I have a Prius and let me tell you, when you going flying past a cop in heavy traffic they always go after the other guy. My Prius is one of the best cars I've ever owned. Many of my friends laughed when I bought it. I have always driven 911's, M3's, Mercedes. I do keep my M3 for fun weekends and road trips, but the Prius is my daily. I've made runs from Augusta to Atlanta averaging over 90 mph and still have more than half a tank. Meanwhile my M3 will suck down all the gas and need a refill. I'm inspired!

Wouldn't surprise me if he kept calm, provided a short, concise, plausible story, possibly scripted based on location; most officers would probably him that slide due to his demeanor. What a story. Well done! Once I drove the entire way from Berlin to the small town 50 kms from Riga (in the direction opposite to Berlin from Riga, but at that point any additional or subtracted 50 kms didn't count) here in Latvia, my home-country - without stopping - alone - which was a memorable experience. What kept me from sleeping was a large bottle of regular Coke - and loud music. Anyway. Been listening to these Cannonball stories and enjoying them. The next record-attempting guys (or girls... but... most probably guys) should keep in mind that any stop for fuel - basically negates most of the speed you can make, even if the stopping time is shortened to an absolute minimum. Which is why you should evaluate a powerful but economic diesel (the bimmer 535d Touring comes to mind) - with additional let's say 300 litres of diesel fuel in an additional tank. If you tune the vehicle, you can get close to supercar speed and acceleration - and still maintain very low fuel usage - plus, the car will still provide plenty of space for 2-3 people and all the gear. All that means you should be able to cover the entire coast-to-coast non-stop - with a lesson from this gentleman - to rig additional container for windscreen washer - which shouldn't be complicated. All in all - there's still room to grow (or shrink, to be precise) for the records. Thanks for the video, best of luck from Latvia.

What I respect most about a solo run is physical accomplishment.
Im not saying its like mounting everest, or achieving some impressive military operation, but its the same idea of a human feat...
Grueling, simple in concept, hard in accomplishment, with layers of easily unseen thought and calculation.
mistakes are critical to the end result.
Something that would leave you fulfilled and proud, and something your family and friends would be proud to know you for.
    Congrats on an impressive feat!

I love this man’s approach and thought process. I have a dream to make the coast to coast run solo in my 03 Mustang GT. I’ve driven the car 1,800 miles over the past week just crisscrossing Pennsylvania from Philadelphia where I live to western Pennsylvania

It is an incredibly competent highway car the Prius. Not necessarily the most fun car to drive, but at 95 mph that doesn’t matter too much. Congratulations on your record breaking achievement.

What's not fun about gobbling up miles undetected? Haters don't try to block you and cops don't think to stop you - all because you're practically invisible!

I have always wondered about the theoretical cannonball time with a really efficient vehicle and this must be in that line. Exactly what he said at 5:20. With the E-cvt the car has, the efficiency stops once your rev past the maximum torque point so I guess 100-110 is where it reaches that
