  • @reaceness

    The spin-off should have been the Tales of the Slayer. Could jumped around different time periods, from the start of humanity, up to modern times, vastly different slayers, in different social political period: a slayer in the Second World War, during the French Revolution, a West African tribe during the 16th Century, a Black teenager in the Jim Crowe South. So much potential for fascinating stories.

      @@dodson43 Willow/Tara relationship is recognised by great many fans as strongest part of the later seasons. The controversial part would be Willow being written as hetero for a better half of the show. If season 5 happened last year there would be more anti-sjw videos about it than about cpt marvel, she-ra and star wars put together.

      @Mark Guerrero yes but if they do say like as a Smallville type show then two things about at number one we can go into more detail than we could just a movie and number two we won't have to worry about if Head died because if he was in it would just be as a narrator. Instead we'd get a younger actor with similar features to Head who could play a young Gillian's.

    Buffy the Animated Show would had me hooked. I remember something that I read in the Buffy fan club Magazine that most of the animated episodes in this series would have had elements that were pitched in season one and in season two that couldn't been done at the time due to budgetary restraints. It would have been cool to see a monster formed out of hellish cafeteria food be the big bad for one episode or Angel fight a giant Black Dragon.

      Yep.....Eliza should have taken the road of Faith considering that other show she did completely bombed. She'd have made more money anyways and I think it would have been more of a success just because of the relationship to everything. She's a major player in both shows. You could have guest appearances from the Buffy cast and Angel cast as well. I believe that would have kept it alive....for at least 3 seasons anyways which makes it a better career choice not only for her but for any other cast member that might just get a reprising role. Or have needed a reprising role. Nicky certainly could have used one and Xander certainly had the history with Faith to build on in a new series. Or they could have went a different direction with D.B. The principal could have had a guest role. The Faith show was certainly the best option that makes sense cause there's just so many directions they could have went.....so much they could do with it. I can see why it would have been the only 1 you'd watch....its the only 1 that would have survived a single season anyways

It’s weird that our minds do that, but they do. Before I ever watched Buffy, I swore up and down I knew the theme song was like cartoony and much different than the actually theme, but I guess I just remember something else that I associated with Buffy :/ that’s why the Mandela Effect has such strong support

      @jayb8934 3 года назад

      It's weird when you think about it. Either the monks were powerful enough to literally re-write reality so that Dawn did exist for those 14 years which technically means that the first 4 seasons of Buffy are non-canon, or they just changed everyone's memories to think she existed, which would mean that this animated series and any other stories that feature pre-season 5 Dawn are non-canon.

  • @taker68
    @taker68 3 года назад +3

    Ripper sounds like the best idea. Tough to do anything with Spike or Angel with the actors aging. The cartoon probably would have been more for kids so continuity doesn't matter. Supposedly, even if Dawn wasn't there for real, everyone's memories would have her there.

    I wouldn't have minded seeing a Charmed-ish Willow spin-off series. The Giles spin-off sounds pretty cool too. I should probably check out the comics someday. I'm mostly disappointed the animated series never got greenlit. They could've played it back-to-back with the Sabrina animated series.

  • @LibraGamesUnlimited
    @LibraGamesUnlimited 3 года назад +9

    I know how Dawn would've worked. When she was created everyone's memories were changed to make it seem like she was always around so the animated shows would've been their memories of the events, rather than the events themselves. Also, it's possible that maybe these memories were messed with which is why the live-action series never mentioned them.

    • @mione12gft71
      @mione12gft71 2 года назад +1

  • @enigmachine4961

    The ultimate spin-off was written into the show's theme..."In every generation, a slayer is born." Just do a show where every episode or season is dedicated to a different slayer from a different time period. Use the watchers as a framing device, since they recorded the exploits of all the slayers throughout history. You could even do future slayers, since Buffy didn't destroy all evil, just the hellmouth in Sunnydale. You could also do a contest and have the fans vote on which slayer stands out as the best, and give her her own series. Netflix would be a great platform for this and would allow them to get away with way more than they could on a network show. The Buffyverse has so much potential for characters and ideas, seems a shame to focus on just one character. What do you guys think?

    I would have been all-in on Buffy: The Animated Series.......as a matter of fact, if any of those projects had been done with animation, they would have been just as cool, or even cooler, than the comics. And....... the comic versions could still have been created right along side of them. Plus, with animation, you have so much more potential to use concepts that just wouldn't work in live action. I don't know, I just love cartoons!! "Scooby Dooby Doo!" Thanks for the vid, there were a few things on this list that I hadn't heard of, but had read in the comics, and now I understand why they were in there. Peace & Love, Y'all !!!!

    I would have loved a Giles’ origin story. I understand why they couldn’t do a live action because honestly, who could ever measure up to Anthony Head and play a younger Giles? but it’s weird to me how they never (as far as I know) considered the idea at least for a comic or something. I think it would have even more potential than a Willow spin-off. I remember the Giles craze at the time, at least in the teen and pre-teen female population of my corner of the world 😂

    For the Dawn thing in that animated series when she was created the idea was the monks had melded her into the timeline so that it was completely believable to Buffy and friends that she was Buffy’s sister. This means she was always in Buffy up to her introduction point. I believe they actually have a comic story where a flash back shows Dawn as a little kid. So having her in in the animated series would just be keeping with the altered cannon that Joss made.

    I love how After the Fall actually shows exactly what happened after the huge cliffhanger in the series finally. Still weird that they decided to end it like that. The Buffy comics follow up are great too and bat shit crazy. I’m planning to re-read them again as I haven’t caught up with the last few seasons yet. I hope they did a decent job wrapping up the series.

    I’m trying to design a Buffyverse mobile game. I miss the series so much, this is what it has come to. I’m going to learn unity or find friends that can design games. Do something like Marvel Strike Force or Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, where you collect shards of characters to level up and battle other teams, etc. then I’m gonna email Joss or Disney/Fox, whoever has the rights, these days, the Alpha version and beg him for the rights to do it. Hopefully, someone one who loves Buffy and designing video games reads this lol. I’ll find you one day, Firefly 😙🤌🏻

    I think the Buffy animated series was going to be like the 90’s Sabrina series; based off of the series but more aimed for younger audiences and with no continuity, every episode Is it’s own story. It’s a shame that didn’t get made the art style was so nice.

    Looking back on Buffy season 7 I like it even more now. I always thought it succeeded thematically in being the perfect end, but compared to every final season of shows that have come and gone, it’s even masterpiece-ier.
    So many shows falter in their final season, even on a thematic level. Buffy ended with her sticking it to the establishment like she always has, but on such bigger level. She rejected the shadowmen that created the slayer and shared her power with every potential. She and the show stayed true to what Buffy was always about and did it without stepping out of bounds. She changed the game and inspired an army. It was perfectly conceived and only just missed being perfectly executed by the smallest of margins. It did all that with 22 episodes a season, before tv grew up and figured itself out, and there is only one or two shows that have a finale as good as Buffy.

    I would have liked to have seen the animated Buffy series. From the way the setup sounds, I think they would have viewed it as an alternate continuity, kind of the way the new BOOM! Studios comic is. You should give Dollhouse a watch. It takes a few episodes to really get into it, but once the lore gets laid out, it's really good.

    I remember the talk of the Faith spin-off and I wanted it. Tru Calling was a paled in comparison so I didn't last after the pilot. I agree though, it probably would not have been successful for the reasons you stated. Years ago I was reading the post-show comics for both Angel and Buffy and loving them but I fell off so I have no idea what went on after a short while.
