People need to start putting more respect on Joe Schmidt's name. Did his Ireland team rely on box kicks from 9 and a 10 making all the decisions? Yes, but he had Connor Murray and Jimble Sexsandwich as his half backs, so that was what made sense at the time. He didn't have long with NZ before the WC, but he got them playing like the All Blacks again, and now he's showing what he can do with a team of young ballers

@@GnJs6PackTraining Not even to the end of year. My understanding is his contract is up at the end of the Lions series. Schmidt re-signing will depend much on how his son (with epilepsy) is going.
One of the things that I don't understand about the way the game is officiated now is that if a tackler leads with a shoulder to the face its a red card. No arguing, it's off you go. The Ireland try at 16:52 the green player leads with a shoulder to the head on Kellaway who goes as low as he can but gets collected by the shoulder to the face. How is this different in terms of impact to a tackler leading with a shoulder to the face? Both have the same potential for injury yet one is treated as a red card offence and one is completely ignored. To be clear here I don't think either SHOULD be a red card unless the shoulder to head contact is absolutely blatant and intended to cause injury, I am just talking about how the rules now are officiated so as to minimise the head injuries players can receive when they carry the ball but give no such consideration to the defender making a tackle. It's baffling.
Irelands downfall is its coaching. I'm not pointing the finger at Andy Farrell or Simon Easterby. I'm more so pointing the finger at attack coach Andrew Goodman, Forwards and Lineout Coach Paul O'Connell and scrum coach John Fogarty. Andrew Goodman at the end of his tenure with Leinster, had the boys in blue playing a very stale, predictable and mechanic brand of rugby, that is exactly how Ireland are playing now. Get Felix Jones in as attack coach whenever they can. Paul O'Connell needs to step down as line out coach. Irelands lineout used to be its strength now it is a clear weakness. The sheer fact that Joe McCarthy said they had to come up with lineouts on the fly shows how ill prepared O'Connell is. The same can be said about the scrum. I would love to have Greg Feek back as scum coach and bring in Victor Matfield to bring some of the South African Line out DNA to Irish rugby. Don't always defer to Irish coaches simply because they are Irish, get the best at what they do into the coaching staff. Ireland would have a great mix of Irish and international coaches Andy Farrell - Head Coach Simon Easterby - Forwards and Defense Coach Felix Jones- Backs and Attack Coach Greg Feek - Scrum Coach Jonathan Sexton- Kicking and skills coach. Victor Matfield - Lineout coach.
Did the rules on lineouts change recently? I thought you had to ensure the jumper was safe and therefore couldn't just drop them or let them go in the air.
The game was closer than people seem to realise. I understand this was a prematch analysis, and it was a good one, too. But I have heard little about the last 10 minutes of the match. When Tom Wright takes the ball at 72 minutes. As I understand the laws, if his foot is on the line before he touches the ball, it should be an Australian throw because he is already out. If he touches the ball first, an Irish throw is the correct call. And the try was scored off that lineout. I will say the only view I have found of that segment looks like it was the right call. But it is oh so close.😥

It’s to do with lateness and the ref. I’d say the Irish were mostly getting tackled as they did the tip on. Having said that, there were a few that looked like tackling without the ball, but if the ref doesn’t call it, then you keep doing it!
The kiwis were tackling Irish players who were running lines to be potential ball carriers. The Australians were tackling Irish players as or just after they had passed the ball (i.e. were actual ball carriers who can be tackled). Player A has the ball with B & C running outside them and passes the ball to C. The kiwis were tackling B & C. The Aussies were tackling A & C. Timing of tackle on A has to be very good. Too late and you will be penalized. But any tackle of B will be a penalty unless B initiates the contact.
How can you review Australia's Autumn series as a whole without ONCE mentioning Scotland smashing them the week before? You didn't even show a clip! It's like it never happened
It really seems like a game that deserves an analysis too- to have a whole video on the Boks pumping Wales but glide over the Scotland game is odd to me but it’s still possible he’ll come out with one ig
When you see it back like this, the amount of off the ball pushing and pulling and late hits from Australia really went unpunished by the ref. If Ireland had been at that there would be howls of indignation from fans (not Australians, mainly English and some Scots for some reason).
Nah, as an England fan, I'd argue that criticism would come from a couple of countries who have hated Irelands rise... and neither of them are the ones you've mentioned!
Not a single Scottish video this time Squidge? Ireland beat Aus and get one - week before Scotland smash them and nothing. Not even Scotland losing to SA? Have we disappointed you so much? 😂
The Wallabies played a b side against Scotland. The Wallabies beat Argentina in Argentina before they fell apart in the second game and lost to them. They would have beaten Ireland if the officiating was better
That second test in Argentina - Australia were going well up until half time. There was the notable absence of McReight and there was some sickness in the touring party. Coach and players haven't used it as an excuse but it looks very much like more than a few players were not 100% healthy and fell in a hole with 20 minutes to go. Against Scotland, the starting hooker was injured the day before the match. The lineout calling lock was out with illness on the day of the match. The team also missed a couple of on-field training sessions that week due to the weather. I suspect that illness was also affecting several players who did start but played below their usual standard. (Bell was out of the Ireland game with illness, so there was something going around.) One factor that was in the control of the coach that did cost the Aussies in Edinburgh was relying on Kellaway as injury cover for the centres. He can manage at Super Rugby level but got badly shown up at 13 when Suaalii went off. I expect Schmidt to transition to having a player in #23 who can properly cover wing/centre at test level (Flook or Daugunu most likely). To analyse Scotland's win: Kellaway missed tackles. Salakai-Loto missed a tackle. The lineout was pants because it lacked variety. Gordon and Lolesio's line kicking was awful. For the Ireland match, while Squidge mentions how good young Prendergast's line kicking was, he was kind enough to not point out how very poor Gordon, Lolesio and McDermott's line kicks were. It's a significant weakness in the current Australian team.
Good game to Ireland but a number of calls went their way, the missed knock on at 13.52 which led to their game levelling try in the second half, as well as the face to face contact on Robert Valentini which in the Wales game saw Kerevi get a red card was only given a penalty. Not only this, but the fact that Sam Prendergast was playing baffles me given he should have seen red due to his late tucked shoulder to the chin of Kitione Salawa in the Fiji game and been sidelined for multiple weeks.
I don't think it's fair to say that a few calls went their way when a few call also didn't go their way so it's irrelevant. Seems pretty sad that you had to mention this after such a great test match . Aus were lucky not to have given away a yellow in this game which probably would have seen ireland score even more tries.
@@user-is9of Hey man, I may just be seeing the game from a biased stand point as an Australian supporter, I understand that in rugby 50/50 calls go each way throughout the game but i just gave 2 examples of fairly big calls that didn't fall the way of the Wallabies. Do you mind telling me which calls didn't go there way? Where was the potential yellow card for Aus? not trying to have an argument just trying to understand what you saw that I missed. It was a great test match that had me on the edge of my seat throughout and was worth the early morning
13:50 "Keenan winning it" - Well, let's be clear. Keenan lost it forward and it contacted Tom Wright before Keenan won it back, which is a knock on for anyone following rugby's laws. The ref was happy to get a special TMO check on the grubber kick that Tom Wright had to usher into touch, but managed to miss checking on this and given the ref missed it, the TMO should have been calling it. One of the AR's also missed Mack Hansen's foot being clearly across the touchline before he passed back into the field of play late in the game. There were a few too many significant mistakes by this crew of refs for this level of match. (And, yes, I'm aware that the refs missed a few things the other way.)
" nowhere near" but prendergast's kicking turned the momentum around just after half time allowing crowley to come on with Ireland only down by a couple of points
@@user-is9of his kicking was woeful. The three aimless marks he kicked into the 22 while the game was in the balance should’ve shown you that. Not to mention the conversion that I’d have kicked myself.
Sorry but taking out players without the ball is a foul. If the ref and the tmo had done their job Australia would have been walloped. In addition Valetini should have seen yellow.
Imagine if Ireland start to be actually penalized for taking out players without the ball, shoulders to the head, and cleaning straight from the side or even sometimes from the opposite side. They would be nowhere.

@@MikePapow unlikly, ireland remd to raise their game when they need to been winning but playing bad lalty
Except againt nz were they got found out by playing poorly then too late.

Anyone else finding it increasingly difficult to tell Andy Farrell from WWE wrestler Kevin Owens?
(And, yes, I'm aware that the refs missed a few things the other way.)
aussies will knock out ireland in the QF of next WC
Crowley really saved Irish blushes in my opinion. Prendegast nowhere near ready for test rugby.
Na he's the guy
" nowhere near" Sure what does Farrell know?
@@flatulentpaul I’d say he knows we didn’t score a single point against Nz and Argentina once Crowley came off.
Sevu Reece should be in jail
Simple , ireland played badly but still beat them, how did Australia not win? Ireland scored 3 tries, that’s how.
You need to cover the 7s
First
With the help of the ref
Squarespace is not user friendly
With the help of ref how else 😂
With the tactics Australia were using aren’t Australia guilty of tackling players off the ball?
Imagine if Ireland start to be actually penalized for taking out players without the ball, shoulders to the head, and cleaning straight from the side or even sometimes from the opposite side. They would be nowhere.
They didn’t hold us off. The ref won them the game. End of.
