this part when bono is singing: love love love and turning mic to crowd and after screams/sings at top of his lungs IM WIDE AWAKE IM WIDE AWAKE! is the some of the most best awesome greatness i heard such power such soul, bono really amazing front man.
Bono sings a bit of Candle In the Wind by Elton John and Fool to Cry by The Rolling Stones before singing that bit of The First Time. According to Bill Flanagan’s book U2 At the End of the World, Mick Jagger was in the crowd.
that 1at time that Bono sang/band performed song"BAD" Live IN DUBLIN(home)was Perfection his voice was so good He has infectious grace ,strength, and even when it's not perfect his spirit just shines through I see those leather pants & wonder who chose them him?or a stylist more likely lol but hes always worn the leather throughout the years They kind of crack me up considering who the band is and all miss them high oh ohohs oh no I'm not sleeping!Side Awake!!
My favorite U2 concert EVER!!! Had this on two tape records since the day of the concert when I was 13 years old and I still have it with me 22 years later! U2 was on the top of their game that night in Dublin. Each and every song was memorable and a moment for eternity!
Damn.. I can’t believe there’s other people out there who share the same passion for this show, as I do. I remember being in a Utica motel room, listening to this concert live on the radio. My dad, my older brother, and myself were dropping off my other older brother at college the next day. We didn’t even know the concert was gonna air, but we just happened to catch it on the radio just as it started. We layed on the motel beds and the floor, and absorbed every song. To this day, my favorite concert of all time. Beautiful!
Sorry for write in french, but same thing here. J'ai le concert en double CD depuis 94/95 en bootleg et en numérique sur mon PC et ça reste le meilleur concert, de la meilleure tournée, avec le meilleur son, de U2. Tout y est...
I was at the gig RDS Dublin , i witnessed U2 live past 3 decades 17 shows in total , without question it was best Bad performance , no U2 gig better than them playing at home , Slane Castle both gigs were the best , not just cause of the performance best venue on earth , natural landscape with a history , and hearing the Unforgettable fire live in very location they recorded such within the caste , and knowing they backed Thin Lizzy 20 years before , never be a gig to top Slane just was party .
I had this tape I made in my car for years. Somewhere around the 4:00 mark Bono gets a sudden inspiration and really kicks it up. The second "Wide Awake," not in falsetto, sent true chills down my spine hundreds of times, including today. Also, Mysterious Ways from this concert, especially the coda, has to be the best ever.
Amazing song and amazing preformace. This is probably the best U2 concert bootleg around, not because of picture quality or the sound(which is really good) but because this is just such a good concert.
Good version ... very good concert ... did not know what was on video ... I have the full audio of this concert released on CD pirate in Italy ... with good quality ... called U2 Live Dublin 93. .. very good ... greetings!
amazing performance but i think that Bono has reached the best expression of his voice during the Zootv/ZooropaTour...sure his voice maybe was more powerful during the late eighties but the best control between chest voice and falsetto and the limitation of the rough voice tecnique (his imitation of American singin' style during the R&H period -one thing he told during an interview-) made it possible to record some of the most stunning performance of his career... listen to the famous 1993 bad live version that imho it's unbeatable... ruclips.net/video/_D6y9yYiJyI/видео.html
If you twist and turn away. If you tear yourself in two again. If I could, yes I would If I could, I would let it go. Surrender, dislocate. If I could throw this lifeless life-line to the wind. Leave this heart of clay, see you walk, walk away Into the night, and through the rain Into the half light and through the flame. If I could, through myself, set your spirit free I'd lead your heart away, see you break, break away Into the light and to the day. To let it go and so to find away. To let it go and so find away. I'm wide awake. I'm wide awake, wide awake. I'm not sleeping. If you should ask, then maybe They'd tell you what I would say True colours fly in blue and black Blue silken sky and burning flag. Colours crash, collide in blood-shot eyes. If I could, you know I would If I could, I would let it go. This desperation, dislocation Separation, condemnation Revelation, in temptation Isolation, desolation Let it go and so to find away To let it go and so to find away To let it go and so to find away I'm wide awake, I'm wide awake, wide awake I'm not sleeping Oh no, no, no.
I think cos the Live at Sydney Show, which was going to take place in November that Year, was already Scheduled to be recorded and officially released. Mind you that was a Video, they could have released this as an Official Live Album. That said, they encouraged Fans to Tape the Show from the Radio, as they did the NYE1898 Gig.
@therookpiece neither did i. i guess it had to do with the fact that it was freely broadcast all over europe. i seem to recall there were cassette covers printed in some newspapers. maybe that was why, but this is an amazing show.
It's a combination of three songs. I think 5:33 is a snippet from "Candle in the wind" by Elton John, 6:07 is a snippet from "Fool to cry" and 6:20 onwards is a snippet from "The First Time"
Actually i'm kind of intrigued by this. From the lyrics: [5:33] 'They crawled out of the woodwork', is from Elton John. Then bono goes on to sing what seems like: "onto pages of change, good old magazines" which isn't part of Candle in the wind, and he then follows up with "you had the grace to hold yourself, while those around you crawled" which is from a different part of Elton John's song. But i don't think the 'pages of change' part is a snippet from anything. Sounds kinda cool though, maybe it's got something to do with the way Michael Jackson was treated in the tabloids (magazines).
A Master piece of Rock and Roll !!!!
one of the best vocals i have ever heard
“Guilty before your giving a chance” the meaning of “BAD” !!! Growing up listening to U2 when I wasn’t allowed !!
this part when bono is singing: love love love and turning mic to crowd and after screams/sings at top of his lungs IM WIDE AWAKE IM WIDE AWAKE! is the some of the most best awesome greatness i heard such power such soul, bono really amazing front man.
What a piece of music this is.
This version is unbelievable.
Bono sings a bit of Candle In the Wind by Elton John and Fool to Cry by The Rolling Stones before singing that bit of The First Time.
According to Bill Flanagan’s book
U2 At the End of the World,
Mick Jagger was in the crowd.
it was incredible mement when Bad changed to first time.

I was there for both nights. It was a magical time that I will always carry with me.
Going to Vegas, can’t wait to hear this
PRACHTIG geweldig nummer vanaf dag 1!!!
i cant say it enough, but its simply amazing. The band are completely nsync, gives me strengh this stuff, really..
I can tell Bono and Edge used a lot of falsetto during this time and it actually works beautifully in the "Wide Awake" part.
It would be SOOO FREAKIN AWESOME if they released thus full concert on DVD!!
YO ESTUVE ALLI, VI LOS DOS CONCIERTOS QUE DIERON ESE MES DE AGOSTO Y FUERON LOS MEJORES MOMENTOS DE MI VIDA........

True, I have it on CDR (now copied to my Ipod) and it was Live on Radio in the States too. I remember listening to it on my Walkman in Boston.

Bono's voice at its absolute peak. Less strain here than in the 80s.
Best Bad.
The magic had gone.

Thx guys , no dislikes warms my heart :)
At the 4:20 point, I think he's just making it up. At 6:06, that's a Rolling Stones song (Fool to cry).
He’s not making it up he always does that live
@therookpiece
It was live on Radio 1 in the UK..... Ive still got it on cassette...

Was broadcast in the States as well.

Wide Awake In America version for me
What. Bone. You. Sharon. ..Like. Songs. Day.
What is he saying at 4:40 and 6:06? Is he referencing other songs?
Does anyone know why is he talking about Michael Jackson at the beginning?
Santiago Suarez saying he doesn't think he was bad. And that he was a good guy
It was at the height of allegations against Michael as a pedophile
Song about America now

Look yous punks are only on the U2 band wagon and if your not well I commend you but I am from Dublin and I grew up with U2
I'm from Dublin too. What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
He kissed her right before he got on the plane
183-4 :))))))))))))))))))
this is not Dublin but Sidney
This is Dublin, 28th August 1993
Sit down
You should adjust the title ... this is not the first time Bad was performed live by U2 .... I seen them play this song live in 1984
Constuctive Critisism "the first time" is the name of the song following Bad. You can find it in Zooropa album
Best live version of this song but it's 2019 and I bet they feel a little 'bad' about the beginning part regarding Michael Jackson
ok but... michael was innocent
He's just reminding her of her man that got killed in a plane crash
And then she found out the airplane blew up
what?
