I love this fish and would love to get a male/female pair. I have been scared away by their high failure rate. She is awesome! I hope she thrives in your tank and I hope you provide a good amount of updates on how she is doing.
I love my leopard wrass I purchased mine around 8 months ago and I thought it was going to die cause it would not eat anything but live food. I kept buying live coco pods and brine shrimp for about 1 1/2 months. I was starting to regret buying it then. Then one day while I was feeding frozen food to the other fish, it went strait for it. Now it's a pig it eats what ever I put in my tank even flakes and pellets. I also skipped quarantining it for the fear of losing it. I just took a big gamble that payed off. I have read that wrasses can't handle copper meds. Great videos love your channel.
Nice leopard wrasse I just picked up a leopard wrasse today as well that I had in qt at my lfs for a couple weeks l really like the little guy really nice patterns and colours on him mine is eating he all ready picking and eating in my tank with in hours was happy to see that he was eating right away in my tank
+MileHighReefers thanks and congrats on your new addition and ya I know the manager at the lfs so we only qt them once I don't bring them home and qt them cause I feel there's no need to qt them twice I believe it stresses them out more cause then you have to move them to the main tank they will be kept in after we qt them that's a lot of moving around plus the trip to the lfs, I do have a 72 gallon tank just incase I have to remove one and treat them if needed
Very pretty! Never seen one with white like that. My vermiculite Leopard eats LRS, Omega one and Ocean Nutrition flake, NLS pellets and even Nori. Finding one who already eats is key. I didn't quarantine mine either. I have heard that worms can be a problem though.
I had one a year back great looking fish got it as a peacock wrasse think the right name is blue star wrasse my clarkii's clown bulled it after being fine for 2 years and a tank upgrade 😟 good luck with it hope you get to see it change to a male there stunning 👍🏻
what an amazing looking fish! Im no expert, but she seemed to have white spots on her tail fin. Are these ick, or are they nothing to worry about? I see this on the fish at my lfs frequently but i always thought it was a parasite so i stayed away.
I didn't see it on the fish when I was looking at it, But I see what your seeing in the video. Generally your right something like that can be a parasite. The fins are actually the easiest place to spot ich. Since I didn't see it on the fish during the initial examination i'm guessing it's part of the fishes patterning. I'm going to double check it when the lights come on to be sure. Great observation.
I have an ornate one I just bought, did yours go into hiding and if so how long? I saw mine burrow and havent seen it for a day. I know their time schedule can be all messed up based on where they come from, but just looking around, hope mine lives
I have never seen one of these before. Would a wrasse be a good decision for a Tang dominant tank? Are they aggressive? I have no experience with any Wrasse, but have seen a couple that looked really neat.
For the most part tangs and reef safe wrasses leave each other alone. I wouldn't recommend a leopard wrasse for a new hobbyist. There are so many beautiful easy to take care of wrasses available. In my 210 I keep an Xmas wrasse with 8 tangs.
Scott,I've got a deep sand bed with a heavy SPS reef. In the past with my fish only tank I had a leopard wrasse along with a dragon wrasse and loved how they would bury themselves. I'm hesitant to get a wrasse that would disturb the deep sand bed...what are your thoughts?
I really don't think its a big problem. My tank doesn't have a deep sand bed, but my Xmas wrasse burrows in every night without causing a problem with the sand bed.
Leopard wrasse are easy once they are eating just so long as they don't have worms. At the store I work at we get them shipped to us in sand and we have had a 100x better mortality rate. Starvation is really the only thing you have to worry about I have never seen one with external parasites. Most likely due to there thick slime coat.
Great looking fish. I wouldn't recommend freshwater dips though. If something like an "ich" cyst is in her gills, it won't come off from freshwater. Only free floating parasites will die from freshwater. Good luck!
one of my favorite types of wrasse next to the dragon wrasse. so beautiful
Thanks its doing really well so far.
By far my favorite fish my tank.
I love this fish and would love to get a male/female pair. I have been scared away by their high failure rate. She is awesome! I hope she thrives in your tank and I hope you provide a good amount of updates on how she is doing.
Thanks, I hope it survive too. I'll keep everyone informed as to how it goes.

Thanks Darren it's an awesome fish.
Congratulations on getting over 4,000 subscribers
Thanks Ed!
Very beautiful fish!
Its a dream fish for sure.

Thanks its doing really well. I'm glad to hear yours is doing well too. thanks for sharing.
Beautiful fish. I have not seen this one before. Best of luck.
Thanks, they're pretty common, but the success rate is pretty low.
They have such a cool pattern
It is exquisite. Hopeful she does well.
+MileHighReefers yeah good luck!
Scott I'd love to see a long video of your sump on good detail please.
I did a video a few months back where I show how the seystem is plumbed. It gives a pretty good Idea of how it all works.
Such a nice fish! What type of leopard wrasse is it?
She is a beauty!
Thanks!
Cool looking fish Scott.Glad it's doing OK. Let us know how it goes with the LRS.
Will do.

Thanks, I hope it goes well. There's never any guarantee with these fish.

I added mine last Thursday and haven't seen him. Hopefully he'll pop out of the sand
Pretty fish. I am getting a Leopard Wrasse within the next week.
man every tank i see this fish in it looks amazing. Do show us a vid of her eating.
Not yet we just got the fish. I'll try ad get some and post it. This video is of the fish about 5 min after it went ino the tank.

Yeah these guys can be very passive so aggressive fish don't mix well with them.
Gorgeous! How big was she when you first bought her?
nice looking fish
Thanks, This is the one Lindsey was telling you about yesterday.

Beautiful fish! awesome it's eating
Thanks it's still doing really well.

+Dan Showman Our store is in Sheridan Colorado on the edge of Englewood on Oxford and Sante Fe
+Dan Showman We will be getting in more Wednesday or Thursday just sold our last one yesterday. But yep Keys Island that's the one.
That is really cool! I need to come down and check out you store.
+MileHighReefers I am a huge fan of your channel. It would be awesome to meet you.
Thanks man! That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm not sure when I'd be able to make it down to Denver. Life is so busy.
Looks freaky but nice. Very much like a Reindeer Wrasse right?
I'm not real familiar with the reindeer wrasse. If it's the one i'm thinking of there not very reef safe. The leopard wrasse is completely reef safe.
She is a pretty fishie
Thanks, I think so too.
really cool fish. i like that one.
Thanks! they're really cool.
This fish is gorgeous really like it hope it does well 👍
How is your leopard wrasse doing?
Did it ever hide in sand at first??
All the time
Great looking fish. I wouldn't recommend freshwater dips though. If something like an "ich" cyst is in her gills, it won't come off from freshwater. Only free floating parasites will die from freshwater. Good luck!
We did the dip more for flukes. I agree a fresh water dip is pretty ineffective with ich.
Whats the sand in the JBJ?
It's a sugar fine aragonite sand. I don't remember witch brand I bought.
Love them
She's really cool.
Can I keep a leopard wrasse in a 55?
A 55 should be good. I would personally be willing try one in a 55.
I how yours doesn't go mia like mine did
I hope not where doing all we can do to set it up for success.
I have a mccoskers flasher wrasse
There beautiful fish.
yeah I might get one later on lol
