Right?! When I see those I'm like, "Does she have to consider keeping this perfect rainbow look when she's grocery shopping? That would be so impossible and impractical. As if figuring out what's for dinner every night of your life isn't already a struggle enough."
I was actually telling myself I needed to go to the store and get another under the sink organizer for our downstairs bathroom, we moved our daughters hair stuff downstairs to make getting ready for school easier. Yesterday I ended up reorganizing under my sink and found out I didn’t need the one I had because what I had fit perfect into little baskets we already had. Felt so good to have both bathrooms reorganized without spending a dime, even managed to free up 2 smaller containers 😅 📦

Nat, we are a fam minimalist and since we switched from towels to bathrobes for each of the members of our family laundry is amazing! Fam of 5 here too, all boys and mamma bear 😋 unless they are mega mega dirty we use the robes from monday to sun and wash them once a week on sundays, and if we need an extra towel we grab on from our pool or guess towels we have. Since we use the bathrobes after we come out of the shower and by then we are clean and smelling nice and fresh, we dont see the point in using a towel a day. In case you want to try this for your family of 5 too! 😊 have an amazing week and thanks for sharing real life functional stuff!! 😘

My husband probably has three times the amount clothes I have! He basically has two sets of work cloths, when he’s in the office he wears business attire and when he’s in the field he wears work cloths.
And then he also has winter work gear and rain work gear! So many clothes but not his fault!
But since we have simplified the rest of our house the mass of needed clothes doesn’t bother me!
Prop’s to my husband, he has gotten really good at getting ride of old clothes that he doesn’t like,want or need!!! 😉

I love that you are flexible enough to switch dressers and create more hanging space for your husband. Sharing is never about 50/50, it's about meeting at the spot where everyone's needs are met. I used to explain to my middle school students that being "fair" meant equitable not equal. Love your new place and watching the story unfold.
Just found you guys and started watching. Wow I love the look of the wooden hangers! The whole one top shelf is wide open. That's amazing. I think I'd be adding a pretty framed photo or art piece to look at in there.

The wood hangers look awesome! I always hear that velvet is the way to go because they’re slim and then you can fit more items in your closet, but your closet is future goals - to declutter enough, only keeping what I actually wear and love, and then having the option of wooden hangers.

Hi! I’m in the process of packing “keepers” up for the first trip to Texas at Thanksgiving - furniture, decor’, kitchen dishes & appliances, etc. (a full u-haul trailer load our son will drop off on his way back to Alabama). That will pretty much leave just paperwork, safe(s), and tools for the second load in early spring when house finally goes on the market. In the meantime we will be living with the 75% of items left that will be going on auction then. Will be so much easier working around less. We are downsizing from a 3-4 bedroom house to about 500 sq ft in a portion of our daughter’s new home due to health issues. Definitely ready for the change.
As much as I love the Pinterest worrthy shiny afters, I do love something about the lived in afters that shows how the orgainsation system is working for that person!

My husband is the same way when it comes to clothes and needing to have separate work clothes as well, and I had to get to the point where it doesn’t bother me that he has more clothes than I do or that I would like him to have. I always thought he was against me when it came to simplifying our life, but really what is minimal for him is just different than what is minimal for me. Either way, it goes much better when you work with people and their needs rather than against them.
