I had a 10th gen iPad ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

@@LeshaeScheepers I take pictures on my phone so don’t need the cameras, I have a Bluetooth speaker I use whenever I listen to music in the house so I didn’t need the extra speakers & the last difference is the screen which a lot of people were saying be it doesn’t come with the mini LED display “if you don’t already have a 120hz display device you won’t notice a difference between the air & pro” so with all of that I decided I’d save myself a few dollars

Thanks for the video. I have to be honest, as someone who always bought the 12.9” since it was release, I bought the 11” iPad Pro last years and I do not think I will ever go back to a larger format. Maybe if the iPad can be a 100% laptop replacement then probably but for now, I love this form factor. I still use it 80% of the time over my MBA M1.

@@craigbrown04 And don’t get me wrong, I loved my 12.9” but I was always going at it from the perspective that Apple would really push the so called laptop replacement we’ve been craving. I always used it like a laptop but now this 11” I just use it in all its form be it with the Magic Keyboard or alone. It has changed my view of this size. I even bought a slim sling bad to carry everywhere. Ok I do want mini-LED but eventually. ;-) Wishing for a slim laptop replacement stems back from the days where my work first introduced me to my MS Surface Pro 7, i was hooked on the form-factor since.

Similar to my case...Thanks for the video. I have to be honest, as someone who always bought a MacBook Pro (MBP) since 2007, I got the 11” iPad Pro M1 back in January and I do not think I will ever go back to a MBP. My iPad Pro 11" is a 100% laptop replacement for me because everything I do is mainly in the cloud. I also love this form factor.

I have the iPad Air 5th Gen in 64gb. I feel it's perfect for me because I don't like a lot of clutter on my devices. My iPhone is 256gb and I've only used 80gb. I literally tried to utilize the space by downloading a bunch of games from Apple Arcade that I have yet to play. I also have apple one service which gives me 2tb of iCloud storage to share with family so I think I'll be covered. I dabble a bit in editing videos but if need be I'll just use an external hard drive like I have before. It'll take some file management from time to time but I don't mind. I plan to use my iPad for nursing school.

I got it . I am a child psychiatrist doing write ups and zoom like sessions left and right. The 256gb memory is ample for any apps I need. It simply rocks and keeps me able to move around and stay productive. I use Notion, fantastical, and others apps such as todoist. The shortcuts like the ones for two apps at once take things to a different level. To me, the pro would be too weighty In more ways than one. Cheers!

Using it right now, absolutely amazing, watched the book of boba fest which was absolutely beautiful on this thing, the speakers are great, it’s fast, it’s sleek, and affordable and feels sturdy and amazing. The 120hertz is kinda a gimmick to me, but would be nice, but I really prefer this bad boy, as soon as I saw it I deleted the iPad Pro 11 from my cart and added it immediately. No regrets here! Bought the 2021 iPad Pro last week on Amazon discounted. Almost immediately sent it back. Completely overkill for the average user like myself. Ordered the 65gb iPad Air 5 instead and feel much more at home with it. I would recommend leaving the Pro models unless you’re a “Pro”. The average user these days really doesn’t need all the extra features, and ProMotion personally was making me feel a bit seasick when switching between my 60hz iPhone.

Just got an iPad Air 5th generation and it has been incredible. It’s so fast and capable, and I haven’t really been able to slow it down with the new M1 chip. It’s so thin, I felt paranoid it was gonna snap in half every 5 seconds, so I’ve put a case in it. I’ve had no build quality issues except for an oddly jiggly power button. The only complaint I have is that I was going to recommend this to a friend, but now they’v put the prices up, it makes no sense to buy an iPad Air over the 11” M1 iPad Pro! Apple is becoming out of touch that we want quality AND value for money, but their new prices are just ridiculous. Great video, keep it up!!

I am a heavy user of iPad 6th generation. Use it to give classes every single day. I have been using it for 3 years now. I really need it. Unfortunately in Brazil the iPad Pro is inexplicably expensive. More than double the price of the USA. I will try to get the iPad Air 5 abroad. If I had the money I would go pro. But this air 5 seems to be more than sufficient for my use, as I will be upgrading from 6th generation.

Great video as always 🙏. But I personaly would still prefer the ipad pro M1 12.9 inch over the ipad air M1 10.9 . Spending few bucks extra will help for long term. Ipad air is best for students on budget. Colors dosent matter to me , as once we use a soft case we only see the screen we working on 😁
    - Storage capacity are very limited in Ipad air
    - No face id . This really required for regularly working.
    - no LIDAR which i use regularly , some apps use LIDAR providing accurate mesausrements. Even though iphone 13 pro has LIDAR, Having it in IPAD really helps.
    - Size is limited to 10.9 inch. Using 12.9" is very good for split screen multitasking ( its very much portable than people think ). Photo editing / Video editing in mini led is great and 12.9 size great to watch netflix , Games etc.
    - Transfer speeds is better in ipad pro M1 compared to air, which i regularly transfer huge data .
I had no issues with portability of ipad pro 12.9 M1. I dont feel bulky or heavy, i feel more useful and productive in ipad pro M1 12.9 inch the screensize helps a lot in multitasking..and miniLED display is fantastic to work while photo editing.

Interesting as always! You’re right about the pricing structure still being a sticking point. I went route B with the iPad Pro 11 128Gb discounted on Amazon. Clients’ 12.9” versions always felt too unwieldy. I’ve not struggled with 128Gb and feel the better screen shades the new Air still. USB-C functions means I don’t have to carry a laptop for work any longer! I really cannot conceive where Apple with take the iPads next. What more do they need?!

    • @Therejectionartist
      @Therejectionartist 2 года назад +1

If you mean double the memory over the 64gb air, that also means a price difference of about 150-200 dollars between the air and the pro. I even chose an air with 256gb, as I prefer more storage to having a few cosmetic improvements on a pro that I can live without. All depends what you need it for. Better speakers and camera and face ID and better screen are luxury add ons that don’t necessarily tempt people to the pro model, especially if you prefer touch id, use headphones and speakers a lot and don’t care about cameras. And if you never used a pro and upgraded from a base ipad, an air will do the job.

This is for people upgrading from base ipads who probably don’t think about professional level usage and never used pro features so don’t really care for extra screen and speaker power, camera, face ID etc. The air is the sweet spot for light professional use, portability, speed and entertaniment.

Good video mate the air 5 looks a good machine .
I have the air 4 , i still love my little air 4 , mine doesn’t seem to have any squeaks or squeaky bits in the panel , I have noticed though , when I adjust the ipad angle of the screen while it’s on the magic keyboard , I do get a bit of a squeak from the hinge area of the magic keyboard when it hits a certain point, I took the iPad off the magic keyboard and tried it , and sure enough the magic keyboard squeaked by itself in the hinge.
I might add I have this magic keyboard for about a year and it has done it since new , but does not seem to effect the keyboard which still works like a Beauty .
Thinking about whether I would go to the new model, for my use of just general web browsing, looking at tubes , media consumption, my air 4 does the job fine , and rarely do I feel the need for more horsepower.
Of course it would be nice to have even more horsepower 😎, but for my use I really don’t think I need it given the price of these things.
Something i would not have minded , and that is the 4 speakers from the pro models ( I am just assuming they would be somewhat louder? ).
Don’t get me wrong ,the air 4 speakers in isolation do a good job , but I drag my little iPad everywhere and it does a fair stint in the kitchen, and occasionally when I have appliances in the kitchen going , be it the kettle or the noisy stove exhaust fans , or the oil in the pan crackling , I have the air in the corner and I have to have the volume maxed out in that scenario ,
Either that or wear headphones which fixes that problem instantly ( just thought I’d mention it though ).
Speaking of headphones and more to the point Bluetooth , I have some older model Bose headphones , and occasionally while I have music or something playing on the iPad while it is in the kitchen and I make a run out to my letter box out the front of the house or the rubbish bins a good 50+ feet away , and the phones hold connection to the iPad air4 ,
Again just thought I’d mention it, as that seems a stellar Bluetooth performance to me for both devices.
    Sorry for the long post.

@@revup9973 it really comes down to what your needs are. I find the Air 5 with Magic Keyboard is enabling me to mostly (but not quite) replace my Mac Mini Desktop and the size enables multi-tasking with the increased screen sized realestate compared to my mini. However, it’s heavy and it tends to stay on a stationary stable surface like a table, desk or sometimes my lap in landscape mode. You don’t really need a magic keyboard, a stand and Bluetooth keyboard would suffice if needed for workflows… but I like the typing experience of the Magic). However it’s my Mini 5 (and it would be similar for the newer, faster 6) that is my constant companion due to its portable size and weight - it’s one-hand carry. Different uses though, I use it in mostly portrait mode for lighter admin tasks with two-thumb typing, light note taking with pencil, reading, scrolling… and landscape mode for streaming video and games.

    • @rebeccaw9656
      @rebeccaw9656 2 года назад

@@ramchander6719 If you can afford more storage, get it. But I’ve found that my iPad mini 5 with 64 gigs that I’ve had since 2019, has rarely even got near its limit, therefore I was comfortable with getting the base model for Air 5. I’ve been an undergrad student since 2020, and have used my iPad as a secondary device to my computer - even made media on it for assignments. If you have wi-fi at home and at your place of education, it’s easy to save everything to the cloud and only download media to watch offline as you need it. Your note taking apps will save your work to the cloud. Save your student PDF’s and study materials to your cloud drive (iCloud, Google Drive or OneDrive), and then drag and drop them into your note taking apps - ensure your note taking apps back up to the cloud - this has the added benefit of cloud syncing your work to your computer and phone - and takes up very little ‘space’ on your device’s memory. You can also get a USB C hard drive or SSD to plug in externally if you find you need more storage.

Yes @ram i went with the base storage. I have a lot of iCloud storage. 2tb with the apple one plan. So far it hasn’t been an issue. Like i stated though, its primarily a note taking, pen tool for photoshop/illustrator, and media consumption device. my phone does the heavy lifting of all the apps and gaming. although, i do have xbox cloud on the iPad. But that’s just streaming games.

Working with Only office docs like excel, presentations and word? do share your user experience when browsing a web and perhaps bloggers and working and designing their blog what the feel is? I think a far better choice than the iPad Air 2022 is the iPad Pro 2021, you basically get the same thing for a similar price, but you get 4 speakers, a 120Hz display, a 128GB version and other features. Not too long ago I was deciding between these iPads and ended up buying the iPad Pro 2021, it offers a bit more for similar amount of money.

Thanks for the review. I got the 64 gb as I am not a gaming or media creation user. (Hopefully I won’t regret it). No squeaky sound for me. I am surprised you didn’t comment 9n the battery life. Great review! Came to your video, because i'm struggling to decide if the 256GB is what i should get, as the Air will be the main device for my wife and kids (both under 5). In Canada the difference to the base 11" pro is only $50, but we really don't need the pro features. I'm just getting a Mini for myself, since it's mainly going to be my content consumption device.

I ordered a 256 for storage down the road.
I don’t know how useful 64gb will be then ~2-3years from now. I was planning to try 64 and a 1tb ssd just for storage but from what I have seen you cannot work off of ssds. This may change with future os updates.
For me the 128 in the base 11pro at 799 is a downgrade.

Of iPad OS 16 apple is integrating a new feature called virtual memory which will
Allow you to take storage and convert to memory for apps

As someone who isn't a creator and who already has a gaming laptop, I realised I don't need the power of the M1 chip. I'd instead would make more use of mobility & space. Managed to get a used Ipad Air 4 with 256GB + 4G for $450, and that will hopefully be a better bang for my buck over the cheapest M1 version that has 64GB and only WiFi.

iPad Air is not an 11’’ device, as presented here. It has a 10.9’’ screen, and while pixel density is the same, there are less pixels due to smaller size. And this difference wasn’t even mentioned. It is very minor, but still let the viewers decide if it is maybe of importance to them. After using iPad Pro 11 for quite some time, I do notice a bigger bezel and smaller screen on the Air. And I haven’t noticed FaceID mentioned? It is a very nice thing to have compared to the Air.
