17:56 Assalamu alaikum Sheikh Yasir, Sheikh Uthman bin Farooq is not fond of Bishr al Hafi (ra). I saw once in a video on his channel regarding tasawwuf he criticised Bishr al Hafi (ra). It would be good to see a future discussion regarding tasawwuf and aqeedah and the rijal of tasawwuf and aqeedah between you and Sheikh Uthman. He has all of the tell-tale signs of Salafism but insha Allah it seems he might be open to discussion I hope.

Eating was more important to Mawiyah bin sufiyan Rather than obey Allah Messenger pbuh
      Sahih Muslim 6628
Ibn Abbas reported: I was playing with children that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) happened to pass by (us). I hid myself behind the door. He (the Prophet) came and patted my shoulders and said: Go and call Mu'awiya. I returned and said: He is busy in taking food. He again asked me to go and call Mu'awiya to him. I went (and came back) and said that he was busy in taking food, whereupon he said: May Allah not fill his belly! Ibn Muthanna, said: I asked Umm Umayya what he meant by the word Hatani. He said: It means he patted my shoulders.

Maashaa Allah . BaarakAllahu feekum Sheikh. You have really given us a fair, respectful and clear answer on this matter. I love Sheikh Uthman but I feel that honestly their is a disdain and rubbishing of any scholar from Deoband and only Saudi scholars are knowledgeable on Deen.
Also I found that Brothe Daniel was ambushed as if to find out if he's Muslim but Alhamdulillah he stood his ground.
I find it problematic that all Deobandis and Barelvis are lumped together when it is as clear as daylight these two maddrassas have been at loggerheads for decades and their Aaqidah differs dramatically.
Any Deoband Aalim will never worship or ask of the dead at graves as was alluded to so that is a misrepresentation and false.
Salafi scholars have their good points and sometimes Deoband scholars do make things in Tasawwuf which are not part of the Sunnah important but ultimately both groups have good in them and Tauheed as a focal point Alhamdulillah. I hope Inshaa Allah thus discussion can take take place to clear up misconceptions Inshaa Allah.

May Allah be harsh to those that slander and insult Sheikh al-Akhbar aka Muḥyī ad-Dīn aka the greatest teacher. He was a high ranking wali and Sheikh of walis. Who was that? Imam Ibn Arabi (RA). He was mastered all the sciences each consisting an ocean of knowledge. There was not a single scholar in his era that possessed more knowledge than him in any Islamic science yet we have deviants calling him kuffar and not understanding the sophisticated terminologies used by Sufis. Wahdatul Wujud is the language of Awliyahs.
I'll quote the Mujahid and Mujaddid of the 9th century called Imam Hafid Al Suyuti (RA) said: "For my part, the last word concerning ibn ‘Arabi, and this is accepted neither by his contemporary admirers nor by his detractors, is that he be considered a Wali but reading his books is forbidden. He himself is related as saying, ‘We are a people whose books are forbidden to read.’ This is because the Sufiyyah, by convention, use a technical terminology known only to them and by which they refer to meanings in a way different from common usage."
The teacher of Imam Hafid Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani (RA) called Al-Imam Siraj ad-Din al-Bulqini said: "We seek refuge in Allah from saying that ibn ‘Arabi affirms Hulul (indwelling) and Ittihad (unity)! He is far above that. Rather, he is one of the greatest A’immah and among those who have probed the oceans of the sciences of Qur’an and Hadith."
Imam Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami (RA) says regarding him:
"There is unanimity that Ibn Arabi was the most knowledgeable Scholar of his era, as he mastered every science of Islāmic knowledge….And there is unanimity that he was the most pious in his era, most staunch on the Sunna and the greatest in self-sacrifice”.
As a Shafi'i brother I stand behind you against ahlul bidah who lie on the creed of the Salaf and slander the great classical scholars.

I am absolutely shocked! I follow salafi scholars generally (although I don’t necessarily call myself salafi but ascribe to salafiyya methodology). I have seen lots of refutations and clarifications from salafis. I might have never seen your videos ever. But this video came in my recommendations so I had some time and decided let’s see what this man has to say. Ya Sheikh I’m so moved by this. This is how a refutation should be. Wallahi your Adab and Character is so so so … I don’t have words to say. Salafis sometimes are bit harsh (not all of them obviously) in refutations etc.
I just hope even if salafis don’t learn anything else from this video they can learn from you how to make a refutation video. I mean if we claim to be followers of Mohammed SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam, our dealings with others whom we disagree in somethings should still be flawless. Obviously you can never reach the character of him SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam but I think I can say you try to be true follower of him. Saying we follow Quran and Sunnah is easy, anyone can talk the talk but to walk the walk is the true test.
May Allah grant you the highest rank in Jannah for your Adab for nothing can be more heavier in the scales than good character. May Allah grant you ikhlas. May Allah turn all your evil deeds into mountains of good deeds. May Allah unite the Muslims. Ameen

The criteria for spouse selection in Islam is "religion(deen) and character(akhlaaq)" as per a hadith.
Why did the Hadith(saying of the Prophet) say deen, but not imaan?
If a person has deen,he is going to have character, right? Are they two things?
If a person has deen,it means "he pays attention to his basic religious obligations seriously, observes the limits in morals(by imitation or because of parents) and can be externally identified as a person of religion". Not just in legal sense.
What's in his heart and the level of sincerity or the level of his devotion in his worship are not to be judged. These things come under the definition of "high imaan". Or it means brightness of the heart.
      Character
A person can be said to have deen(religion) because he claims so. But people are'nt interested to deal with him socially because his manners(akhlaaq) are ugly. Like the one who uploads videos to prove that "Mr.X the liar from Birmingham" is wrong and he is right. And 2000 angry hot heads from uk Asian community are given opportunity to write debased comments.
Can anyone marry his daughter? Maybe these 2000 hot heads must be asked to contemplate.
Definition of character is what David Brooks wrote. A person of character means a person who has emotional control. He can check his disposition and knows how to reform it. He judges issues very critically and does not make useless statements.
Another incident can clarify the issue. The companions of the prophet went to meet the most special wife of the prophet and asked her "What was the khulq(character) of the prophet at home". They weren't asking whether he(Our prophet) practised religion at home or if he had another moral standard inside the home. Question was about his expression style.
      Verification of facts
A person appears in a video. He is sitting in car and hurriedly says 'Assallam alaikumu brothers, this is quick video about Mr.X the liar from Birmingham who gave this opinion.."
Then he talks about a topic which is not relevant to be mentioned here because he has the failed in many Islamic standards
The video starts with a picture of the person he disagrees with
      1. Whats the need to mention "Birmingham"? Perhaps he has another enemy in Birmingham and his hatred was exposed. Or he hates entire Birmingham.
(Indication : A person of no emotional control and therefore cant be listened to)
      2. There is a catchy headline to get attention.
(Indication : A lot of emphasis to express grudge. His family affairs are likely to be ruined)
      3. The video has no proof that the speaker has checked and authorized it to be uploaded
Indication : He cant manage his life's affairs efficiently and therefore cant be trusted for opinions.
The video has a comment section where anyone can write anything and there's no moderation
Indication : His house, property and dignity wont be safe. Can be easily scammed.
If a person listens a person of no standard with engaging interest,he can acquire the same dirty manners and say about others "Oh this short Hindi speaking guy from London"
The science of "keeping the mind at rest about advanced religious issues and strictly adhere to basic Islam"
Currently, there are 3 hour long videos of a famous Muslim speaker trying to refute atheism by debating with an atheist.
Rather than wasting 3 hours on internet, there is an easy way to not to get a psychiatric disorder called "religious mania" and make life easy.
If someone wants to question the existence of Allah,a simple answer is enough.
"Allah exists for sure. He is uncreated. His essence cant be described. But humans can witness Allah's signs in the creation. But Allah is not part of the created things. We have this understanding because of prophets and their message. Now,its up to people to decide whether they want to know Allah(to have awe) or they keep talking about him in a vague theoretical way. If someone feels,he does not need Allah, then its his problem. He may have a disposition dysfunction, health issue or he maybe blinded by a grudge just like a person who hates entire Birmingham because of someone residing there. People with such issues need to rest their minds and associate with decent people with sound social aptitude. This will give heart certain inclinations(called asraar in Arabic). That will lead him to where he needs to go. Reading a lot of books or debates cant lead to anything. Trying to know Allah without social emotions is not how the Prophet delivered the message of Islam"
Finished. No need for 3 hours of brain damage.

I found Salafis very dishonest when it comes to Deoband, sufis, tassawuf. You will always find them quoting Imam Ibn Taimiyyah , Ibnl Qayyum rahimahullah but when it comes to sufis they completely ignore all the works these two great men have done for Tasawwuf and they have praised sufis and also wanted to have their final resting place with sufis. The salafies always claim they only follow salaf ( the first three generations) but they completely ingnore the ijtihad, fatwas of sahabi like Ibn Masud (ra,) and his students then Imam Abu Hanifa who was also a salaf! It's sad but the truth is salafies only take whatever they seem fit for their agenda from the first three generations and completely ignore all the opinions that goes against them as I mentioned about sufism , Imam ibn Qayyim and Imam Taimiyyah.

Together with this form of reaction I think it will really be a good thing to arrange a direct discussion with the likes of Sheikh Uthmaan so that all their misconceptions are cleared up. We have enough external enemies and there has never been such a dire need for unity as there is today where we, the Muslim Ummah, are facing a barrage of attacks on so many fronts and platforms. Truth of the matter is the 4 imams, even with their venerated amounts of knowledge were human like me and you and not anbiya’. So ofc their knowledge was limited which made some exposed to some aspects of the Sunnah while others another, but Salafiyyah takes a holistic approach.
Follow your own respected mathaahib in ambiguous matters not addressed or not addressed clearly in the Quran and sunnah and by the salaf as salih, and fills the Quran and Sunnah on clear matters, even if it conflicts with the opinions of your respected school of thoughts, this is the essence of being ‘Salafi’ and arguably the essence of being a true Muslim who strives in the way of Allah.

Many people criticise deobandos and say they aren't Sunnis etc. However, when I ask my Dad about Islam his views are always in line with Imam Abu Hanifa and the classical texts? So this made me confused. Thanks for making it clear deobando just represents the geographical state and isn't a sect as that is what it seems like

First you have to understand Al-Azhar, Al-Medina, Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband are amongst the respected top Islamic seminaries in the world. They are not sects.
If the noisy neighbors claim otherwise ask them in the Indo-Pak region which of there sects produced scholars who’s matched them in linguistics and Islamic sciences.
The Pseudo-Salafi are too busy with politics; what is the Arsh? Where is the Arsh? What’s the google coordinates? Even there seniors tried to explain these things who have varied opinions.
They do not realise they are creating unnecessary fitnah in itself we should remain silent concerning these details and meanings which is the safest position.

Why so manu ambiguous statements and words in sufism and which leading people to innovations ??? Ofc these ambiguity clearly corrupt aqeedah… shaykh please consider this

Sub7aanAllaah, perfect admonition/reaction following the perfectly respectful ettiquettes. However, given how Shaykh Uthman, Karim and the other Shaykh that ambushed and tried to bully Daniel, I would be somewhat reluctant to assume the "sincerity" and "genuinity" of Shaykh Uthman. Nevertheless, I would love to see a discussion between you and Shaykh Uthman. He is fantastic on the comparative religions platform but he is a major source of misguidance for the Muslims when he starts talking on Fiqh and 3aqeedah.

Why use the term "Wahdat-ul-Wujood (oneness of existence) to begin with in relation to Allah?! Saying that you mean it is being used in the context of tasawwuf doesn't negative the ugliness of this term. Essentially, monism. Tell me, what did you mean by wahdatul wujood in tasawwuf?! Such sophistry is merely beating around the bush.

First of all if you want to correct a brother's fault you don't do it publicly but meet with the individual and tell him. I think Uthman did mention Allah is not in everything and I could be wrong. Not because Uthman was in a public forum you have to correct him publicly. Just a note...If any Muslim claim he belongs to any sect he will be in the Hellfire. And that includes the Salifis.

Masha Allah. Great video. Lots of misconceptions are clarified. I'm a Madeena graduate and I am coming from a Salafi background. I dunno about other professors, but those who taught us Aqeeda never mentioned anything about Deobandis being an unorthodox aqeeda sect. In fact Deobandis were not even mentioned at all. I believe the problem is people are projecting certain individual behaviors on the whole group which is wrong. We have to go the basic texts of that group to claim such. And Sheikh Uthman seems not have done that and I feel he has to apologize for that if he wants to come clean.

    • @virtualwanderer

Deobandis are not an aqeedah sect, nor are they a madhab. They are an institution of education, so one cannot refer to them as an Aqeedah as it's incoherent. One should study the history of Deobandis so one can gain better understanding Inshallah.
