Waking Kraid (Remix of Kraid's Theme from Metroid) - Zack Bogucki

Finally tried playing through the original Metroid again a few months ago... it's still ridiculously difficult, but I at least managed to make it to lower Brinstar. If Kraid's Theme isn't deserving of an over-the-top epic remix, I don't know what is!
Enjoy!

I've never played Metroid, so I've never heard it before, but this is just amazing. Definitely something I can listen to.
WOOO! 10,000 views without a single thumbs-down! Thanks so much everyone for your support in reaching this huge landmark for this channel. You guys are awesome.
Oh and I’m five years behind the rest of the community nice lol
Nice to see someone giving respectful feedback to someone's work, but it's not necessarily a good thing to remain completely faithful to the tune you're remixing. I can hear the discrepancies you're talking about, but I love it. It sounds fresh and new and different because of it, which is the point of a remix - to give a new approach to a familiar tune. Popular VGM remixes are a dime a dozen, so it's important to bring something new to the table, which I think was accomplished here.
I love this, Kraid is my favorite track from the series and this is just an excellent re-imagining.
Awesome! I came from vsauce2, and I'm really glad you got featured, because I love your music!
Absolutely my favorite metroid remix out there. I've listened to it regularly for a few months now.
Holy carp. This is the best remix EVER. My life is now complete. Thank you.
This needs at least 496,265 more views
Happy 10th anniversary on the song Zack 😀
Wow, that's crazy to think about. Time sure flies, doesn't it!
@@ZackBogucki That it does my friend, that it does.
This is a remix, not a cover. I changed bits of the original to give me more flexibility in creating something new while still very clearly retaining aspects of the original, which I think I achieved. If I wanted to avoid possible copyright issues, I wouldn't label it as Metroid music.
this music haunts my mind
This is the best song I have ever heard. I love it when I get those chills that run down your spine because something is so freakin awesome and this song made me get those chills.
This is my 20th time listening to this........TODAY!
I think this is always gonna be my favorite kraid's lair remix, like, always.
I've always loved Kraid's Theme (particularly the the Smash Bros. arrangement for Brinstar Depths), so when I played through the original Metroid again a few months back, I decided I might as well try my hand at it.
Same (on liking the theme, and making a song). :)
Very cool rendition! I've never heard one like this before! I like how jazzy, yet dance-oriented it is.
Nice work. :)
This song is bitchin.
By far tje most spectacular remix of any video game song I have ever heard. There was that spark you sorf of captured in this. As a music enthusiast, I have to ask: What sort of program do you use in for work? Also as a newcomer in the remix department, I'm interested in finding out where you could maybe find the sheet for particular songs or notes?
Would be most appreciated in a response! :)
I think this may be the one ... let's hear the rest
Best remix of this I'v heard yet, and I'm even making my own
Some people would call this jazz, except there is a theory behind the replacing of notes which occur in jazz. I get the impression that these substitutions fall more so into the category of mistakes than into the category of creative manipulation.
this is awesome, i really hope you get popular dude, you got the talent. and yeah... VSAUCE ;d
This remix is like a credits theme good job :)
How could anyone dislike this?! Thinking about it hurts my brain! Nice work!
Found you on BIDIPI Vsauce man this tune is awesome better than Zelda theme well done :D
this is amazing.
I so much loved it you have great talent in your ears.
This mix is fucking godly !
@DubLifeStepBlood I've never had a video hit the 301 mark! (although RUclips definitely needs to fix that...) I feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
Fucking awesome. Can't stop listening...
@Tori965 Haha! I don't have any of the equipment a DJ needs to put on a show, and even if I did, I can't really do any of this stuff realtime...
nice background
and the song too :P
nostalgia
hell yea this song is cool
Dude, this is awesome. Great work.
You ever checked out OCRemix? This sounds like a lot of the stuff from there, you would fit in perfectly with the other remixers. :P
AWESOME!!!! Dope track. Thank you again Vsauce!
I was about to turn this off and then 1:00 happened.
VSAUCE! Awesome remix!
AMAZing
Attack of the 50ft remix!!!
I use Cakewalk Music Creator (but any MIDI sequencer would work) and a bunch of virtual instrument plugins, notably stuff from Native Instruments (Kontakt, Massive, and Battery for this song)
As for sheet music, I'm sure it's out there, but I've never bothered looking for it. I work entirely by ear, cuz that's faster for me. ^__^
Ohhh this one is cool
This is excellent work!! Great job man I can tell you're talented and put a lot of effort into this.
Nice!
@Z13O Yeah for real the megaman music was awesome especially in the megaman x series
Amazing!!!
THIS. IS. AMAZING!!!!
remix more!
oh my glob finally something that is not dubstep. Keep it up man shit is sick!
WOOOOAH, WONDERFULLLL *---*
Ive always loved Music from Video games especially from Classics like Metroid. I would love if you tryed something with Megaman or Zelda. Other than that Good job!
True.
I can't help but notice that you have a copyright on this. I was wondering how to get a copyright on a remix. Do you automatically have fair use rights, or do you have to get them somehow?
Oh, and great work!
I'll go ahead and post this again here in case others want to see it...
All privately created works are automatically copyrighted under US law, whether you apply for official copyright or not (which I've done in the past, but it's largely symbolic and often a waste of $30 for a certificate months later). It's a good idea to use the © symbol to state your intent more than anything else.
With remixes this definitely gets fuzzy quick, but then it becomes a question of HOW MUCH I've taken from other sources and how much is my own. I wouldn't feel comfortable selling my work if I felt it wasn't my own, so I always avoid sampling or even MIDI rips. The other concern is how much my derivative work affects the original(s). In this case, I don't think Nintendo is gonna be hurting as a result.
And honestly, you could do everything right, but if it ever turned into a legal dispute, at least with current laws, you're pretty much gonna lose to the original IP. It's just monumentally unlikely that they'd have any reason to shut you down. I was once contacted by the Cirque du Soleil legal team because of a dumb arrangement I made in like 10th grade. This was back when I did get the official US Copyright certificates and everything, but they were pretty unfazed by that. They tried to fine me $50 + a percentage of all sales, past and future. I paid the $50, told them that in the two years of selling it I'd made $7 total, and that the postage of mailing their share to them would cost more than they'd get. Never heard back from them.
tl;dr It's always gonna be messy to remix stuff (one of the reasons I stopped making them), and if you're ever in doubt, give it away for free! Hope that helped!
Zack Bogucki - ip can be an idea! Hahaha
this world is made to be taken over by globalists...
This is a fun remix. I've been playing with a version of my own for a few months. I'm stuck... I wouldn't worry about copyright problems on this btw.
@Dixetia I really enjoyed this speedy comment!
@karimwesterntch With luck, the space pirates will like it too!
Im buying this off itunes...worth the .99 cents.
It's awesome :D great job :D
This is awesome! I only know the song because i played Super Smash Bros but besides that I love what you did here. Definitely expecting to hear some more great mixes :D
You can thank Vsauce
I like this song man, sounds just great man awesome.
Metroid station
^0^ Let's turn up
I'm fairly certain that's on purpose, and as for copyright infringement, this is classified as an original work due to the major alterations to the original, so I'm pretty sure they cant sue for this without getting sued themselves for a false lawsuit. Of course, I could be wrong, I haven't gone to law school (Yet :3) so I wouldn't really know.
@AtinTheReal Does Amazon not work overseas anymore? I definitely had some Swiss friends try it out for me a few years back... and I completely understand avoiding iTunes forever. (iTunes is more expensive for you guys, but I get the same amount either way. just sayin.)
This song is pretty fast!
Hey, would it be alright if I featured your song in video with a collection of ten Metroid remixes? I'll make sure to credit you in the credits and in the description (if you want me to). You can check out my other videos by searching "Jac0Frost0" and "Jac0Frost0 Zeldafree" in the search bar.
+Jac0Frost0 Zeldafree Go for it! As long as you give credit and link back to here, it's all good.
My mom is cool, she have cleared Metroid, but my best friend who is a real retro video game-nerd have not.
Jizzzeddd
After watching this i think im realy high
The instrumentation gives me a Cave Story vibe.
Quote vs Kraid.
anybody who dislikes this i will personaly seal forever in the deepest darkest crevice in brinstar .
then flip you the bird
Also it's Zack. With a K.
Unfortunately, the notes are not transcribed correctly. Zach, you might want to rethink your transcription of the main melody. There are quite a few discrepancies... Unless, the fact that the melody you use is not the same is an attempt at protecting yourself against copyright infringement issues (which would not work by the way), you might want to take a look at the sheet music...
What do you make your music with?
This creep kraid is like 90 feet tall!!!!!!
Hahaha. That as 5 months ago, Sorry, I can't recall the episode.
Solid shit broskizzle. Here from Vsauce.
Wow 0 dislikes til now
But it´s an awesome remix,so pls keep it up
Just because I needed a new reason to love Vsauce... yep, this'll do it! :P
This song is too good, even for trolls :)
awasome remix. Vsauce ;)
vee sawse
Hey man I liked the song. Just saying.
Nice work! Vsauce sent moi
*0.187%. Ya jerk. This is why we can't have nice things >.>
Have you ever thought of being a professional DJ?
vsauce deuce.
Vsauce brought me here
Vsauce Army!
Hey man where did you get the idea to make this song anyway? It's great how you remixed it.
17 people had missile malfunctions when faceing kraid
Man this was so long ago i was watching Vsauce and that led me to this vid and the highlight brought me back to it good times :)
17, actually
At the time I posted the comment it was 15 let me fix that mate :). And there we go its fixed now.
@@videogamerNattie98 the number of people defeated by Kraid is increasing ! 22 now, keep up the good work Kraid :P
@@YatsuoKogame Yha i know 5 years later and we lost 5 more. So that is 1 per year.
I only just realized how old this is. Amazing music dude, on my yt playlist now
Every time I play Metroid I make it to the first Energy Tank, then I'm like "Yessss! I actually have a chance". Then I die, get mad, (because you respawn in the same spot with only 30 health), rage quit, then I enter NARPAS SWORD and beat the game in 30 minutes.
RedShirtGuy96 Correction: NARPAS SWORD0 000000 00000 ;b
Ah, but I have given full credit to Nintendo for the stuff that's theirs. I always file my remixes through the same copyright process as my original stuff, and as long as I make a note to credit and omit any unoriginal material from my claim, it'll pass through just fine.
...And if Nintendo this somehow threatens their franchise rather than promoting it, I'm sure they'll be the first to let me know! ^__^
Sorry you feel that way, but I can assure you that any "mistakes" I make are intentional. I often ignore "harmonic significance" for effect or simply because I think it sounds better. Either way, I find it a little insulting that you seem to think I haven't studied the theory behind my craft.
@LugiaDialga Thanks so much! This has basically been my baby through a first quarter of college -- this song brought some much-needed stress relief when I really needed it. As for the graphic... thank five hours stuck in a car with my laptop and tablet! :P
@Sin69oo Glad you enjoyed it! I work in Cakewalk Music Creator 5 (a cheaper version of Sonar) with a few virtual instrument plugins from Native Instruments. And the background was just me derping around with vectors in Photoshop to trace what I'd drawn.
@creepersarecreeps That's why I'm here! ^__^ I only had access to crappy speakers and headphones the whole time I was writing this, and it wasn't until I got back home that I realized how much bass I'd pumped into it. That was a good day.
@imperialsoul Cakewalk Music Creator (which is pretty cheap) with virtual instruments (which can get pretty pricey)... this one uses Native Instruments' "Kontakt" and "Massive."
@SunDevilAaron You should head on over to iRule Castle then :P... Of my two Zelda mixes, it's the newer one. Plus I've already uploaded it. No Megaman yet, though...
@randomstuff147 Have you tried making it its own repeating playlist and opening it in multiple browsers? That could be fun...
this is sick well done
