- So you've found that unicycle in your mother's garage and think you want to give it a shot.
This video is my entry to contribute to many other great unicycle tutorials. I've tried to make this concise, clear, and actionable. I've also including points I haven't seen many people address in their unicycle tutorials.
Good luck!

Riding today (started a month ago) and felt my hips moving side to side and back and forth (a little). I was able to peddle smoother with this happening. Got home and found your video. You are the first person I have been able to find to tell me something more than practice more.
I was shocked that you mentioned the wheel not moving in a straight line and you should let it do it’s think.
Thank you
I love hearing this. Thank you! I’m so pumped you’re pedaling smoother. Keep at it!
3:00 it takes a bit of practice but you can almost drive in a straight line on a unicycle. You even don't need any arms to balance. Was a great feeling driving on my 29" with handlebar and just keeping both hands on the bar and only balancing from the hips.
Totally. Riding in a straight line is completely possible. Thank you for mentioning.
This video helped so much! I had trouble peddling before, but with the things I just learned, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon enough.
I hope so! I’m excited to hear if this translated into improvements
Excellent video, thanks. Rode a 20" all over back in the 70's, and starting to get the itch again. The UDC Titan 29", looks like a blast.
Thank you! Yeah bigger wheels are such a different game. I’m looking to get a Titan as well actually
These are great tips that I haven't seen in other videos. Thanks mate.
Ah dude thank you so much! I really appreciate the comment - makes my day
Ha ha! I would love to dismount involuntary the way you demonstrate. Mine seems to show me the dirt so often, onto my back, all of a sudden.
I'm actually working on a "Practice falling" tutorial or suggested drills video because you're definitely not alone!
great videos Dan, thanks mate. Australia
I appreciate that. I hope they’re helpful
I have learned to use my break to lock the wheel and get a little of a walking start to mount my 32 inch.....its extremely easy to do that for me and idk if im becoming dependent on that or what. I dont want to develop bad habits but i definitely do that every day just because it made it easier. Now when i was a child i had a 20 inch that i was able to get on but i struggle to free mount without the aid of the break. So ive just kept using the break.
Hey whatever works, works! You’re out there and that’s what counts. I’m coming out with a full mounting 101 video soon but I don’t talk about brakes… that’s a very good point and if you got ‘em, why not use them? 32 inches is a lot more difficult to mount than a 20 so you gotta do it how you can
4:54---wow
"Probably a good idea to learn how to get off" ... yeah probably.. Great instructional, Dan. Go with the squiggle!
Haha go with the squiggle
