Triology just hits on a deeper level for myself. A couple years ago I admitted myself into a mental hospital for a few days because I ended up trying to hang myself in the shower. I couldn’t handle all the negative thoughts in my head and the way I was starting to look at life. Musically, the instrumentals are very aggressive and feels like a great direction for Silent planet, but it’s the landscape of the entire song and the way it goes from chaotic to ethereal back to insanity really pulls you in and lets you know you aren’t the only one stuck in this frame of mind from time to time. It’s an honest beast and I’m proud of Garrett for sharing the whole explanation of this particular song.
Trilogy in your ears must be a breath of fresh air for you. That’s freaking epiiiicccc. I too hope you’ve got happiness and people to keep close to you that understands you and to talk to! ❤️
Man, it’s tough. I never heard Trilogy until this video, but I heard Erase Me beforehand, so I came into this bias, but then Trilogy BLEW ME AWAY. Made me almost forget how amazing Erase Me is, but then Erase Me came on again, and it made me realize it was the winner still, even though Trilogy was INSANE. Erase Me narrowly got that W
Silent Planet - Trilogy is my vote. Garrett’s lyricism is absolutely phenomenal. His implementation of footnotes in his lyrics proves how much he truly cares about the message of the song since he does so much research.
He actually didn't do this for Trilogy, but for every other song he does! Correct me if I'm wrong, but Trilogy was written in one shot, when Garrett admitted himself into a mental hospital during tour. So everything was Garrett for Trilogy. Regardless the implementation of footnotes is amazing and I love Garrett!
1,000,000% Silent Planet “Trilogy”!!! The meaning behind the song, what Garrett went through writing it, the power behind the lyrics, the breakdowns and lead ups , can’t get enough!! Definitely sends chills down my spine 😅😅
My vote goes to Trilogy, though Erase Me was phenomenal too. I just love both the aggressive/atmospheric sound of Trilogy and the lyrics, especially the cry for hope and unity in a divided world at the end. Knowing the story behind the lyrics and that Garrett wrote them in one sitting with everything he had going on makes the song even more powerful. Erase Me was way more emotional than I was expecting though. Loved both songs.
This is a great idea!! Just a potential fix for an issue that I see with the setup for this contest, instead of you going through every comment maybe post the name of each band in the comments as a like button. Love what you’re doing Jake and Guardians is fucking phenomenal. 🤟✌️
I'm going with Make Them Suffer here. I will say that the Silent Planet song is more creative and breaking the "rules" of song structure but "Erase Me" just brings out more emotions in me. Heavy throughout the song and then ending with that epic anthem-like ending. Damn!
Make Them Suffer- Erase Me wins in my heart. That song has everything an amazing song needs. Emotion,Impact, and Musicality. Solid ass song 100%. Silent Planet had an awesome song too!! but between the two. Erase Me wins in my opinion🤘🏼
Silent Planets Lyrics are definitely more emotionally impactful, but as far as just the sound itself i believe erase me had a greater emotional impact. Atleast to me.
Silent Planet - Trilogy has my vote. I didn't really know who they were when I saw them live during the 10 Years of Constellations tour. I had forgotten to look them up and then saw people talking about Trilogy. Gave that a listen and oh man, they killed it. I didn't remember them being this heavy either during the concert but hell yeah man, this song has gotten me to dive further into their music. Still up for taking recommendations.
Although I think "Drown With Me" was a better single, "Erase Me" had such a depth and emotions contained within it that set it apart from the former Make Them Suffer's single, and gave it something special. The contrast of the female vocals, the lead singer and the melodic atmosphere are all key components of MTS. Silent Planet's trilogy showed another side of the band and the heaviness they can display and the creativity they can express within their own work. Trilogy is a step-up of the band and is amazing as always. I am gonna vote for MTS because I am biased and love that band but that doesnt mean I dislike silent planet at all :)
Silent planet - Trilogy. When you realize he's screaming about his own experience with mental illness the song gives you chills on a whole nother level my dog
Trilogy all the way. Such a unique sound, intricate lyrics that are amazingly sung and screamed, and killer riffs. Drums are insane as well. Silent Planet served us up a spicy meatball with the savoriest of sauces.
Erase me has to get my vote. That song has had me hooked since it first dropped. Its been a daily listen since then. (I gotta say Silent Planet killed it with Trilogy tho. Both songs are fuckin sick)
I agree with you, although I am probably biased since MTS is my fav band and Triology was the first song I heard from Silent Planet. Still absolutely loved Triology
Erase Me has my vote. Silent planet.... His scream is so powerful and with meaning. Amazing band in concert! Awesome song too! That was the first time I have ever heard Make Them Suffer. Thank you for introducing me. Keep rocking Jake and ABR!
Just want to drop another comment. I really appreciate you guys (ABR) putting your fans first and releasing Guardians according to schedule, and not pushing back like so many are doing nowadays. Even though I’ve been streaming it on Apple Music since it’s been out, I purchased the album on top of all that (first album bought in 5 years). I know it’s probably not much in the grand scheme of things, but love y’all and keep up the awesome work. And keep coming back to Texas. We love our metal here.
Jeeeeez Jake, why you gotta make me pick between the two. Really tough, but I'll give the edge barely to MTS. Keep up the awesome content Jake and congrats on releasing a banger of an album!
Make Them Suffer’s Erase Me all the way. The vocals are both incredible. The drive of the drums with the awesome guitar riffs. It’s just fantastic. Lyrically, they really made it emotional. Absolutely will put this on repeat
Jake, thank you for the years of encouragement through your words and emotion played with ABR. Tough times were easier with the message you have.Make them suffer got me emotional at the end.. Silent planet wins the vote though..
I have to be honest, I'm extremely biased but have to go with Silent Planet. I saw them live in Spokane on the Trilogy tour and it was only the second time that they had played Trilogy live. Part of my bias comes from the fact that I was able to talk with Garret before the show about Theology and Apologetics. I'm currently four classes away from my bachelor's in Apologetics and loved the fact that I could sit down and have such an enlightening and intellectual conversation with Garret.

I saw both these bands on tour with ABR in 2016, plus Erra. That was one of the best shows I've ever been to. I was already a huge MTS fan, but that show introduced me to Silent Planet, and I've been obsessed ever since. I love them both, but I have to go with Trilogy.
Firstly thank you Jake for having this RUclips channel and demonstrating without a doubt that you are not only a part of the community but an advocate. Although I fully support both of these bands I would say Make Them Suffer wins this battle by eliciting emotion this genre gives 110% of the time. I think the clean vocals made this battle a tough feat, but Make Them Suffer just dragged the emotion out of me.
I love both bands, but I’m a Make Them Suffer lifer. I just recently discovered Silent Planet and mannnn...both phenomenal bands with incredible musicians and lyricists/vocalists in both groups!!!
I have to show you a lot of gratitude here for introducing me to these bands! August Burns Red delivers again! Silent Planet's breakdown literally made me flinch, especially between the screams and then the awesome clean vocals. Also love when you said he "delivered the sentence". Make Them Suffer... those drums sure did. And then the angelic clean vocals, oh my goodness. I'm gonna go with Make Them Suffer, because while both songs were amazing, I actually reflected on myself while listening to 'Erase Me' while I jammed out to the other. I'm sure you understand this as a fellow Christian, Jake, but the lines in the latter song "I'm not worth saving" made me reflect on our depravity and made me grateful for Christ's love and grace.
Those were both SO good! Both songs have so many things that I like about them, but I think Silent Planet just barely won this one in my book. Not to mention that breakdown/drop was DIS..GUST..ING, plus the build up to the drop made it even that much better.
One of my favorite shows ever was ABR, Erra, Silent Planet, Make Them Suffer! So this is really hard for me! I think I’m gonna with Make Them Suffer for the win! Definitely has more replay value than Trilogy for me! Both great songs!
Man what a tough choice... both so awesome. I gotta give it to Make Them Suffer, that ending gives me goose bumps every time, and the bleigh in the middle is awesome. The Silent Planet song is incredible as well. Stoked for both bands' futures, but Make them suffer takes this one for me!
This is the hardest decision I’ve had to make in along time. But I’m going with Silent Planet. Garret has been through so much in the last year and I admire him coming back this strong. The song itself is a masterpiece full of emotion and the instrumentals are on point.
Silent planet!! They have grown a lot. I saw them live when you toured with them in Spokane, and their vocalist seemed so passionate in his performance.
Wow this was tough! I nominated Erase Me after seeing the video for the first time earlier this week. I hadn't seen Trilogy before and it honestly blew me away. I'm definitely going to be listening to more of Silent Planet after that. But I have to stick with my nomination and pick Erase Me. The song goes so hard from start to finish, the clean vocals of the chorus are incredible and super catchy. I also love the video itself, from the effects to the lighting. You can feel the emotion of the entire band as a whole. Love what you did here Jake! Great way to discover new music!!
Silent planet “Trilogy” definitely wins this one. Not just in terms of music, but also marketing. This was a single launched to coincide with their most recent tour and the marketing was so original! ❤️❤️ love you Jake!
Silent planet takes the cake on this one bro! Super heavy, Garrett’s vocals mixed with Thomas’ vocals just mend together perfectly. The lyrics written by Garrett are phenomenal as always. Appreciate the videos bro!!
Trilogy was amazing. It was my first time hearing it and I immediately added it to my playlist. With that being said, I have to give the W to Make Them Suffer. There’s perhaps a little bias here... and I’m okay with that. Their album worlds apart dropped around the same time I was going through a divorce and it absolutely helped me get through that rough patch. Especially the song Save Yourself. I’ve been eagerly waiting for new material from them. We got 27 awhile back followed by Hallowed Hearts and then Erase Me. The previous two songs are still amazing, but erase me is on an entirely different level. Every reaction video I watch we all get the same feeling... chills. I think that says it all. When music can make an entire audience get goosebumps from their creation they’ve done their job, and they’ve done it beautifully. Can’t wait for their album drop this June! Much love, Jake! I’ve seen you guys live 7 times now and have lyrics from composure tattooed on my chest. Guardians, as I expected, is amazing! Can’t wait to see you guys roll through the Philly area when everything gets back to normal. (I had tickets to the show you guys had with Killswitch too!)
Both songs are amazing but Erase me gets my vote. I've had this song on repeat every day since release 🤘 love the reaction videos, Jake - keep it up! 🤘
Erase me by Make Them Suffer. This song ending just hits in such an emotional way. The ending gives me goosebumps, the whole song gives me goosebumps. They are just heavy hitters. As much as I love Silent Planet. Make Them Suffer takes the cake for me for this one
Love both bands, but didn't expect that from Make them suffer. Song has all the vibes, so they get my vote. But love the videos Jake, too cool. Guardians is my album of the year so far.
@@TenaciousJoe24 lol I really wasn't a big fan of Prisoner. Three Wishes isn't really my thing but it just came out so figured he could give it a shot. I really want one for Strawberry's Wake, especially. That video is so great.
I really love this type of reactions and battles between bands, I think it's a great form to see different forms to create music from other bands. In this battle is too difficult who will be the winner, because you said it in the reaction video, Silent Planet have that agressive breakdown and it sounds so fucking cool. On the other hand, Make them Suffer has the great voice of Brooka Nile and it sounds so clean and perfect. But if I had to choose one, I really choose "Trilogy" from Silent Planet. I think it's something different of what they've done before and it's so agressive. It's a great song to headbanging.

Hey Jake! Glad to see you making videos in these trying times. As for the contest (not sure if it's still live) I'm going to cast my vote for Trilogy! One of my favorite bits lyrically is "Be still and human , Breathe in and be consumed..." Garrett has come back to this concept of being consumed many times. I actually was fortunate enough to have received a signed set-list that Garrett wrote a note for me on, where he writes "In a world that measures happiness by consumption, may you be utterly consumed by God's love." I have loved seeing him explore this concept of consumption throughout their songs and seeing it here again, the weaving through their work over time offers a depth of growth that others can join. Instrumentally, the song is set apart with its flow. The intro, while abrupt like Make Them Suffer's, was more cleanly pulled off, with those phenomenal off-beat snare hits and bass patterns from Alex on drums, which jumps to the cutting guitar distortion and back and forth between the two in a wonderful push and pull. Thomas's clean vocals definitely mesh cleanly with the spacey effect they have going on too. The transitions are cleaner in my opinion! Thanks for the content Jake, I was so fortunate to see one of your last shows before COVID rocked our world in Grand Rapids, MI. You guys put on a freaking show, didn't think you could get better! Each song feels like a story in your live music now, I'd never seen you guys play Invisible Enemy quite like you had that night. Defender was as much of a banger as I'd hoped too! Super hyped to eventually see Ties That Bind soon enough in concert. If you could check out Novelist's latest album or Impending Doom's The Sin and Doom Vol. II I'd be stoked! God Bless!
Silent Planet wins my vote here. Make Them Suffer are phenomenal in every way, with more somber emotions and tone, but the thing that made me go with Silent Planet is the vocal talent. Sean from MTS is a phenomenal vocalist but seems to be very monotone to me. Garrett is out here shifting styles the whole song, giving us all different flavors of them. Also context plays a huge factor for me here, as Silent Planet wanted this song to cap off their Trilogy of albums, with a song about learning to be human again. Knowing that this is the end of a phase of this band and not a lead in to a new record just makes this feel more special
Make them Suffer: “Erase me” I haven’t heard of them before but that song rocked my world. The double foot pedal drums, the piano and vocals, with a semi punk rock feel. Very nostalgic vibe for me and what helped me cross over from punk to metal back in the day
First of all the idea of this series is so great! For me personally it is so hard to decide which band wins this battle because both songs are constantly on repeat in my playlist... technically I don´t think I could choose one, they both did their jobs flawless and perfect. So I´m gonne decide emotionally and for me Make them Suffer wins here... that song just touches me a little bit more and brings me close to tears every time because it describes the feelings and thoughts I had a while back perfectly. Continue doing what you do Jake, you are an amazing humble human being, I enjoyed talking to you after one of your concerts for a few seconds! Love and greetings from Germany!
These two bands are breaking barriers in metal. Both MTS and SP show so much emotion and so much diverse structure in the songs which are not always so formulaic or rather overused riffs and patterns which we see in metalcore. I really like both of the songs, MTS is definitely showing an immense amount of work in this track, the piano, vocals, guitar work, drums and bass. It's so good, very well pieced together and I can't wait to see the future product. I'm going to give my vote Silent Planet, I've heard this track more than once and it always pulls me in because they blended everything together and weaved it so well together for all to stand out. Lyrically, musically and emotionally driven that feels so incredibly real.
I've seen Silent Planet twice, one of those times they were supporting Make Them Suffer. I gotta say, nothing beats seeing SP live. Don't get me wrong, the energy MTS has is insane and the pit was fucking crazy but everytime I saw SP the emotion was almost overwhelming. As for the two songs, obviously I'm gonna have to go with Trilogy lol
Oh man why you gotta do this to me Jake? I keep hearing the Erase me ending in my head cause you played it last (memory bias) but I'll go with Silent Planet - Trilogy. Has Erra elements and great lyrics. This is great advertising for these bands. Love what you're doing for them man. Keep the videos coming!
Can there be two winners? Its two different spectrums! They are both amazing in their own way. I love how silent planet is going heavier and I love how make them suffer is going with the more melodic, angelic route. Amazing. Just amazing.
Such a masterpiece. It builds up with surprises, beauty, and faithfulness in craft through their creativity. Technically speaking, Trilogy wins the day.
MTS for me, it's a really unique song that aswell shows variety and a new direction they can choose musically. Song was just beautiful But ofc the Silent Planet song was also a good all-rounder, but it didn't gave me chills haha
For me it was make them suffer, Trilogy was amazing but erase me gives me more of an emotional response and I’m a huge sucker for that when it comes to music, along with the angelic piano melody really goes well with the singers voice, both phenomenal bands. Great video Jake!
Silent Planet: *brutal breakdown*
Jake: "They're all sweethearts"
Zachary Ziobro they are, every one of them!
I started laughing when he said that lol.

Silent planet for me, Garrett's spoken poetry is just too hard to beat!
Yeah, love that Silent Planet song.... what an amazing aggression followed up by that ethereal chorus. It's ridiculously cool.
You should've done their newer song by make them suffer. Sean did some nasty lows at the end
I'm gonna go with Make Them Suffer, they really hit the feels
Trilogy hands down! Saw them play alongside ABR and they fricken killed it. Stay safe Jake and thanks for the content.
Erase me, this song just hits different, they hit it out of the park
Silent Planet for me! Very powerful song, both musically and lyrically
Please react to Strawberry's Wake, Lyrics Lie or Three Wishes by Dance Gavin Dance please!!!
Jason LovesABR I’ve been on some DGD lately too. They’re definitely one of those bands like ABR that never put out a bad song.
Or all of the singles lol
@@TenaciousJoe24 lol I really wasn't a big fan of Prisoner. Three Wishes isn't really my thing but it just came out so figured he could give it a shot. I really want one for Strawberry's Wake, especially. That video is so great.
I love DGD, yall sleeping on OAA tho
Silent Planet - Trilogy. Maybe the best song they’ve ever made? It’s so aggressive and chaotic and the chorus is HUGE.
Make them Suffer has my vote. Extremely groovy with the piano and vocals.
Silent Planet for sure on this one!

I've loved MTS Erase me from the first time I listened to it. I keep listening to it and it's every listen gives me goosebumps.
This one goes to Silent Planet - Trilogie the BReakdown is just too sick :O
Hey Jake! Glad to see you making videos in these trying times. As for the contest (not sure if it's still live) I'm going to cast my vote for Trilogy! One of my favorite bits lyrically is "Be still and human
, Breathe in and be consumed..." Garrett has come back to this concept of being consumed many times.
Bro you are so fuckin cool. I cant wait to see abr LIVE!!! Abr is easily life at this point . Thank you jake for making such emmotional music
Make them Suffer: “Erase me”
I haven’t heard of them before but that song rocked my world.
Make them suffer “ Erase Me” wins this battle!
erase me for the chills, each time I listen to that ending I put it on repeat immediately
LET'S GOOOO!
I'd vote for Erase Me. Nothing against Silent Planet but I just can't seem to get into them even though on paper they check all the boxes!
Sounds like a dumb question now, but what's those boxes for you?
Silent planet! I love there writing, and from a instrumental side it's crazy good and solid. And that breakdown at the end is so nice!
MTS Erase Me definitely but that breakdown in Trilogy was nasty.
Can there be two winners? Its two different spectrums! They are both amazing in their own way. I love how silent planet is going heavier and I love how make them suffer is going with the more melodic, angelic route. Amazing. Just amazing.
Can feel MTS belting out that raw emotion in “Erase Me”, all the way from Perth, Australia. That’s the winner for me.
Both are solid jams. I got silent planet! Such a dynamic tune. Let’s see that merch 🙌🙌 love the reactions. ABR for life
Make them suffer felt more immersive with the woman singing
Such a masterpiece. It builds up with surprises, beauty, and faithfulness in craft through their creativity. Technically speaking, Trilogy wins the day.
MTS for me, it's a really unique song that aswell shows variety and a new direction they can choose musically.
Song was just beautiful
But ofc the Silent Planet song was also a good all-rounder, but it didn't gave me chills haha
For me it was make them suffer, Trilogy was amazing but erase me gives me more of an emotional response and I’m a huge sucker for that when it comes to music, along with the angelic piano melody really goes well with the singers voice, both phenomenal bands. Great video Jake!
