  • The audio recording is a track from "Strasburg Rail Road - The Road to Paradise" released in 1987 by Semaphore Records. I've only ever found one copy of this (on record, aka. vinyl), in years of searching for it. The rear cover mentioned it being also available on CD, but after a discussion with Al Botto from Semaphore Records a number of years ago, he indicated that the CD release was never actually made. I transferred this myself using a Sony PS-HX500 Turntable.
In the beginning of the recording you hear the air-horn of a GG1 as she passes Leaman Place Junction and 1223's answering whistle shortly before she prepares to depart Leaman Place Junction for East Strasburg. Then 1223 starts with her train and you can hear her working hard as gets her train up to speed on the uphill climb back toward Strasburg.
Pictures accompanying this are the front and rear cover of the album along with a close-up of the description of this track.
I am posting this as the audio recording in question is no longer available for purchase, and to my understanding will not be made available for purchase again. This video is posted for the purpose of the listening enjoyment of others who, like myself, have many fond memories of riding behind the 1223. To be clear, I am making no profit from this whatsoever.
If the original company or copyright owner should find this and wish it to be taken down, please contact me immediately.
