Many thanks SFS for your vids on the MPC 5K. Because of your instructions I am enjoying learning the machine itself and loving its versatility. You are a beast on showing the ins and outs of this machine. Your level of expertise and enthusiasm in communicating the operational processes alone really motivates me to press forward learning what I’m capable of doing on this bad boy. I can’t afford an MPC X just yet and probably don’t really need one since I’m diving into this 5K. Once again, “many thanks”.
Great job on this video man, you should do a lot more. There are a lot of videos on here that just say do this or that and don't really explain in detail the way you did. Great job!!!
Without the MPC series, we'd probably not have Maschine today. :) Haven't tried the Renaissance yet, but I believe they've improved alot on pretty much all of the functions. The MPC5000 is, in hardware years, a quite old mashine now (just listen to the synth and filter!).
Great job homie I love the mpc I started with the mpc60 and fell in love with the 2500 I have ableton maschine and all that stuff but by the time I get the sample make it a wave and importing I'm already started makeing my track lol.... bit to each his own whatever works
hey bro what man? I was hopping you can answer a question for me about the 5000? I gotta 5000 and a 2000 XL and I noticed on the 2000xl in trim mode it has an option of play samples before to start or after to end the feature is essential for sampling. Do you know were I would find the feature in the 5000, and do know what I'm talking about. I've been calling akai and some of those dudes never even seen a 2000xl so that's why im hitting you up
bro, you dont need anything to tell you the tempo/ bpm of a song. you can tell by just listening. tap ur foot, clap ur hands, snap ur fingers, anything to help you feel a song and find the beat, its very easy to tell...on most songs that is. there are rare occasions where its quite difficult to find the beat but most songs are easy to tell.
@DJWill139 thanks bro, i will update it, but by doing so, do i loose any stock sounds or samples or anything..i mean does it format the mpc or is it just an update?
Ryan DeLong The 4000 has a lot more support. I own a 5000 and like it. But AKAI left a bad taste in my mouth after dropping all support shortly after. This think with more updates could be better. There's a list of pros and cons on mpcforums 5000 section. The 4000k also has a higher resulotion sampler. 4000 users really love them. Personally I'd rather have my 5000, sp12 and 3000 combo.
man i just got an mpc5000 but it seems to have a problem, i cant enter "program" or nothing on the pads..i mean i press "mode" and when i press any pad, it doesnt go anywhere man...it just stays in the "window" view..i'm kind of a new user to mpc's but do you have any idea if its a defect from the mpc or is there something wrong im doing?
Ayy man i was just checkin out your videos and u got dope shit and looks like you got the hang of it, i was just curious if u could give me some pointers on how to put samples on the mpc 5000 i just picked it up about a month ago and im really in to that boom bap hip hop real noise and just needed a few leads on the basics dawg, i would appreciate some feedback but anything helps so i could just get started, thanks.
WhatUp!....Im new to MPC Essentials.....I figured out how to pitch a sample across the pads as a keygroup...but I have everything in same Seq and Program ........so it affects my drum programming.....What do I need to separate ?.....sorry if this sounds dummm
put it in a DAW like cubase or protools or any multirack seq.that uses plugins you have to use multiple instances like one for drums one for samples ect.Hope this hepls i have one.
i personally use trial n error. you dont really need it cus u can change the bpm of the beat to match it rather than the sample. just keep changing it to see. but u can download free bpm counters off the net. i use reason 5 and record but am looking to buy an mpc. either 2500 or 5000. maybe renaissance but found a cheap mv8800. might go with that.
@ARFucka hehe..dude..if it sounds right to you that's all that matters...I do it the poor mans way...i take the headphone output and hook it str8 to the computer input on the back of my CPU...if you have Windows 7 then you will have Sound Recorder...you record it there and wahla!!! it's an wav. file...the effects I'm still working on...still learning just like you...I hope that helps...
Everyone has their own style and weapon of choice. I personally agree mostly with what you're saying, as I use the Renaissance, which works with the PC. The flow is definitely quicker. However, I also enjoy using the MPC 500. A lot of people don't like having to use a computer, and many can recognize a signature sound that certain samplers and drum machines produce.
As a quick side note: I came to producing after being a drummer for 15+ years (and couldn't have a kit in my new apartment). It's nice to actually be able to hit the pads and get sort of a drumming feeling. The pads are also great for "live" performances when friends are over.
We need To Bring the art of sampling back .

it's about time I'm able to find a video that really breaks it down and builds it back up the way it should be. I'm subscribing right now
Nothing beats an MPC when it comes sampling and druming
Wow I didn’t even know mine could do this. Thank you.
Damn that beat was DOPE 🔥🔥🔥🔥 thanks for sharing family!!! Just found your channel , don't give up on it
That’s insane. That’s actually called time stretching but they made so easy. Wow.
GOOD LOOK'N ON THIS 1 FAM!!! THIS IS HOW A INFORMATIVE MPC VID SHOULD BE DONE!!!!
Dropping that real sauce 🔥🔥🔥
Great job on this video man, you should do a lot more. There are a lot of videos on here that just say do this or that and don't really explain in detail the way you did. Great job!!!
looks like a frightening set of options. I have a 1000. just learned how to sample on it.
Thanks for uploading this man. Very helpful!! Nice beat too
Homie I'm not an MPC user but I really like how you locked the tempo up with the beat. Peace.
Great Job!!! STraight and to the point!!!

@Soundsforsamplers Hey does the MPC 1000 have TUNE? I can't find it, I only see PITCH
Cool thanks
@akatzman100 you are so right you just gotta trust you ears...no one can hear it the way you hear it..someone else will hear it differently...

Really wanting to grab a standalone and the 4000 or 5000 would be amazing to have.
Ryan DeLong I got the mpc x it’s dope and has a stand-alone
Ryan DeLong same but the x is just way out of my price range
I have the 5000 it's actually a good machine worth getting
Diddddumm I had the 5000 I miss it

bruh, can you make a tutorial on making a bassline...i'm hurting i'm new to this MPC thang and the 5000 is nice...been at it for 3 months now help???
do what josephcee said, fingersnap or tap yo foot and keep the rythm. if that dont work, get a metronome, they like 2 bucks each
It has BPM detect, however it is hit or miss on actually catching the correct BPM.
If I get me one, will Puff Daddy coin be rollin in ?
just a question, how can you tell if is a PERFECT 4 bar or whatever bar loop, would it really matter if its .1 percent off?
Ayy man i was just checkin out your videos and u got dope shit and looks like you got the hang of it, i was just curious if u could give me some pointers on how to put samples on the mpc 5000 i just picked it up about a month ago and im really in to that boom bap hip hop real noise and just needed a few leads on the basics dawg, i would appreciate some feedback but anything helps so i could just get started, thanks.
hy!please tell me where is this sample from!!!thx a lot.....nice beat man ;)
WhatUp!....Im new to MPC Essentials.....I figured out how to pitch a sample across the pads as a keygroup...but I have everything in same Seq and Program ........so it affects my drum programming.....What do I need to separate ?.....sorry if this sounds dummm
put it in a DAW like cubase or protools or any multirack seq.that uses plugins you have to use multiple instances like one for drums one for samples ect.Hope this hepls i have one.
You have to create a new Program and put samples and drums on seperate programs so it doesn't cut off the sound that was playing previously.
put the sample on a pad then push it and use tap tempo, then just fine tune the pitch ;)
i personally use trial n error. you dont really need it cus u can change the bpm of the beat to match it rather than the sample. just keep changing it to see. but u can download free bpm counters off the net. i use reason 5 and record but am looking to buy an mpc. either 2500 or 5000. maybe renaissance but found a cheap mv8800. might go with that.
can a 2kxl also change the tune and then pitch it back to the original pitch?
yes it is
PITCHSHIFT IT!
How to record perfect 4 bars sample?
Is this possible to do on MPC1000?
@ARFucka hehe..dude..if it sounds right to you that's all that matters...I do it the poor mans way...i take the headphone output and hook it str8 to the computer input on the back of my CPU...if you have Windows 7 then you will have Sound Recorder...you record it there and wahla!!! it's an wav. file...the effects I'm still working on...still learning just like you...I hope that helps...

Can you pitch shift on 2500 too?
its literally unusable, gives its a watery lofi effect (no in a good way though)
yes i am
Anyone have a 5000 for sell??? or, where can i get a gud one under $1000
I don't get why people don't just do this on computers/maschine now that they're super available. Why MPC today?
Everyone has their own style and weapon of choice. I personally agree mostly with what you're saying, as I use the Renaissance, which works with the PC. The flow is definitely quicker. Why use turntables when you can use CDJ's or Digi tables? Choice my nigga!
he just bought it that day lol
@xspidermanplayax trust your ears
@mgdadon124 sample snitches get stiches!
All this could be done in Ableton in half the time.
Hahah Ableton bshhhttt
To use Ableton you need a sloppy timing pc and lot of midi and sound interface
At the end it sounds like ish
i want that fuckin sample what is it from?
not bad but that's just 2 much work 4 me
very good!!
look at "larsone stinson beatmaking"
Maschine does...chops quicker and way easier. jus my opinion. ;)
