- in this video I start the build out for my metal shop. I make some super simple metal work tables where I laminate sheet metal to some plywood and build simple one inch square tubing bases.

Nice idea . . .
The magnets are a brilliant idea
Appreciate that komar!
This vid really inspires me to get into welding. Thank you!
I enjoyed your video. I purchased those magnets because you showed them. I noted on my order it was because of you video. Mag 90 150R!! Thanks again
Loved the build, will put my own twist on it but 90% all you dude! I love the Festool saw and track system as well.
Hi im just getting started in metalworking thank you for the advice cheers
OMG...I was searching for table plans for my new chop saw. I love the idea of the metal top/magnet setup! Thanks for an awesome idea, dude!
that magnet stop idea is awesome!
Thank you!
I bought a 210 mp a few months ago and I love it
Good,,,отличная работа,молодец!👍
I like these easy to make work tables John! They seem easy to move when the time comes to rearrange the shop. Which we all seem to do sooner or later. Great Job on the video!
Yea theyre mega simple, im just glad to have them done
Really like the metal top idea. As long as it stays clean, I can see using it for a woodworking shop too and utilizing same magnet stop idea.
Yea it could work, I wouldn’t want hardwoods rubbing on metal. But could definitely work
Nice work!
Thank you!
Nice build! Those legs really came together quick. Love how your shop is coming together.
Yea its exciting to see it working!
Awesome work John! 👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred!
Awesome video and I love the project!
Thanks Brent!
Able to get repeatable cuts with magnets but you move the magnet like a quarter inch when you showed it😂
It has to be so nice to be able to separate your shops. I struggle with my 24’x48’ shop and just need to put a couple walls up and separate the wood from the metal. So tired of having to cover all the wood when I’m grinding etc. Another great vid!
Yea the separation has been quite nice !
Nice job John! I didn't realize that contact cement would hold metal to wood, so thanks! I learned something new.
Peace,
DC
Yep. Contact cement is one of the better adhesives for bonding dissimilar materials and especially for dealing with adhearing sheet materials face to face.
Nomad Boatbuilding , thank you. That will help me with some of my summer projects!
Take care,
DC
Yea you just want to be careful with heat application, it'll reactivate and peel up then
Great job John! I love the welders mask!
Glad you like it, i dig it too!
Nice build John!
Thanks Jordan!
Love it, and hopefully I'll see guys up at Spring Make!
Awesome brother! Dont forget that killer code!
Of courses! That's a huge savings
Awesome work John! Just started listening to your podcast while I’m in my workshop. 12 episodes in so far, it’s great mate!
So glad you enjoy it !
It’s great man! You and Brad make a good team! Kicked off on Instagram with my page after listening to your Instagram series. About to hit the episode about RUclips I think so looking forward to that one!
Sorry I know this was awhile ago, but where did you get your adjustable feet for your 1” square tubing?
Great stuff John! I'll be sure to keep this in mind if I go down that road ;)
thanks brother!
Nice build John. I'd love to have the room to have a build table and a chop saw table like that. If I ever hit the lottery ...
We all have dreams my friend!
hello good video thank you very much! Can you help me to know where to buy that magnet you have? regards
So the idea for the chop saw platform being lower than the rest of the table would be to make the chop saw surface even when laying down material across the table and into the saw?
what software do you use for your blueprints?
Great build!!..Where did you that magnet..I need one!!
Thikness of the sheet and the plywood? What glue do you use?
Nice benches. Good build. Is the exhaust fan broken? I was admiring the nice fan in the wall to exhaust all the welding fumes in the beginning of the video. But you never turned it on!
Hey John. What thickness was the metal top?
Такой стеллаж может быстро прогнуться. Я бы усилили его ещё😊
Cut The Longest Piece First.
I figured that out myself when doing a woodworking project back in ~1992.
92 mustve been a good year for you, you'de be surprised how many people have worked for me and dont start that way though....
When you were plasma cutting the sheet metal for your table tops, What kind of guide were you using?
Was just a basic straight edge from the home store
Could this work as a beginner welding table? I'm into woodworking right now but would like to start using steel in my builds.
It could. You wouldn’t want to put any heat into it tho. It’ll warp and delaminates .
Great build video, but nudge the volume down on the background music when you're talking, it's very distracting.
You got it brother
Where is your welding table from? Didn't see it under your Metal working tools link. Thanks!
I think it's a certiflat welding table, you can Google it like that
Its a certiflat welding table from tab and slot.
Thanks!
Sir what is the initial investment for your fabrication business.
As always nice work there John M, who vandalized your welding helmet?
Pretty sure I have the sickest welding helmet on the youtube!
Someone call a plumber there’s a crack at 6:50 that needs filling - great video though
I'll be sure to call someone haha
Its me again John!! Wonderful video great idea. Its just for the chop saw or your going to add more weight to it? It doesn't have enough support for myself but thats me also WHEN ARE YOU GETTING A MILL? I love to see what you can do with one.
So I weigh a lot’ and I was standing on the tables running electrical and with close to 300lbs on the edge that’s plenty for what it’ll be used for. You could use a higher gauge steel for more weight if you want. And a mill is a whole other world I dunno if I’m ready for!
Ok understand. Keep up your videos! I break during work just to watch you!
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺, Great build mate, quick question tho, if you have a vertical metal cutting bandsaw why the chopsaw station, I realise you have a reason I just racking my head over it, anyway love the channel keep the videos coming
It’s much much faster than he bandsaw. Basically the only reason and has a small footprint. The bandsaw is huge and slow but a more accurate cut
Fair enough, i understand that 👍 like I said keep the vids coming have a great day or night or whatever the time is over there haha
Haha yea it’s all relative to your own individual workflow. Thanks for the support! 10:30 am here !
No worries, it’s 1:30am where I am in case you wanted to know haha anyways have a good one 👍
Did you build or buy the welding table? Do you have a link to the build or the buy?
Never mind, I found the video. ruclips.net/video/--dPaz97hFU/видео.html
Certiflat at weldtables.com Check out my instagram(57moto) for my smaller version of his table that I made some modifications on. I also use it in some of my videos. Additionally, earlier this week they still had free shipping. Super nice tables in different sizes. They are called FabBlocks on the site.
I purchased it from weldtables.com. I have another video on my YT putting it together. It was a bear
You made the same mistake as April Wilkerson. When you have to make angled cuts the chop saw doesn't rotate but instead the metal does so it will hit your wall. Unless of course you're planning on cutting angles a different way 😀
Got the bandsaw for angles ! Haha
Leave the chop saw free/not bolted to it's work top. Simply rotate the saw to desired angle while keeping metal straight. Until they start making metal chop saws to rotate like wood chop saws, this is an easy work around. Best, @HoneyOnWales
Why do you cut your longest pieces first?
What's the thickness of the metal top?
its 20g!
Howmuch was that lev rack
I believe they have their pricing on their website
So i had the same tables made up until one day i was tig welding AC aluminum and suddenly the plywood underneath went on flames.Otherwise good shop tables not for HF welding tho.Metal and wood do not work good together
polskie nazwisko......mmmm
Turn that music off...
Might turn it up! to 11....
Interesting work, but the background music really is annoying - too loud, got in the way of your dialog.
Why have music louder than the talking just ruined it all
This might have something interesting to say, but I couldn't watch because of the music.
