Season 1 Episode 13: By December 1985, John Gotti (aka the Teflon Don) had assumed his place as the new Don of the Gambino crime family in New York with the assassination of his boss, Paul Castellano. When the FBI convinced Gotti's underboss, Salvatore Gravano, to testify against him, the jury came back with their verdict: guilty on all counts.
The FBI Files is an American docudrama that takes a look behind the scenes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews, due to the sensitive nature of the show, viewer discretion is advised.
I might sound strange, but i use these documentaries just to sleep fast.
If it works for you, I say "Go for it!" It's only strange to someone who doesn't do it. We ALL have our quirks.
It's why I just put it on 😆😆😆
You are not the only one
Me too
Yes
I once asked my dad why the FBI suddenly decided to start going after the mob, he told me, "the government don't like competition".
That's funny. My 96 year old mother said 30 years ago that the government is nothing but legalized mafia.
Burger King is the home of the Whopper.
@@sammyandoliver7522 government workers usually are sovereign citizens. There’s a cop in my town. That has a 6yr old registration. He drives to work daily in that vehicle. There’s a guy bringing attention to it. Nothing being done about it.
The Sheriff of my town, just settled for an undisclosed amount with his assault victim. The man is still Sheriff and his record is wiped clean because of a deferral program of some type.
@@cpcattin I was just looking for where the home of the whopper is. I knew the comments section of The FBI Files was the perfect place to discover this important information and I am not disappointed.
Well yes, many crimes such as robbery (taxation) and murder (capital punishment) is legal when the government does it. Many cults that end up challenging the governments gets disbanded quickly. The government has a monopoly over violence and they won't let any Joe Blows take t hat away.

They got into Castellanos house by scrambling his cable TV reception and sending in an fbi agent posing as a cable TV repairman

I have to say that I love the narrator for these episodes.
When Gotti was found guilty, his father was mad. He said, "For the first time in my life, I'm ashamed to be an American!" I felt the same way. For the first time in my life I was ashamed that he was an American!

After having watched the sopranos, it's crazy hearing this story and realizing how much of that plot was based on true events.
It's actually easier to use history as the basis of your plot, even if you change names and events. Otherwise you can have protagonists and antagonists doing nothing as you don't know how they should talk, walk and even act/react.
I love how they have perfect re-creations and they also include the original footage. Can't get any better than this.

While the re-enactments are pretty cringe at times, I agree, this narrator is tops.

In case anyone is still delusional about race privileges in this country I'll help u out, the only color that has ever mattered and will only ever matter is GREEN!! U got money the rules dont apply to you like they do us!!
@Snaggle Toothed As someone else had pointed out Carlo Gambino hired Roy Cohen for Gottis lawyer and he was basically 'infamous' for lack of a better word for getting mob guys amazing deals with the DA. And of course this was before they started to actually use the RICO laws. And Gotti wasn't the trigger man Ralph Galione was. At the end of the day it's human beings that are the ones "enforcing" these laws and sentences so back in the 70's when Cosa Nostra was still in its glory day times it's not that hard to believe this situation! It more than likely was happening on a weekly basis back than. It's just we all know who Gotti is and have looked into his life se we're aware of his particular case.
@Snaggle Toothed lmao I just went back up to the comments to see who mentioned Roy Cohen and that was YOU!! Lol Yea bro u know the answer man. Even today it still rings true if u have an amazing attorney they can work certain wonders!

@isjw skksks It still should look similar to the real person. They should have used a larger actor to play castellano. If they are going to use actors on a show, they shouldn't look like the complete opposite of the real person. the actor was skinny without glasses, and Paul was fat with glasses. 34:11 it always blows my mind 🤯 how they gloss over the fact that the FBI accomplished this several times. HOW? You’d think the Ravenite would have security on staff overnight or anytime it was unoccupied. That’s crazy. So the FBI just walks in with keys? How were they copied? At the Ravenite there were no alarms on when they’d leave at night? Almost all businesses have alarm systems. Cafes, restaurants, pizzerias. It’s bizarre.
It clearly just wasn’t like that. It always cracks me up when they said “the mob guys house is surrounded by armed soldiers watching the front and back 24/7.” It just wasn’t like that. They try to make what they did seem more miraculous then what I really was. It’s really simple to catch people when you can break the law. How hard is it to break into someone’s house and put a bug in it you think there’s always going to be somebody home 7 days a week 24 hours a day? It’s pretty simple
You would think there be someone in the lounge at all times no matter what. They never thought the fbi would do that. For how smart they are at doing crimes and murder they sure snoozed at that.Gotti never goes to jail if that dont happen.I think he wouldve gotten killed the chin wanted gotti real bad and he was going to do what ever. That car bomb was for gotti but he decided not to go in that car.The chin said he was good for decicco dying.Chin wasnt good he wanted gotti

If you want to stay out of prison you do things the smart way. That’s why if you were in the mafia you’d be a lowly soldier in and out of prison and I’d be a boss 🤷🏽
@@kingrama27 the chin didn't right 'everything' down then burn the paper like u said he insulated himself so what ever he said would have to get relaid 2 or 3 times that's totally different to what u said. Also if u were a boss u could write things down at some meetings but u said if u were a mafia member u would write everything down then burn it. So u would either get whacked or laughed out of town my friend. Also chin had to act crazy for half of his life and died in jail anyway so that didn't really work out for him did it.
Benjamin Mortimer dude you’re a fucking idiot. You don’t understand anything I’ve said. Obviously if I was a soldier you don’t write shit down. I’m talking if I was a boss or capo. I would t get “laughed” out of town or whacked. You’re a fucking idiot and that’s why you’d be a lowly soldier in and out of jail, you’re not smart.
@@kingrama27 u said if u were a mafia member u would NEVER talk business out loud and u didn't say boss. Its ridiculous that u would even say that it's not the movies pal u havnt got time to 'never talk business out loud.' Writing shit down and burning it Haha u cant get away from that comment my friend. If u were a boss and u were on the run hiding out then written messages would be fine but u clearly dont know how that life works Hollywood. ''So Joey what about this construction thing we got downtown?'' ''I dont know what ur talkin about?'' Out come the pen and paper🤣🤣🤣 do u know how disrespectful that would be to whoever u were speaking to. It wouldn't work just concede defeat on this one and get back to ur daydreams Haha good luck to u no hard feelings.
John Gotti was about as good as a Cosa Nostra boss as John Travolta was at playing him 💯
Will That's What Happens When Your In Church Of Scientology I Felt Really Bad When His Son Jett Died In 2009 At 17 Years Of Age Supposedly Of Epileptic Seizure And He Was Quickly Cremated Church Of Scientology Don't Believe In Medicine Or Medical Condition But Believe In Aliens And What Not And Dinosaurs Remember I Cant Remember That Movie In Year 2000 John Travolta Was So Excited To Make Had Something To Do With Scientology Budget Was Over 20,000.000 Dollars Only Made 5.000.000 Dollars
I love the how all the mob members have nicknames like Sammy the Bull. John Gotti had some of the best nicknames aka Dapper Don aka Teflon Don. Facinating to here these Mafia Cases
What an amazing story. I feel astonished and speechless with every detail. I’ve been searching more and more the mob history and the more I search the more amazed I become

@@HeroInTheSun He can do what sir?
Lol bit ott
I would have loved sitting in the courtroom during that trial.
There were some major aspects to this story that were either not mentioned , or Jim Calstrom got entirely wrong .
And most of it has to do with Frankie DiCicco . With the possible exception of Salvatore Totto Aurello , Frankie DiCicco were considered to be the most respected of all the Capo Regimes in the Gambino Family . DiCicco , everyone thought had both brains and muscle . To quote Sammy Gravano : " John Gotti and my crew , were nothing but pimples on Frankie DiCicco's ass ."
The actual plan , after the Castellano hit , was to make Gotti the boss , but if he didn't perform after the first year , Gravano would kill Gotti , to make Frankie DiCicco the boss . This becomes important .
The Lucchese , Colombo, and Bonanno families were indeed contacted , but the Genovese family headed up by Vincent The Chin Gigante was never contacted . Never!
This is a very important detail , because Frankie DiCicco was assassinated four months following the Castellano hit .
The method of assassination was a car bomb. And it was determined that the car bomb making materials were plastique . European materials commonly associated with the Sicilian mafia . Only Chin Gigante of the Gigante had close connections with the Sicilian Mafia ..... Not only that only the Gigante family used this modus operandi once before , when Testa of the Philadelphia Mob was blown up in his house. Everyone knew that The Chin was behind this assassination, as well .
Old man Paruta , one of Gravano's shooters killed Di Benardo , but that was strictly on Gotti's orders . Gravano , who had a close relationship with Di Bernardo actually pleaded with Gotti to spare DiBernardo's life .
The whole story of the Di Benardo hit is this :
Di Bernardo was a Capo Regime , and an extremely wealthy man . Next to Castellano, Di Bernardo may have been the richest mafioso in the Gambino family . Di Bernardo was purely a racketeer , and not a gangster . He was purely an earner . Not a tough guy .
He was killed for two reasons .
He was extremely wealthy , and because of his extreme wealth , Gotti saw him as a threat .
Ruggiero who was Gotti's goombatta , hated Di Bernardo . And he planted seeds of doubt against Di Bernardo into Gotti's head .
Ruggiero told Gotti that Di Bernardo was " talking treason " against Gotti . This stemmed from a disagreement Ruggiero and Di Bernardo had , following Frankie DiCicco 's death .
Ruggiero wanted Frankie DiCicco 's position as Underboss . And he told Di Bernardo , since he was Gotti's goombata , He would become Gotti's Underboss . To this Di Bernardo said , " You will never be Underboss . You have the balls, but you have no brains."" Ruggieo , then asked Di Bernardo , " Who do you think should be Underboss?"
Di Bernardo replied " Sammy ".
And a few weeks later , Ruggiero borrowed $250,000 from Di Bernardo, with absolutely no intention of paying him back . And it was then, that Gotti ordered the hit on Di Bernardo.
Ruggiero told Sammy Gravano that John Gotti specifically ordered that Sammy do the hit . Sammy had protested , but he did it in the end . He had no choice . Joe Paruta , Sammy's main shooter actually pulled the trigger .
.
Dang you know a lot
So we have them to thank for NYC being so darn expensive.! Totally ridiculous. To the point where everyone is leaving the city. Too bad because I love New York city, but know is un liveable.
You can thank the democrat politicians for taxing the city & for their liberal policies for ruining the city!
Look all across America & you'll see the effects of democrat politics.
Governments and the mafia work together. The mafia back then had a family persona and people loved them because they were afraid of them. Reagan was in office in the 80s while all this crime was going on. The. Mafia still exists and are equally if not more evil. Let's be realistic.
5-10 years from now, they're gonna wish there was an American Cosa Nostra. 5-10 years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti. (c) HBO's "Gotti", 1996.
Brilliant pic bro
@Toni Delgado Abellan Gotti 1996 is one of my favourite films but the John travolta one was pish
