a lost art. My late great uncle. Did this as a side job,he was also a Burlington Massachusetts police officer. That classic New England boxed striping and spaghetti work ,he did that. I believe the old Winn trucking out of Woburn, that was his work.
My Pops used to stripe up his trucks & cars too, But it was the vinyl pinstripe you could buy at auto paint suppy & some auto parts stores, & I've done it too, He had a few friends that did paint pinstriping for him but not that boxing style like that, but I'm in Alabama, we have more of the hot rod pinstripes & maybe boxing style on the hoods of big trucks.
Wow. Thats a great paint job. It looks so nice. Hope to see you at a truck show near to N.H. or if your eclipse Peeping. Just stop and say hi!!! Take care MIKE!!
Gotta respect the vibe! I get it!! Those tank stainless has a rolled finish. You can polish it out .. to a mirror if you wanted. I would say some kinda orbital buffer.
My brother in New Jersey and us still do box lettering with trucks. My brother in New Jersey still does it. Here my sons on 35 percent box rest all vinyl. Graphics pop out
Rhode Island Saying Hi 😊 .Your New Ride is impressive 😮 .You have to get Tony , and Anthony behind the wheel video , and Anthony has to be uncut , bleep some out 😂
Hello Mike beautiful truck I've been watching your videos good job I drive a w900 L here in Michigan pulling a set of five and threes i was wondering what is the wheel base on your truck?
I’m from New England but moved to Montana. Now I can’t find anyone to paint my trucks. It is a serious problem. I might have to fly someone out just to get the trucks and trailers lettered up!
You should really consider having the front of the fenders and the ends of the tanks covered with a clear wrap like Expel to protect it, you'll never see it and it will prevent chips.
Stripes look awesome!…truck is coming together….those elbows at the bottom of the stacks…I’m just not feeling them…something wrong with that…they’re like galvanized metal looking….plus the bends are different on each side and they tucking in right under the cab….wish kenworth did better on the exhaust, even if it’s a dummy!
Tonys sense of humor is great he just laughs at everything 🤣
Boy I love the New England style, outstanding work and colour combos. Looks awesome
I knew Jeff's dad David when I was working with Tony years ago he striped my old Harley flh shovelhead in his driveway he did an amazing job great guy two r.i.p Dave!!
I'm happy to hear this.
I Love When It's Story time W/ Tony. Trucks looking great Mike
It’s interesting talking about where the boxed stripping style originated. If you look at early steam locomotives. Some of them have the boxed stripping on them as well. It’s been a classy thing for centuries!

I was holding my breath too. Haha 😅😂
😂

You bet, thanks for sharing the story with us and I'll let Tony know to get on it.
It's a work of art. The Cardillos are top notch and you definitely keep the trucking spirit alive in senior.
The truck is beautiful and the lettering is fantastic. I used to love watch the guy who lettered the new trucks my dad bought for the family business. Watching him and this guy feels like there’s actually Zen to this.
Wow! So cool. Most companies would not want to spend money doing that. It shows how much the Cardillos take pride in their company.
Senior cardillo is a hoot..... pin striping, spot on 👍🏻👍🏻....guy doing an amazing job
You're making that truck too beautiful to run everyday!😂❤
I know!!

Looks great! Be carful not to polish the pin striping off! I ordered the Bull Dog for the hood! Enjoy, you earned this!
Awesome thank you!

Florida pays too cheap to ever have anything like this

Gotta respect the vibe! I get it!! Those tank stainless has a rolled finish. You can polish it out .. to a mirror if you wanted. I would say some kinda orbital buffer.
I'm planning on it
Flannel Phil is very good pin striped with paint !

Hello Mike beautiful truck I've been watching your videos good job I drive a w900 L here in Michigan pulling a set of five and threes i was wondering what is the wheel base on your truck?
Thank you I appreciate it. My current truck is 230 my new one is 245
They used to sign write with paint back in the 1800’s and pin striped and scrolled horse and buggies
Von Dutch the godfather of pinstriping and I have von dutch style pinstriping as a tattoo on my right arm from my wrist to elbow.
That's really cool I actually was watching an old RUclips video featuring Von Dutch recently.
Von Dutch was a pinstriping god to many and a trend setter in the pinstriping world
O hell yeah 💯
Drove a 5 and 4 twin stick in an autocar roll off. I laugh when "drivers?" Say they can drive twin sticks. Super easy.
I use to haul produce to Huntspoint Ny and Boston they all had thiie spaghetti stripes
How do you expect to keep the paint nice on the front of the fuel tanks? They are bound to get chipped up especially towards the bottom.
Clear coat them with invisible film
How will u stand it when you drive the first time with the new truck in the rain, Looking good Mike
Are you going to change those dual elbows for the mufflers to chrome?
It's on my list.
I’m from New England but moved to Montana. Now I can’t find anyone to paint my trucks. It is a serious problem. I might have to fly someone out just to get the trucks and trailers lettered up!

Planning on it
I always thought people in the northeast were rude and not friendly, seems everyone there is super friendly and cordial ☺️
Hey Driver, will that single stack exhaust “issue” be addressed at Cappello’s? …asking for a friend
18:40 somebody pick that creeper up, before someone trips over it !
One day premiere works so good
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ohhh would you look at that! Just look at it
😜😜
The first trip to a muddy pit is really going to suck.
It'll be alright
It's looking good Mike, needs more cleaning
That's the plan!
❤❤😂😂🎉🎉🎉💯💯💯
2:47 is the truck getting chrome stacks? That plain piece of pipe does not match the truck.
how is the truck number determined?
So this is the 84th piece of equipment purchased since 1948
Stripes look awesome!…truck is coming together….those elbows at the bottom of the stacks…I’m just not feeling them…something wrong with that…they’re like galvanized metal looking….plus the bends are different on each side and they tucking in right under the cab….wish kenworth did better on the exhaust, even if it’s a dummy!
They'll probably be chrome next time you see it, maybe.
@@TheBostonTrucker I knew you didn’t like that either!
Mike should be on the door
It's looking good. I think I'd prefer to be in complete solitude doing a job like this. I'm with you on the new decal, Doesn't really fit the truck.
Tell Tony to letter the Autocar
