    As someone who built a "Map Breaker" blueprint to deliberately go OOB for 3 categories of reasons, I think this hub and spawn trick is brilliant.
    I can't imagine speedrunning Satisfactory though. For the same reason I don't do hot dog eating contests. 😂

    • @BrianKurtz-Red
      @BrianKurtz-Red 3 месяца назад

      I was actually trying some of the old Hypertube tricks to get OOB, didn't think about Blueprints. Just curious what your blueprint looks like (roughly) so I can build one and build under the map?

    • @ivocanevo
      @ivocanevo 3 месяца назад

      @@BrianKurtz-Red sure. I built mine before 1.0 and haven't rebuilt since. I'll say that the nudge feature makes it ten times better. Before that, you could only place in ideal circumstances.
      The basic idea is:
      1. A working hypertube entrance at the bottom and one at the top.
      2. A diagonally long blueprint works well. I place the bottom "landing" at a bottom corner of the designer and have the top entrance at the opposing top corner of the designer. The entrance can be in the middle too. In some cases it helps to at least have some object in the top corner. This results in a blueprint whose center of mass is in the middle of the designer.
      3. The landing area should prevent your pioneer from flying into the void. I find that platforms with railings are great for this. Test it above ground.
      4. When placing, game the puts the center of blueprint at the above-ground spot where you point your build gun. For this reason, if you have a long blueprint, you can stick the landing platform into the bottom of a hill by pointing to the valley just before it. With nudge, you can move it another 8m.
      5. There is no other way to force it down. So this doesn't work on flat ground. Even the "center of mass" I mentioned in #2 only works horizontally. So if you need to get under flat ground, find a nearby hill and from there see if you can build yourself a safe OOB route.
      6. Not least, make sure that your bottom hypertube entrance has power, so you can get out. That's easy, just build it into the blueprint. Obviously you connect power above ground after you place it.
      That covers everything I can think of, but ask if it doesn't. I don't make content, but I considered if I did I might start with this topic since I've never seen it done.

    I feel like such a fool, I've been playing for 2 weeks since 1.0 launch, and it wasn't until just yesterday that I realized I could automate the dimensional depot. I was manually uploading everything. I had 41 mercer spheres just sitting in my inventory and I was like "shit, what do I do with these????"

    • @k0lpA
      @k0lpA 3 месяца назад

      hahahaha.
      Here's a tip, if you want more upload speed make multiple depots. There are upgrades to make it faster too but they cost exponentially more. If it costs 7 spheres to make it twice as fast and you really only need concrete and say encased beams to be faster you can just use 3 spheres for each and now they are 4x as fast for 6 spheres instead of twice as fast for 7. Most of the stuff you really don't need that much of anyway. Of course if you have enough spheres anyway you can get the upgrades though

    • @Nexurl
      @Nexurl 3 месяца назад +2

      @k0lpA This only works in the early game when you have very few items to upload, if you have to double every depot for the 30 or so item that I'm uploading now, it would be less efficient, or even impossible.

Not to mention most people are interested in playing the game first, and with a tutorial as effective as Satisfactory's there should be no need to use the game options until much later.

    Are there glitched and unglitched speedruns for Satisfactory? I know you discussed on stream a if out of bounds was a major or minor glitch, but as a 'normal' player of Satisfactory I would consider OOB a glitch. Not sure how other games handle it in their speedrun communities.
    But cool strat non-the-less

    • @EpiphaneSpeedruns
      @EpiphaneSpeedruns  3 месяца назад +8

      There are glitched and NMG speedruns, but no categories cover "zero glitches". Satisfactory is difficult to reason about because, in many other games a glitch is either ineffective/counterproductive or a serious time save. Because the scale of time savings when doing things like OOB is small compared to, say, item duplication, we're considering it fun and cool but ultimately not game-changing

    • @EpiphaneSpeedruns
      @EpiphaneSpeedruns  3 месяца назад +10

      People have been using this in vanilla gameplay for years, building underground factories and subways for fun. An important distinction to make for the speedrunning argument is taking into account the scale. We're talking about avoiding a couple minutes of running in a straight line, not skipping milestones. The better equivalent to an adventure game would be if you could skip through an unlocked door instead of waiting for it to open. Saves you seconds but doesn't fundamentally change what you can and can't do

    am i the only one who hate OOB speedruns and other exploits ? i would 100% prefer watching a skilled speedrun rather than just abusing this kind of stuff :/

    • @EpiphaneSpeedruns
      @EpiphaneSpeedruns  3 месяца назад +14

      Does running for 2 extra minutes come off as more skilled than finding a way to clip into the floor, aim, and then quickly and accurately place buildings in a specific location while falling to your death?
      To be clear, it's fine to say you don't like watching speedruns that use glitches instead of 100% as-intended gameplay. But to add an implication that putting more time and effort in makes someone unskilled is kind of rude to speedrunners in general (this applies to all games, not just SF)

    • @halycon404
      @halycon404 3 месяца назад +5

      In Satisfactory specifically the runs are so long that I don't care a whole lot. People go on 4-5 hard drive runs early mid-game when they matter and they're only saving 2-3 minutes per exploit each time at the pace they move. In total it's maybe 20 minutes over a 20 hour run. The run is just so long that much more time than the 20 minute saved in exploits can be lost to RNG. It just isn't that big of a deal in a game where gain is so little compared to a perfectly clean run. If we're talking games where exploits can save minutes in runs that are measured in minutes then that's different. Just sitting down to speedrun something like Satisfactory is already a daunting task in time management and skipping sleep. They're going to lose more than the 20 minutes gained in bathroom breaks and going to get sandwiches.

    • @MichaelPohoreski
      @MichaelPohoreski 3 месяца назад +2

      @itsKimi Are you the _only_ one who hates OOB? No, that's WHY we have different *categories* -- those that want to watch a glitchless run can, and
      those that want to watch glitches can.
      That said, but it is a *bit disingenuous* to imply that people who abuse OOB are "unskilled." The time it takes to even _find_ OOB exploits in the first place, optimize THAT route, AND the ability to pull them off *consistently* definitely puts them in the skilled category.
      For the record I prefer a glitchless run but I also happen to enjoy _both_ glitchless and glitches -- because _everyone_ competing at these levels have immense patience and skill._ The discovery process of HOW someone optimized a route is part of the fun of watching.
