- I couldn't stop smiling and banging my head to the beat when i saw this come out. And it's fun to think Dave Grohl was waiting for 30 years to play the song again after the first release and play of it. Making all the videos of him almost playing the song that much funnier.

Body language at the end, slumped shoulders, no big Dave Grohl grin when he pushes his hair back after absolutely kicking arse says one thing....after all these years it still hurts. Respect Dave Grohl. We know you're hurting, we feel for you, we love ya man. 🤘🏻❤🥁
You can notice how that pause between the kicks/cymbal hits are so prominent at 4:20. So tight back then and even today!
They'd practice day and night. All week, for hours on end. People think they were sloppy and didn't care, but they played everyday, and you can see that.

@@magicstriker8819 They really were a tight, professional outfit, at least until it started to unravel at the end. Lots of drive to practice and get better. My favorite thing from the box set is the Scentless Apprentice demo where you can sort of hear the song come together.
He may not be the fastest... But that power and that loudness can match any metal drummer💪🔥Dave FUCKIN GROHL!!
He could play fast if he wanted to, but he knows when not to. That's what makes him so great. Songs like Breed, Blew, Everlong, No One Knows, Song for the Dead all show that he is comfortable playing at high speeds
Age might be a factor for him playing slower but in the 90s and early 2000s he was a beast. They played SLTS waaay faster live, he shredded those drums almost every time.
He can still do the fast stuff - not a whole concert. In Foo shows, he usually takes the drums for one song and Taylor goads him into a drum solo.

This is one of the greatest videos pertaining to Nirvana I have ever seen. When I first watched Grohl’s performance, a surreal conglomeration of nostalgia and sadnesss and joy washed over me as Kurt’s vocals came in. I has this sense that Dave was playing here on earth, and Kurt was singing along in heaven above. Shit, I’m getting teary eyed and goosebumps as I type this now thinking about it again. So seeing your wonderfully edited clips of Kurt that look as if Kurt’s ghost is singing along from beyond is just beautiful. It’s fucking beautiful man. Also, because they played this song so much in the Nirvana days, I cannot imagine the potent memories that swept over Grohl as he played. This just made my entire day. Thank you ❤️

And now with Taylor passing it just seems unbearable. Can't imagine Dave being able to relive moments with Taylor and not break. Time doesn't heal all wounds.
The best is when you notice the 21 drum kit is set up exactly as it was in 91 and the video in 91 of him and current, the movements are identical. You felt the power, you felt Dave's emotion. Reason this guy is so great!

Amazing that he plays it at the exact same speed now as he did then. That is some consistency there which is often overlooked in great drummers.
Dave is a fantastic drummer and always has been, but being fair i did have to change the speeds of his past drumming of the song because they varied so much. You're the first person to comment on this though, ha.

Watching this really makes you appreciate Dave Grohl as performer and music artist. He literally was one of the top rock drummers in the 90s, if not of all time, but also an amazing Grammy award winning song writer playing Guitar and singer as well. I love it!

he started to vibes to the song and act similar to what he does in the 90s the longer he listen to Kurt's vocal (look at the difference in the intro from when Kurt's vocals in), he feels the spirit.
That was a-maz-ing!!!! Same intensity as when he was young. Yet a touch of the bittersweet at the end.
Man never missed a beat. All these year later playing this song must have been an emotional roller coaster. I just hope Dave is doing well these days in spite of recent events.

I’m so used to dave being on guitar and singing with the foo fighters. I also didn’t listen to nirvana growing up. So I sometimes forget dave even played drums at one time.
