I bought a 3/4" hole punch from a craft store. I sit and watch TV and squeeze that punch knocking out cards from cereal boxes and just about any cardboard I have. Great video. Thanks for posting.
I use a 20 gauge brass, minus the plastic, with 4 slots filed in the exterior wall. Then slightly bend the 4 sections inward for clearance. I used 1/4-20 bolt, nut, lock washer hider. Chuck it in my drill press and away I go! Cheap. Effective etc. I couldn’t find my hole saw bit to copy his, but mine works ok too
Good job Buck. I did this too, but then I found a even better cutter. I use the metal cap on a shotgun shell. Make yourself a sizer at 3/4 inch and size down the shell cap. Heat the metal cap with a torch and pull off the plastic hull. Then use a machine screw and lock nut through the middle so you can put it into your drill press. Thin metal on the shell cap cuts real easy and never goes dull.
I watched several videos tonight and was about to spend $40 on punches and supplies. I come across your video and WOW. I have old hole saws I can use. Thank you so much for your video.
Remember, a 3/4” hole saw creates an outside dimension of 3/4”. For the inside dimension to be 3/4”, a larger size saw would be needed, UNLESS the inside edge is ground away.
I use a 3/4" hole punch from Michaels for black powder shells, but this is genius! I was wondering about other materials for wads and spacers, and this sounds like the ticket.
Great video sir. Thanks for sharing. I also liked the flip top vitamin bottle as a jar to keep them in. I use a couple of vitamins that have those lids and never thought about what to do with them.
I found a hole 🕳 punch block at harbor freight. It punches from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch. The 3/4 works great in 12 gauge. Not as fast but in a few minutes I can have a lot of 3/4 overshot cards. And this punch set will punch metal as well for other projects. I use about any cardboard box I find.
I made the same but I cut a slot in the side ,when the wad reaches the slot it is thrown out, so make a shield round the pillar drill.22mm cutter for 12g
See the older generation's use. Common sense and ingenuity. The result is good quality and a good feeling, unlike the newbies with good feelings/emotions and crappy results.
You can go to Michael's and get a 3/4" hole punch and use any card you can get your hands on, including your unwanted Xmas cards, cereal boxes, your ex-wife's photos! If you want to go REALLY cheaper than that, use sheep's wool or cotton balls and seal with melted candle wax.
The best untapped resources in the USA. The older folks who have common sense!
Thank You Sir.
indeed a wiser man..
We need more people like this on RUclips, could learn so much
Soak it up while you can. These older folks won't be around forever. This guy reminds me of my grandpa, I'd give 1000 of my days for 1more with him
Whichever kid gets to spend Christmas at this Grandpa's house is a lucky son of a gun
Well said.
This guy is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! I hope he's still around!
This old timer is a badass
i hope he is ok...he hasnt uploaded in over a year now

I love it Buck!! Gonna make up several of these... I just picked up a drill press! Wade
This is a smart idea. Way easier even than using a hollow punch mounted in a vise and whacking them out with a rubber mallet. Thanks!
Great idea using the drill press. It has to be easier and faster and much cheaper too. In a contest, you would win "America's Grandpa" :)
Very innovative and clever. Pay attention youth!…. There is a wealth of value in WISDOM!
Genius !! Simple, cheap and effective.

Big thumbs up. My father was a Sea Bee stationed in the Aleutians during WWII... Can do! I wasn’t smart enough so I joined the Marines instead.
Great idea. I got some old hole saws that are wore out, now I can give them a new life. Thanks for the tip.👍

Thank you for the valuable information, buck. I’ll be trying this out for my 12 and 20 loads.
Great tip. And thanks for your service.
Great idea.. thank you for your contribution sir.
Wow! Terrific advice! Thanks!
Very helpful! Thank you! 👍
I like the idea of cork wads for black powder loads. Felt is generally recommended, so cork seems to be a good substitute.
Thanks for the good ideas.
Great tips.... how about replacement for the plastic wad?
got to be the seebee hat . Thanks for your service
Awesome thanks for sharing

Old school reloader… great idea
I just getting ready to order some punches from Amazon while surfing RUclips. Then you pop up with the best idea ! 👍👍👍
GREAT info. thank you.
your idea works great.

I appreciate the tip.
What size do you use for 12 gauge over powder? The 3/4 is too small
3/4 is for 20ga... 7/8 is for 12ga I believe...
Thanks, great idea
I noticed he did not say what the diameter of the hole saw he used for 12 GA.
thank you so much for sharing
