The challenge is to play as Hungary and retake all the land of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. We will have to take land from Austria, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Yugoslavia, Italy and Poland. I will try to preserve the historical borders, but I might not succeed completely. If we get more land than necessary, I will try to assign it to pupets.
Rules:
- Play as Hungary
- Restore all the posessions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire
- Try to not annex anything else
- Ironman

I wonder if the Allies would have worked with a revived Habsburg Empire. Obviously there would be a HUGE advantage to having an ally to the south of Germany and north of fascist Italy, but would they have trusted them? I've been pondering this for some time. There was no WWI guilt clause toward them that I am aware of (rather ironic since it was Franz Joseph who really set the ball in motion, along with the Serbians).

@@anzacwashington7050 I wonder how the Allies would have actually reacted to a revived Austria-Hungary? Would they have given them a chance and worked with the Habsburgs to end Hitler and Mussolini? Or would WWI bad memories make them too suspicious? The post war might have been REALLY complicated, since the Habsburgs firmly believed for centuries that they were born to rule over a united Germany (and they might have demanded right to annex West Germany). It's a fascinating alternative history to consider.

The EU4 period does not cover the 1848 revolutions that created the Austro-Hungary Empire and form the constitutional monarchies in almost all of Europe.
@@alancristhian7532 The EU4 period covers how Austria gets the Hungarian crown and eventually annexes it. For in-game purposes, it's the same thing.

@@emperorleroy6747 Any nation that doesn't exist at the start of the game can simply be released into independence. Slovakia already exists as a German puppet in 1939. That's why it would most likely be the hardest option.

Restore the German empire and Puppet Albanian (because they had a german king, Prince Wilhelm von Wied), Puppet Spain (they were about to also get a german king, but was stoped from France and this eventually led to the Prusso-Franco war), Puppet Romania, Bulgaria and Finland because they also had german kings. This is a tough Challenge and only real man could take this challenge.

Correction: Finnish Monarchists TRIED to get a German king during their brief period in the government, but the project was scrapped as Germany lost WW1.
Finland never had German king but was planning to have one. Just wanted to correct that.

You probably know that, but for everyone else that don't, sending equipment that you captured/seized does NOT modify the autonomy score - though it's faster to just give it all than to pick it separately when you're saturated.
Also you could've tried doing the railroads focus before guaranteeing CS as the modifier definitely helps with RNG roll on full annexation if player can somehow maintain very good relations with them (but that's pretty hard on its own).
I'm quite surprised that Austria denied the referendum with soldiers at the border, Germans didn't declare for Sudeten AND you got all Romanian territory from mediation. That's some content creator luck right there.
And the thing with Germany's war with USSR so early - with so many focus denied because of not controlling CS it's only natural to go forward with preset historical focuses. Still weird that they didn't just attack you first and waited for soviets, could've been much more fun to watch.

I have a challenge for you, put Germany with max buff then play as France and stay democratic, also Spain needs to be Fascist, mission survive and defeat Germany, defeat Soviet Union, if they decide to attack you, and defeat Japan if you feel you want to do it, if you don't feel to defeat Japan I can understand why.

the only problem (believe it or not) is italy since they own a big part of africa which gives a lot of space for the axis to attack from after you backstab them.

He can take all of the Dutch area, Germany, the top chunk of Italy, if you include Charlemagne's empire France (and if not some parts of France were still in the EU4 era HRE), Spain if you include it due to it's time as Emporor of the HRE, all of the Austria-Hungarian empire (Austria being the Emporor from somewhere in the 1300s almost until it fell, with a small timeperiod where a Spanish Hapsburg led the HRE instead of an Austrian one) and a good chunk of Poland.

quick tip that i noticed while i was playing: if u want Austria to agree to the referendum you can't have your troops on the border with Austria.
Is that actually true, do you got some source backing up that?
The region-wide land thing isn't really a waste; it pops up after a few weeks when you take it, it applies to states with 10 infra, and it allows you to build more state buildings. It's quite powerful for a smaller nation because you don't have that many states or slots to begin with.
Are you sure it applies to all? I didn't check afterwards, but initially it only increased in one state
@@Taureor True it affects one state, but it's one at a time. 100 pp per state, so to speak, with a bit of a cool down (there's no timer so I don't know exactly how long it takes). As I said before it's most useful on countries without a ton of states, like, say Austria, Hungary, or even Japan (thanks to all its states being coastal, and having to share slots for dockyards and other factories).

had a game once as germany were i put kaiser wilhelm back on the throne.
austria-hungary formed but i still had the option to have them become part of germany.
took that option and got all their land for free alongside danzig from poland for protecting them from russia and that one chinese city in return for letting china keep my military advisors.
and all of that without a single war fought. (other than the german civil war)
after that i helped the balkans get rid of italy and beat up commy france and russia as the central powers.
by the end of the game i owned all of central europe, france, most of russia and all of italy and the balkans plus poland were part of my faction.
was quite the fun little game :)
Challenge: play as Soviet Union, ignore Trotsky then switch to neutral revolt, win revolt, restore Russian Empire territories as neutral Russia (include Alaska, Finland, Poland, Baltic countries, occupated territories like part of Persia, Manchuria, Mongolia and Wallacia).
I believe you can't play as Neutral Russia, sadly.

If you want better borders you can use the beatiful states mod.
Result of the focus decisions depends on attitude. So Hungary can use "restore old ways" focus (don't know how it in english), that gives +35 opinion of Austria and Czechoslovakia and you can spend some political power from Otto to increase their opinion.

There is one trick to get referendum almost always to succeed, do "reintergration of railways" (idk if that was the exact name of the focus but you get what I mean) and then improve relations until referendum and most likely they will accept.
Pfft, that endgame speed is the speed I have to play on. It takes hours to progress one year.

If you do the Protect Chzechoslovakia focus while Germany does Demand Sudentland you have a higher chance of annexing Chzechoslovakia
I have to thank you for doing this. I kept trying it, and thought I needed, absolutely needed the annex of Austria and Czechoslovakia to go right, for the manpower and troops. Normally I'd get as far as Czechoslovakia, they'd decline all help (10% chance? Really?), than I'd try Transylvania and fail spectacularly due to lack of things.
He actually got quite lucky with the Czechs, their percentage goes up with high relations and integrated railroads, additionally they get a bonus to accepting if Germany is Demanding Sudetenland/doing Fate of Czechoslovakia. To get it with no influence is quite low, even for puppet.

I thought so. I have tried this about 5 times, and only once have I been able to annex everything, and Czechoslovakia is usually the ones that resist, or they allow puppet and I fall to Germany. I guess if I played with historic focuses on, it might be easier. Germany likes to annex Austria earlier than I like to attack them though, due to lack of equipment.
