Hey Tim, I’m not monetized yet, that ad control thing is interesting. Individually speaking, I pay RUclips $120~ a year as a premium subscription and I never see ads. I know they still pay creators for the time I watch, although I’m not certain exactly how it works. I swear, I forget sometimes about people having to watch ads!
Hey Tim, with so many color choices it'd be nice to be able to see what each color looks like. Maybe not the t-shirt (some websites do displays the t-shirt with the color selected) but at least like a page on the website with a sample of all the colors would be great, especially for the OG one... should I go with a soft cream or whit or silver? I'll see if I can sneak this in here... 😁 There is a Github script hack for RUclips that will kill the commercials. They came up with it and basically are giving RUclips the middle finger for implementing the popup about ad blockers. It works really well! (Shhhhh... Don't tell Tim!)
If the University of Vinyl was a real university, you wouldn't make your money off merch. You'd make it criminally overcharging people for worthless credits. Come on, Tim.
There are so many channels I've just unsubscribed from because of what you've pointed out. It's pure laziness on the creator's side to let Google choose what and where the adverts are shown. One channel in particular I used to watch would have a product placement in, and then for the 20 minute video there would be an advert nearly every 5 minutes. So kudos for you for doing things properly, it's appreciated!
