Endgame was such a great ending for an incredible run of movies. As someone who spent many hours of their childhood fantasy-casting superhero movies, the MCU gave me more comic book goodness than ten year old me even dared to imagine. I really hope they find their groove again, but I'm pretty happy with what I already got.
I actually laughed when Thanos attacked. The tragic dramatic moment interrupted by action music and non-descript creatures shooting lasers and waving swords. The final was much much better.

The original makes more sense because clint has to let go of Natasha and let her fall to he death, "sacrificing that which he loves." Where as in this scene, Natasha jumps off herself, so Clint isn't letting her die, so he shouldn't have received the soul stone
He didn't let her go. She kicked off the cliff wall and forced herself free of his grasp via weight and momentum. He begged her not to fall up until the end. He did not let her die.

I’m glad they cut this scene. This makes Natasha look stupid and reckless. Tactically speaking, she had no idea whether or not she’d make that run. And for her to jump off as Thanos is approaching Clint, for all she knew she was abandoning Clint to a death from Thanos right after she killed herself. She’d have no idea if her sacrifice would transport Clint away. The original had a beautiful mix of tension and care as they both fought to sacrifice each other to sacrifice themselves because they loved each other so much. Kept the focus on just them.

I must agree. The original was better. It may have not been cinematic or action packed. But that is the Beauty of the scene. It was supposed to be isolated and personal.

Avengers 1 when Hawkeye was under Loki control, civil war when they were on opposite sides, and then end game on vormir so I'ld say they are probably the two avengers we saw fight each other the most.
Agreed. In the first Avengers, a whole 3-minute sequence was cut showcasing Hawkeye and Widow fighting the Chitauri soldiers at the beginning of the battle. Some bits were included in the movie, but most of it was cut. It would’ve been helpful to introduce the viewers to Clint’s hand-to-hand prowess in the field. Then again, here we see another action sequence of these two cut. I get why it was cut, but it’s unfortunate these two keep getting scrapped.

They made the right decision, the version in the theatrical film, was the right cut for sure. And it holds up for the hawkeye series as well. The scene always needed between Clint and Nat. Her death was impactful and meaningful as you really feel her loss during the hawkeye series in an emotional and genuine way.

The action sequence is less emotional, and she does sacrifice herself, but the pivotal point of her sacrifice isn't pure selflessness like the original. It's mainly because she's already been fatally wounded, and the main villain is steps away from them.
Tense scene but Thanos don't even know where Soul Stone is, at that point of time. He found out in Infinity War when Gamora told him. So, it's impossible for him to be there.

Nice! I have the Blu ray but never really explored it's bonus features so this is my 1st time seeing this. I like Natasha's sacrifice much more here. But it's cool that they cut it.

They realized that Thanos or any other opposing force wasnt needed, hits harder watching the two of them literally fight each other in order to make the sacrifice, adding an enemy takes so much away from the love part of the situation

The Barton-Natasha relationship always felt the most real to me. Natasha and Bruce I didn’t buy. Tony and Pepper-ehh. But something about Clint and Nat just felt genuine with their friendship.
Original cut WAY better. I mean, it was basically an outplay by Natasha against Clint. That translated so well to Hawkeye when he’s confronted by Yelena. The whole point was that she was indeed “better” and that the whole reason he’s alive is that he got bested.
Definitely made the right choice in changing the scene to what we got. It's still nice to see them get some spotlight in combat but two non super powered people with guns, tasers, knives, a sword and a bow holding off a squad of laser shooting spacecrafts doesn't quite sit right and would have simultaniously lessened the percieved danger of Thanos and his troops while also overshadowing one of the most human and touching scenes in the mcu. The scene of Widow running through open space with her arms wide open really takes away from the drama in the scene.
I actually think this scene is really cool. I always felt Hawkeye and Black Widow were always outshined by the big 4 but I can also see why they cut it out. Still cool to see some epic action though.
I prefer this version as although there was depth in the other, this was has depth and the pressure to make a difficult decision. Also, showcases them a bit against Thanos.
clint being ok with his own death, when its about bringing his family back, was a bit understandable and stupid at the same time. in this scene he still tried to make the sacrifice, but the main focus was more on holding on to natasha and not punching her in her face like in the version we got.
The final cut was on different level of depth.
No urgency of sacrifice, no force, pure love.

I can see why they cut it, they didn't want to take the attention away from Nat and Clint in that scene. So they made it ALL about them.
Her death feels less impactful too in this scene cus it doesn’t have the same score as when thanos threw gamora off the cliff.

clint being ok with his own death, when its about bringing his family back, was a bit understandable and stupid at the same time. in this scene he still tried to make the sacrifice, but the main focus was more on holding on to natasha and not punching her in her face like in the version we got.
