I met Vincent Price when I was a little kid in San Diego. He and his wife were sitting at the table directly across from ours at Tom’sHouse Lighthouse Restaurant-I was awestruck! Mr. Price kindly smiled and acknowledged me while my parent were kinda embarrassed. Because it was a gourmet buffet Mr. Price eventually came by our table our table with his plate and said “ hello my young friend!” I was awestruck! He casually sat down with us and talk with us like old friends. What a classy gentleman who made me so happy!

I met Mr. Price many years ago when he was traveling around the country with his presentation of "Villains Still Pursue Me". Not only was it a wonderful peek behind the curtain of his life in theater and film, but at the luncheon after the show, I timidly walked up to the dais to ask him for an autograph. Not only did he sign my copy of a horror movie book I had brought with me, but he invited me up on the dais to pose with pictures with him.
The pictures show an awestruck fan standing next to his idol and all the while, he chatted with me as if we were old friends. I will never forget that day, and I have that book and will never part with it!
I was 5 in 1965, Vincent price was the king of all things creepy, his voice is probably the most recognizable out of all actors, I loved any movie or TV show with him in it. Thank you for this movie.

I remember when Alice Cooper did a TV show based on his album, Goes to Hell. Vincent did a cameo appearance to his part on the album.
My Dad was a fan of Price, Vampire movies,Mummy, Frankenstein, and all the classics. I was 5 also in 1965. Wasn't scared of any😂

It was some of the best music Alice Cooper ever produced. But, the best of all was The Black Widow, with Vincent Price. He made the entire concept work.

I saw this in 1972 when I was 8 yrs old. I had chicken pox and a pretty high fever. I was happy I didn't have to go to school. This movie scared the heck out of me. Something about it with my fever. The scenes where they showed the wind blowing after saying ot may be carried by the winds was so creepy and ominous. Vincent price was the master.
I'm a loner by nature and this would be paradise on earth for me. Personally I prefer the B&W version. It captures the mood of this movie. It's still cool watching the color version.

As this movie was based on the book, "I am Legend".
Omega Man was another adaptation of Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, the Will Smith version is a remake of The Omega Man. Heston didn’t even know about Last Man until after preproduction began on Omega Man.
There are multiple reasons for this, from I Am Legend’s writer credits including the same Omega Man screenwriters, to Warner Bros and writer/producer Akiva Goldsman’s dismissive attitude the novel, and ultimately Warner Bros wanting an Omega Man remake ever since the cancelled project with Ridley Scott and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Vincent Price is a real Legend
Big fan of Mr price. Seen quite a few films of his. Plus some of his radio work. They don't make them like this any more. Also a bit of trivia. This movie was filmed in Italy. Hence the opening titles. It gives it a distinctive feel to the proceedings. Good choice🙈🙉🙊

They were wampires, but George Romero drew inspiration from this film when filming "Night of the Living Dead".

I remember this movie is a kid and it scared the heck out of me but now I'm grown up and old ..I wonder why didn't he have a gun???? And I think I would have had my windows and doors secured a little better than just a little boards across to where they could lookin at me that would freak me totally out lol
In the original book he was indeed armed, had several pistols in fact, but they're immune to gunfire. There's a part where he loses his mind somewhat and runs out the house with two pistols and empties them into the crowd, and it doesn't even slow them down.
@@naedanger123 i think a remake of this film would be cool with better acting more passion and realistic violence ( ok Price was good as usual ) better props (like bulletholes/ricochets like they do in westerns etc) n makeup and less flaws like for instance the part @1:23:45 where he ducks in a room that the armed guys didnt even check properly ! went straight past it lol , i mean if your flushing a building with 30 guys everyone checks a room thoroughly !
wat i would of done as director would be that he goes in a cupboard or better still down a trapdoor and to cover his tracks pulls a cabinet over the trapdoor for instance or goes into some vent ducting or something !

He couldn't. The plague appears to have affected certain plant species as well. His dwindling garlic supply must be refrigerated to preserve its effectiveness in repelling the vampires and he can't grow more of it.
A really fantastic take on the story, heavily colored by the time it was made. I really enjoyed this move and hey Vincent Price is always a highlight.
Some places in this movie was looking familiar to me, as well as the lorries. I just realized the locations are mostly in Italy, at 56:02 you can see the EUR building in Rome on the background.

Wel the book was written by Richard Matheson, original title is I Am Legend. This first movie the title was changed to The Last Man On Earth with Vincent Price. It was remade in the seventies with Charlton Heston called The Omega Man. Then in 2007 it was remade again with the original title I Am Legend with Will Smith of course. Also I Am Legend II just got the green light despite Will Smiths recent problem.

The real Legend was Dick Matheson. An absolute genius sci-fi and mystery writer. We need more like him.

The colorization fades in and out a bit but still worth watching. Was able to pick up some enhanced details with this version that are difficult to see in the B/W movie. Thx for posting!!
When I was 19 Vincent Price gave me a tiny black kitten in a Tupperware. I called him Osbert and grew to enormous size and was very aggressive so I found him another home where he fit right in with all the other crazy animals!

It's just outstanding. Then, where does evil hunt? They hunt themselves.
Written by the outstanding Richard Matheson, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Somewhere In Time, some of the classic Twilight Zones, phenomenal talent. Undermined by substandard supporting actors and the director's leaden touch and in this instance, Price, who is not at his best. You can see where Night of the Living Dead came from. Through all that, the writing comes through like a skyrocket.

I also loved him as the voice of Professor Ratigan in "The Great Mouse Detective" (1986) and his work in "Edward Scissorhands" (1990). He had a good character in "The Raven" (1963), too.
I miss his hosting of "Mystery!" on PBS in the 80's.

Did anyone notice in the beginning credits that this was taken from the book I am Legend. Will Smiths was a remake. I had no idea until I saw the credits and put it together.

So many undertones of a recent pandemic here.
Strange how their hands didn't colourize completely, giving an extra dimension in my opinion.
The great writer Richard Matheson, like his brilliant friend Rod Serling, was very Christian in his works, such as on his twilight zone episode The Howling Man and Serlings The Obsolete Man. Here he turns the Price character into a modern Christ who saves the world while murdered by a mob... inside a church to make sure everyone gets it. Well done.
I think you fundamentally missed the point of his novel I Am legend. It ends with Neville recognizing that he is a monster in the new world. That the world he once knew is no longer, and that he is the new boogey man. He is legend.Even the book character is a staunch atheist. I chalk up the movie ending to hollywood since it has no guts to imply the main character might actually be a monster.

Whisleing when he walked past a graveyard . At one point I had to walk a path between a graveyard and a dark thick woods to get to a bus stop for school . NOT CREEPY AT ALL , I was 11 y/o and pertty much ran down the path as fast as I could .
This post apocalyptic America actually looks better than a lot of parts of current America.

Love this film, not to mention the immortal Vincent Price! Yet I must say I prefer the B/W version; it is more atmospheric and menacing. B/W photography is a discipline and a 'language' on its own, hence applying color to B/W photo's or films is not necessarily an improvement. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Omega Man featuring Charlton Heston was a great remake. While I like Will Smith 'I Am Legend" was crap. You just can't beat classics. Tonight I will watch the ""Moonstone" episode from the classic Outer Limits again on Pluto stream channel.

This movie was made in Roma, my city. I recognize the building style (le palazzine) and some places. Some old FIAT model can be recognized at the beginning od the movie.

I think I like this version best. Based on the book "I Am Legend," this was the first movie version. Then Charlton Heston did "The Omega Man" and Will Smith, who I can't stand, did "I Am Legend."
Smith is just unbearable.
I like I Am Legend the more. A man, a dog, in city full of hyperstrong vampires, just about to go crazy. Damn, it's cinema at its best.
The Will Smith version is trash. This is closer to the book, which is excellent
