    Just wanted to thank you for posting this video. As a DIY person this enabled me to install my own pocket door latch. I took my time and did it right the first time!

    I need to do exactly the same thing and I've been putting it off for months thinking I need/should have special equipment, but you made it clear - pretty basic tools will get the job done. Thanks!

    Thank you so much! I give you a ton of credit doing this on a finished door! I've been practicing on 2x4's and messed them all up! Thanks again for this great tip!

      agreed on the video--very helpful conceptually and practically, thank you!!! And thank you for the sharing that you practiced on 2x4's, Keith. To both of you--my mirrored pocket door thanks you as well...she stands a much better chance of surviving my door pull installation attempts now 😆😜😄

    Great video, but pro tip for ya.... even if your hole saw is deep enough to drill all the way through the door, you should still drill it from both sides to avoid a blow out!!

  • @BobbySoria-e8t

    Way easier to screw your edge pull on backwards, cut around it with your knife so it doesn’t move, draw a line under the top screw and above the bottom screw then use a 5/8 paddle bit to drill out the middle piece, then chisel it all out, go back and chisel the tabs where the screws go so it sits flush. I install these everyday, along with cabinet hardware, all door hardware and bath accessories. I use my multi tool to get a cleaner cut when cutting out the middle piece but that can be quite difficult if you don’t do it everyday

    The handle you used in this video, was it 0.75? I’m going to buy a 2 1/8” whole saw blade, as you did, but need to buy the exact same circular door handle. For context, the door I’m installing is 1.375 thick. The entire door is a standard 32x80. Thx for the wonderful video!

    • @HappyWifeAcres
      @HappyWifeAcres  2 года назад +1

      The handle width of the pull is quite small, about 5/16". I'm not sure how big of a drill I used but I remember having to tweak it until the pull would recess properly.

    • @gatorr4life
      @gatorr4life 2 года назад +1

      @@HappyWifeAcres thank you, I found a circular handle measuring 5/16”. I’m new to power tools and DIY jobs so this is a big help! Very much appreciated!

      One more question. I hope you can answer this. I literally used the same drill as you, (black n decker) but got different results. I think the inside of my door is a different material than yours. It took forever to dig through. Even worse, it got stuck and literally the hole saw part was clogged with the “wood” material in it. I had to forcefully dig out the drill bit of the stuck “wood”. I hope that makes sense.
      The inside of the door looks like shredded wood strips. Again, I’m new to all this stuff so bare with me. I don’t know if it’s the hole saw part, the drill itself not having enough juice or the material for the door is too rough for my drill. I think it’s the type of door I selected. TIA

    • @HappyWifeAcres
      @HappyWifeAcres  2 года назад +1

      @@gatorr4life it sounds like soft wood and maybe dull drill bits. Could that be it?

    • @gatorr4life
      @gatorr4life 2 года назад

      @@HappyWifeAcres thx for answering! The drill bits are from harbor freight. I didn’t think that would be a problem considering it’s the first time I’ve used them. They are fresh out of the package. Are harbor freight bits not good enough? Looking at your video again, that wood looks like it’s the exact same as what I boar into. Maybe the drill has lost its battery power consumption, I don’t know what else. I did exactly as you did. I have two more doors in my house to replace so I gotta figure it out. 😄
      I’m going to just buy a new cordless drill. It’s long overdue anyway.

    Just curious as this is a bathroom door, where is the lock?

    • @HappyWifeAcres
      @HappyWifeAcres  Год назад

      There is no lock on it. It is unnecessary. If it is pulled shut someone is inside.
