- How is the acceleration of Mazda’s CX-5 turbo. Most tests show 6.0 to 6.5 seconds depending on method. We don’t do any roll out or brake torquing. Just smash and go. #mazda #cx5 #turbo #0-60

6.4 is pretty great for an SUV. It’s not a Kona N but still pretty sufficient.
😂🤣 Kona N 0-breakdown in less than a month 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
And the even better thing is the low end torque that helps in all scenarios, passing on the highway, grocery getting, daily life. Thanks for watching!

In the real world though the Kona N is going to be around the same 0-60 as this (I own one)
Ok so i test drove a 2025 cx-5 premium plus and a premium turbo. Almost similar in startup acceleration! I was expecting to love the turbo but i bought the premium plus that have sport mode on it. 1 week and loving it! Saved myself $5k
Excellent. The non-turbo works well and will return better gas mileage. Plus that purchase price savings. The smart thing you did is drive both to find the one right for you. Congrats! Thanks for watching and enjoy your CX-5.
@BeyondTheTestDrive Not really a fan of the transmission tuning. Drops the engine way out of its powerband.
May I ask,as you didn't go for the turbo charged version, how much horsepower does your vehicle have? I am living in Germany,so the turbo charged version isn't available here, only the natural aspirated engine with 194 hp maximum. 😊
I don't like Skyactiv transmissions all that much tbh. They just don't have anything on it over a ZF@nickhobby5609

I got a 2016 and it goes to 100mph in abt 6.4s I’m working on it.
no, it doesn’t.
When the test was done, was the car filled with premium or regular gas? If premium, do you see a massive difference between these two?
Thanks for watching! Yes, this did have premium. We have a CX-9 that has the same engine and for the most part cannot tell when we have premium or regular in everyday driving. For foot to the floor acceleration and when you have passengers and weight in the car you can tell just a little. The 2.5 turbo and six speed is not that quick to 60 but it offers great torque at all speeds and its drivability is top notch.
@@BeyondTheTestDriveYeah, I have this model and I have never tried to put premium gas in it. Like you said, it's when you press the acceleration to the floor that you feel the premium gas. However, I feel greatly the torque, and I think that an 6.4 seconds in 0-60 mph is pretty good. Do you think the regular gas can affect the 0-60 by making it in 7.3 seconds as other test with regular fuel on the cx-5 say. Ps: I suscribed.
@@Jothelegendthanks for subscribing! I am not sure of the difference but even on regular I would guess around or just under 7 seconds. Torque does not really fall much on regular and the HP drop is at the peak and fairly similar across the rev band.
pretty good 0-60 for a 4000lb CUV daily driver.
I think it’s more like 3500 lbs
why is it shifting at 5000 rpm ?
Mazda’s transmission tuning. If you manually shift you can get some more rpm’s out of it but it will still auto up shift. Well before the redline. The engine hp is dropping rapidly at around 5k rpm so Mazda figures to above that is not necessary. Thanks for watching.
Does it have cylinder deactivation and istop? Looking to buy one
Thanks for watching. According to Mazda USA, Turbo models do not have cylinder deactivation nor istop. Good luck with your shopping!
Why other 2.5t cx5 7.7 second? isit original tuning?
Thanks for watching. No tuning in this. Most publications have this in the low 6s. 7.7-8 is typical for the non-turbo.
@@BeyondTheTestDrive May I know your cx5 rim size is 17 inch? Because our country is 19 inch
@@carsontan2081turbo premium and signature trims is 19inch
93or 89 gas octane?
Pretty sure this was on 93. For test vehicles we always use the highest recommended octane. We have a CX-9 with the same engine and don’t really notice a difference between the two octanes. We will run 93 every 3rd or 4th tank and alway use 93 when doing a road trip with luggage and passengers in the car. Thanks for watching!
Why is he shifting on 5rpm when can go to 8rpm it would be way less than 6.4 my friend got one and it so 0-60 in4.8 this video is not accurate 😅
Less than 5 seconds in a CX-5 turbo? That would make the news. Maybe your friend is doing 0-60 km/hr? Most major publications report times (0-60 miles per hour) in the low to mid 6s, much like we observed. A few notes: the redline is a little over 6000 rpm, not 8000 rpm. And the 256 horsepower peaks at 5k rpm, so the automatic tends to shifts a little over that. Thanks for watching.
Looks slow, but then it's just a regular car.
No, actually it's pretty fast. 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds is considered pretty good, so it's considered a sport suv. It's only the revint that doesnt go high because the torque is at low rpm, so it's incredible for also the regular driving.
It is t revving all the way
Pedal is floored.
Mazda turbos will upshift well short of the redline. Manual shifting it will get it a little closer but it will still auto up shift. Power is dropping off dramatically above 5000 rpm. Thanks for watching.
why 60 ? we need 100 bro
😂. True true. But we have to be safe.
its mph, so 60 = 100kmh
Non turbo similar acceleration you save money your payments are cheaper it wont burn oil or have a costly repair once the turbo goes bad plus better gas mileage and you have the option to buy after market bult ons for more power or you can add a better turbo if you feel like it just save yourself the extra 6k
It shakes in 200 🤦🏽 but
0-60 in 2-3 business days
you’re funny
0-60... kph
No, mph
bro scared of the pedal
pedal mashed to floor. Thanks for watching.
That was at least 7.5
Honestly not that much quicker at all than the NA.
