Hey Matt, the "missing" light boxes for the island pendants might have been left out intentionally. As an electrician, often times we will run the wires for island pendants but not install the boxes because if the island shifts a little in any direction the boxes will be in the wrong spot, so we cut the boxes into the exact spot they need to be after the island is installed. Typically on trim/finish.

Maybe Mere is like me. Ever time I hear someone say “open concept” when talking about a structure that physically exists, I just want to beat them over the head with a dictionary.
Maybe she doesn’t like calling it a mansion because it doesn’t yet fit that description. Mansion’s actual definition is “Large Dwelling”. Which technically it is not. It’s a large structure for sure, and potential will be a dwelling in the foreseeable future. But not a dwelling yet.

The electricians will cut in the pendant lights above the island later when the island is actually installed. The wire is looped above, they’ll cut a hole, pull the wire out and use a remodel round box

Matt I can't explain how much I love this series! I've been studying for my home inspection certificate while following along with this series and it's been great seeing everything get put together! It has been a great motivator for my studying, and also an awesome reference guide to see something that I can't picture with my textbooks. I've worked doing this stuff but it's not always easy to recall things so being able to hit up one of the videos in the series and see the inside of a wall or something has been pretty helpful! Appreciate the hard work you put into this!

my guestimate, based on 4 ft wide sheet rock, is that the ceiling, to the bottom of the beams is 22 to 23 ft, and top is 23 to 24 ft. does not look like the top sheet is a full 4 ft wide.

Last episode: It's not a mansion, it's just a regular house with 5 bedrooms.
This episode: 6 rows of sheetrock running up the wall to a 40 foot ceiling!
Sheets are 4'x8' and ran on their side so 24 feet. But still HUGE!
Not to mention every bedroom has a full ensuite bathroom

Yes I have been looking forward to what Mere had in store for the house once inside was done, I know you have so much more for the outside, I want to see those 'mundane shot' (no such thing) of you backfilling the the yard, setting up your driveway, garage and work bench, hooking in the electrical and testing all the plumbing, maneuver the bathtub into the house, etc. LOVE THIS SERIES & BUILD!!!

The holes are probably not cut above the island because normally you wait till the island is done so you can make sure they’re centered and you don’t have to patch it and do it again.
Loved watching all the videos and the entire process. Can’t wait to see the interior decorating! Wish you would have done the brick dome ceiling. We stayed in the same house in Cabo this past February with the brick dome ceilings and absolutely loved them, so I was really hoping you both would’ve done it. Regardless the home is beautiful and I can’t wait to see everything finished! ❤️

Of course we want to see the interior decorating! Literally nobody shows that on RUclips. They get to the sheet rock and stop there, so nobody sees the rest of the process!
I recommend you watch the Perkins builder brothers. They show every bit of the process of building a house in their series "building a house from start to finish" Including interior
@@agustincampanelli7706 I have been subscribed to them for months now. They only go as far as adding cabinetry. They don't do the interior decorating as that is up to the homeowner
