I'm glad I'm not the only one that follows old railway lines on google 😁.. stumbled upon your videos and its brilliant. Iv always been fascinated with the old Roscrea - Portumna line. If you could do a video on that it would be very cool 😎. Keep up the videos
@@eamonnca1 Gooldscross Station was open to goods traffic until 1963 and passengers until 1976. It then operated as a block post until 1986 and did not close in the 50's as stated. The Cashel line did have an intermediate station approx 3 miles from Gooldscross at Ardmayle where construction of the line began in 1903. The house depicting Cashel Station has and never had any connection to the railway other than being close to it. The Station was situated beside the existing warehouses. It was a completely galvanised structure and was burned to the ground in.the late 1980's. No remains exist today.. The line itself closed in 1954 but many excursion special trains operated on it until 1957. (GAA specials and cattle trains mostly). It was lifted in 1960 and 1961.

The Cashel branch would make a great heritage railway, so would the Loughrea branch.
I think there was a station called Ardmayle on that line
Information provided in the video of tracing the gooldscross Cashel railway has some serious inaccuracies that need correction for future reference.
Go ahead, I'm always happy to learn more…

Billy Maher the textile factory was not the end of the line I think it connects with the dualla road/new line road I might be wrong
@@hansmatthia32 The textile factory site now a did depot was the branch line terminus and at no stage did it go to the Dualla Rd area of town.
Billy Maher hey bill what line came in by the furry hill there is an old track down the back of palmers hill think it connected to Laffins bridge
The railway line like all should be reopened to trains to cut down 1) Traffic Jams, 2) Car Accidents/Road Deaths & 3) Pollution.
