    I saw Tool play in Everett, Washington in 2007.
    I saw the show with a friend that I was deeply in love with. They played both parts 1 & 2 during their set.
    4 years later, right after that friend and I confessed our feelings... at the age of 23, he died unexpectedly the next day.
    These 2 songs put me to sleep on repeat for 2 years. ❤️ Being cut so short, I can't imagine having gone through that experience without the bonding he & I had done through Tool's music.
    I'm so grateful to Maynard for that. I'm also just in awe at his dedication to his craft, and his dedication to learning and growing, and the way he uses his platform to inspire that quality in others.
    ❤️ I aspire to have that much of a positive influence on the world.

      @sharilynbratton6476 3 года назад

      @@nolangibson1378 I think that is definitely possible but in this case it didn't feel so much like an actual soul visitation as just a lovely memory gift. Maybe it comes down to the same thing. After my only son died in 2015 at age 31 I was more devastated than I have ever been in my life, and I felt so depressed over not ever feeling or sensing his presence to let me know he was okay. Then I had 3 separate experiences at different times starting several months after he died, and while the sceptic in me wanted to write it off as wishful thinking, my soul knew the truth of what I experienced. The first one, I was just sweeping the floor and absolutely nothing going on when suddenly it was like this feeling of lightness, of euphoria and laughter and almost a soul sensation of a fresh breeze all through me just cascaded over me, and it didn't come from me. I had been SO depressed, and I was in nothing like a giddy mood as I swept. But that sensation was overwhelming and hopeful and made me feel absolutely that it was Daniel's actual soul swooping straight through my body and mind almost playfully. As he had died after years of deep depression and alcohol abuse, the feeling of recognizing his unique imprint and remembering his happier days when he WAS mischievous and humorous made me feel he was showing me how okay he is now. The 2nd thing that happened another day was when I was carrying a load of laundry into the spare bedroom to fold it on the bed, and as I stood there suddenly this very real, strong scent of pipe tobacco filled the room. My son lived with me for over a year before he died because his heart was failing, and he used to love to go into that room with his fave copy of the works of Mark Twain and just sit on the bed in there reading and smoking his pipe. He loved this very sweetly fragrant tobacco and that is what I smelled that day. Third event was when my autistic daughter, whom my son always helped me with and was very protective of her, was having a meltdown for HOURS and I lost my cool finally and yelled at her very angrily; suddenly this painting on the wall a few feet away FLEW off the wall and landed at least 2-3 feet away on the floor. It was secure on the wall, nothing shook or vibrated the wall to make it fall, and if it had simply come loose it would have fallen straight down the wall, not flown outward to land feet away. Boy, that one had my pulse racing! It was like Daniel was frustrated and upset with our discord and was sending a stern 'Cut it out!' message.

I didn't want to listen to this song today, but I needed to. Had to put my dog down yesterday, and while I'm not going to equate her to the songs subject, the feelings are still the same. Years ago I read that after Maynard's mother fell ill, the people in her church congregation talked very badly about her, and assumed that if she were a good Christian, what happened to her should have neve happened. Perhaps this adds some more layers and perspective to what MJK was saying and how he said it. It makes Maynard's defense of his mother even more beautiful to me, knowing how critical he was/is of her faith.

    Great video Therry. To get the full picture in order, you need to listen to the song Judith, of A Perfect Circle (Maynard side project). This song was made in 2002 in the album Mer de Noms. Is the prelude to Wings For Marie (pt1 & 2) published in 2006. You will find the real feelings Maynard had in those days. Im sure you will compare in your own way both lyrics. Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence. In the hospital room with fluorescent light as the sun sets. The part that still gets me is when he says give ME MY wings. Almost as if god left her in the fire for 10000 days that he himself, MJK will be her angel and send her home; asking for his wings. Time to bring me home or you/me home. Mother home in her heaven and MJK home in his closure. I don’t know, I listen to this track a lot and still trying to understand deeper and deeper. Yeah, I could be totally wrong. I welcome some insights!

    You should do yourself the favor of exploring some of the other songs he's written that deal with his mother's plight, subsequent death and how it effected his life and the emotional rollercoaster he went through to get to this point. I'd suggest Tool, Intermission and Jimmy ( done together). And then Judith, from another of Maynards project A Perfect Circle. There are other songs that are of debate as to whether they pertain to this subject or not. I'll leave that for you to decide, or others to weigh in as you will soon find out every Tool fan has an OPINION.🤣 Subbed in hopes that you continue the journey.
