Is because You can appear with a disk full of images. They won't never let You use an extenal unit to play ganes. Without jail break. Also won't let digital canivalice sales of the standard one
Though the system software support external optical drives, games will still simply not work, except doing some illegal modification. Most game consoles' optical drive is customized in order to check if the disc is pirated or not using some proprietary watermarks that cannot be easily replicated or recognized by normal optical drives
My guy thinks they'll do that probably... they will never let an unknown external device be able to play games... it's asking for piracy problems... I bet also that the BD drive of the PS5 has some security check.
Sony should make a one day pass license with ps4 and ps5 disc for ps5 digital, that input a ps4/ps5 disc in ps4 to allow ps5 download those game digital but limit license per day after check the disc in ps4 online.
The funny thing why they sell the digital version for 300 and the disk for 600 it’s so stupid just because of a disk in a perfect world they should be the same price
I wouldnt be surprised if sony repeased a blu-ray accessory for the digital edition, i dont worry about it tho because i have the physical edition. Altho if they release a blu-ray adapter accessory for ps3 and older i will definitely pick it up
I'd buy the blu-ray drive. They owe it to their customers to do this since we all have to scramble for whatever we can get. It's their fault there is low supply and we are still paying a ton for these systems. The least they could do is give us something to play our bluray disks & DVDs.
It's just... easier to tramper with something outside the console to try to jailbreak it. Even if sony released an official external drive, I think they would try a lot of security measures and people would easily be able to open up and check how to bypass that to run their codes into the Ps5. That's why I doubt this will work. If you want a disc edition, buy a disc edition. After all, after the PS3 PSN store fiasco, I'm not trusting Sony with any digital purchase anymore. The I prefer the risk of having the disk broken after fifteen years with it than the risk of losing my games because Sony decided to shut down the servers to cut costs making me lose my purchases. Even my old PSP Games I can't download anymore XD
Truth be told. The PSP is like 17 years old, did you even think is was gonna last any longer online? Also i agree that a PlayStation jailbreak is the best option for us all
There will never be a Sony supported version of an external drive to play discs. Especially not from some random manufactures. Take a look at the protections that have been bypassed in all the previous disc based consoles over the last 30+ years.
OK Let me explain that to you. PS5 Games like PS4 and even PS3 use BDROM Mark to identify Games, its a Security Mesure that can be customised by manufacturer. They use that to identify Region, Backup, Serial Number. Its a Copy Protection, Thief Protection, and More. That's why your external can't read PS5 Games nether PS4 or PS3, your BRDrive here can't read the necessary data for the PS5 to understand what it is. For PS2/PS1 these disc is not even normal CDROM/DVDROM but customised one.
For sure they could activate it for DVD, Blu ray and 4k Blu ray but not for games becuz that's the whole point of the digital edition you bought it to play games digitally or from a external drive...now movies that's upto Sony they could do it but who knows if they will highly unlikely anyone will crack a digital ps5 anytime soon, so either wait for a surprise update that enables movie playback only on digital ps5 or just get a 4k Blu ray player.
It literally took me a year before I was able to get my hands on one. I’ve signed up for Sony direct like 5 times over the past couple months an never got an invite to try an buy one but turns out that they make the decisions off your PSN usage an the ps4 was always used on my kids log in an last time I used mine was on my ps3 in like 2015 so that was a no go an that was sorta disheartening but then the small town I live in is just large enough to have our own game stop an I went up there on thanksgiving bout 20 mins before they opened and was 19 in line and they had 25 disc versions but ya had to buy 3 games along with it an a year subscription of the PlayStation plus but they was all decent games that I would of bought anyhow so don’t give up you can get one it just takes some work to land one. Things awesome in my opinion will worth it but the one thing I hope they do in the updates is backward compatibility for other then ps4 games as I have the original ps3 that I bought in 07 so I have lots of ps1/ps2 as well as ps3 games to play an would rather not have to use my ps3 an just use the ps5 for them all it’s sorta redundant for them not to as I think it would open the door for even more to want one especially if they can have a better console an still keep all there game collection even if they don’t play them often just to have the feature if ya feeling nostalgic from time to time.
They should do a sold seperately, PS3 Detachable Disc Drive for the PS5 slim which allows, well, you to play PS3 discs and in extension Playstation 1 and 2 discs without errors but physical PS4 to 5 discs are unreadable by the Disc Drive unless its the default PS5 slim disc drive
This is the reason why digital consoles are cancer. I bought a disk version because I want to be able to share games with my friends and family. Also, used games are cheaper and often times, PS4 niche games like Gravity Rush are much cheaper when bought physical. A future where all console gaming is digital, is a future I won’t be a part of. I doubt Sony will support external disk readers considering how they now require you to connect to the internet to use even the disk drive that comes with your console.
There not gonna make a blue-ray disc dive work for a console that was made mainly for digital reasons if u wanted a disc u should have gotten a disc one but I do understand it's hard to come by
I was wondering this back before I got my ps5. Bc I could've seen myself buying a digital if I couldn't get the disc version. Does it work on a digital xbox?

Is because You can appear with a disk full of images. They won't never let You use an extenal unit to play ganes. Without jail break. Also won't let digital canivalice sales of the standard one
This is one of the reasons why I wanted to own the physical version of the PS5 even though it cost almost 500 dollars though 😥
Sony should make a one day pass license with ps4 and ps5 disc for ps5 digital,
that input a ps4/ps5 disc in ps4 to allow ps5 download those game digital but limit license per day after check the disc in ps4 online.
It’s not really their fault for it selling out. That would be resellers and people who got like 50 different ones
Can you make same with xbox series s?
Lmao bro was determined🤣
Does a blu ray drive work with a ps4 not digital
Ps5 games use uhd disk. Is that a uhd blue ray drive?
For sure they could activate it for DVD, Blu ray and 4k Blu ray but not for games becuz that's the whole point of the digital edition you bought it to play games digitally or from a external drive...now movies that's upto Sony they could do it but who knows if they will highly unlikely anyone will crack a digital ps5 anytime soon, so either wait for a surprise update that enables movie playback only on digital ps5 or just get a 4k Blu ray player.
Maybe the drive is pulling more power than the system allows the USB to pull?
Nice job I watched that video you first made go to know it works now
Question. Can I use this blue-ray drive on PS4 pro??
If u have money.. its totally worth it to play the disc version as u can still play digital on it..
Thanks for doing this!
Thanks for the information, just wondering about it
What if you bought you used a custom ps5 cover with a disk slot
With sony being sony you really think they would let a non liscenced drive work? I appreciate you trying though, if you don't try you'll never know.
this is actually good news i was wondering ab this so thank you very much
I suppose that would be impossible for prevent piracy and because of the need of drivers
you might migh have issues with an el cheapo bd player as it will need to support the latest blue ray standard for the bdrom to read correctly
Keep tryin man hope someday will work
They should do a sold seperately, PS3 Detachable Disc Drive for the PS5 slim which allows, well, you to play PS3 discs and in extension Playstation 1 and 2 discs without errors but physical PS4 to 5 discs are unreadable by the Disc Drive unless its the default PS5 slim disc drive
Want that? Rip a disc drive off a PS3 FAT and modify it for the PS5 slim by doing complex soldering etc
Maybe install the ps5 disk edition software its on the webpage u just need to go safe mode and install it via usb
I think it’s based on the drive maybe because of the different patterns on the drive and the actual ps5 drive
Why do u keep touching and moving the blue ray player while it's loading
This is the reason why digital consoles are cancer. I bought a disk version because I want to be able to share games with my friends and family. Also, used games are cheaper and often times, PS4 niche games like Gravity Rush are much cheaper when bought physical. A future where all console gaming is digital, is a future I won’t be a part of.
I doubt Sony will support external disk readers considering how they now require you to connect to the internet to use even the disk drive that comes with your console.
Appreciate it man, thanks! :)
If u put the external blu ray reader directly in the pc , will it play??
There not gonna make a blue-ray disc dive work for a console that was made mainly for digital reasons if u wanted a disc u should have gotten a disc one but I do understand it's hard to come by
I did the stupid mistake and acidentally bough ps5 digital and codmw2 disk fml
i hope they make external drive as my internal drive just broke.
What monitor are you using?
Something diferent for today about this appointment?
Will these work for a disc edition of PS5? Think my disc drive is broken
Thank God I bought a disc version instead of digital 😅🙏
I was wondering this back before I got my ps5. Bc I could've seen myself buying a digital if I couldn't get the disc version. Does it work on a digital xbox?
@NovaSixx no it's does not work on Xbox kinda stupid. We need disc drive so we can play out old games cus if no Internet we can't play games cus no disc drive.
Video quality A1!
can i move a game to external storage , then i play with different ps5?
What Monitor are you using?
Yea that’s how I was, I didn’t care which one I got
and wich one did you get?
@@CASPERMOB disc
Pointless click bait dude.
I have the PS5 with dust. No Games to play.
