- In the heart of the Amish farmlands of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania lies the famed Strasburg Rail Road of Strasburg, Pennsylvania. The Strasburg Rail Road, or SRC for short, has been a staple of the region's tourism since the 1960s. Since 1967 2-10-0 Baldwin Standard Decapod No. 90 has been a staple, too, of this iconic "Road to Paradise". Their largest, youngest steam engine has wowed thousands of passengers each year on the 4.5 mile ride through the Amish farmlands from East Strasburg to Leaman Place Jct.
Built in 1924 by the Baldwin Locomotive works of Philadelphia, PA, the 90 was originally owned by the Great Western Railway of Colorado where she hauled sugar beets. Operated until 1967, the 90 has been on the Strasburg Rail Road ever since. Now, nearly a century after being built, she still steams, hauling tourists and railfans alike for the SRC. It has become one of the most recognized and popular steam engines in the world. There's no doubt that the number 90 is an icon of steam preservation and the SRC itself.
We'd like to give a huge thanks to the SRC, fireman Matthew Flanagan and the SRC's David Lotfi for working with us to coordinate this video's production. This video is the culmination of four months of planning and a month of filming. The Cherry Hill segments (East and West bound) alone were a full day of filming.

90 has the prettiest bell of any locomotive out there.
The same can be said for her 6 chime whistle.
My Dad was a fireman on the 90 in the late 50s when No. 90 was used to haul sugar beets for the Great Western Railroad in Northern Colorado.
90 is my favorite Strasburg engine and decapod 🚂
I need to got to Strasburg someday, this line is absolutely beautiful.
Indeed. My maternal grandmother (God rest her soul) lived out in Lancaster County, so I was extremely fortunate to ride the trains when I was a child. I credit that little railroad, as well as a certain blue tank engine, with instilling a deep passion for trains and railroads within me. I have been back to Strasburg now that I'm older, to the point where one of the staff members said, "I've seen you here before."
Strasburg 90, the perfect combination of stack talk, whistle and bell. Love from the UK.
9:13 If you look closely you can actually see the dome of BEDT 15 aka Strasburg Thomas by a small shed.
Until I'm fortunate to experience this Railroad in person, this will suffice. Pure sounds of a steam train - excellent!
Absolutely, the sounds of the steam engine are incredible, especially on a good stereo system. I actually did the audio for this with the camera's internal pre-amps, usually that results in poor audio, but the Panasonic Lumix camera did not disappoint. I personally loved the way it captured the bubbling and gurgling of the water in the air compressor and the dripping of the water droplets onto the floor of the engine house, that scene in particular I am pleased with the audio.
This by far has to be one of the best produce videos of the strasburg railroad that's available great insight and very immersive. As a frequent Lancaster County visitor I appreciate the dedication put into this.
Excellent production! A truly fantastic take on this railroad!
Thank you. Very glad you enjoyed.
YAY STRASBURG 90 IS BACK IN BUSINESSS HORRAY
Not for long. Due for a 1472 day inspection this year.
😔😥
There something so satisfying about seeing the fireman shovel coal into a steam locomotives firebox and filling the tender tank with water
Beautiful steam locomotive at the Strasburg Railroad. I would like to go back to the Strasburg Railroad and video this 2-10-0 “Decapod” too.

Thank you!
Extraordinary! I will be going July!
Thank you. It's certainly worth the visit.
I was very sad in 66 when EMD replaced my steamer!
Very well put together
Thank you - I spent a lot of time planning and filming this, I'm very happy with how it came out, and glad to see others are enjoying it, too.
This sure was an interesting video and quite something I don’t think you’ve ever done before and I loved it!
Thank you. Very happy you enjoyed it. It took more effort, money, and time than the generic railfan video, but we feel it was well worth that. While more videos in this same spirit are planned, due to the extensive time needed to plan, coordinate and then film a video like this, these sort of videos will be once every few months.
@@DynamoProductions-trains understandable your good. 👍
Such a excellent video!
Thanks
No matter what I will always refer to to this train as the ghost train
Beautiful footage! I love this Decapod. It is in good condition. Valve box glands are tight (soviet steam locos often had problems with this). Thank you for this video!
Glad you enjoyed
People wonder why my lottery dream is to run a railroad... this is the reason why

8:07 what’s he manipulating?
Assuming you mean the rod moving up and down, the reverser.
That's what real America is all about. God, Horse and buggy, muzzleloaders, farms, log cabins , blacksmiths , and steam locomotives. Lol.
