    Fast Times perfectly captures big box high school life in the 1980s. I graduated in 1985 and that movie nailed it.

    That scene with Phoebe Cates is one of the most famous scenes ever. Fast Times is one of the best movies ever.

    Such an Iconic Movie. Watching it now, almost makes me Cry😥 . Being from California, and graduating in 1987.. That movie was my life..Gosh life was Great back then.. (Miss the Big Malls & Surf 🏄‍♂️)

      Tom Hanks stole his career. I've seen creepy things about Hanks, never about Reinhold. Guttenberg was huge too and Hanks just took over that whole 'nice regular guy' thing and left the others in his dust.

      I’m from Buffalo and that was the first time I ever saw a high school where you actually get to walk outside to class lol…..it blew my mind 😂

    I was 13 when _Fast Times_ came out; I’d grown up at the Sherman Oaks “Gonorrhea” (as we called it).
    We saw it IN the Pacific 4 theater there, so it was like “Inception” to see into the actual theater. I remember the crowd goin nuts throughout. Naturally it’s thee most nostalgic flick of my life.

    I saw a program about sketch comedy where Harold Ramis talked about how he first met Bill Murray at a Second City class. At first, Harold saw himself as a performer, but once he saw Bill Murray he realized he could never perform and be a star like him. So, he decided that if he couldn't perform like Murray, he would write for him. Just brilliant.

    l was stationed at Ft. Knox and used as an extra in Stripes. The cast stood in Muldraugh, KY which was very dry. John Candy would get his beer just over the county line at a place called the Chicken Shack in Radcliff, KY.

      ​@@robbieracer3294 lol. My right arm for about a second. The funny part is about 13 years later I was a Drill Sgt. at Ft. Sill, OK when they filmed "In the Army Now" with Pauly Shore. Our entire training unit was in that one. That one I can be seen in when they are in basic training jogging by the cannons. They thought it would look better if we were in sweat pants and sweat jacket rather than shorts and t-shirt. It was the middle of August and 90 degrees at 9am. We'd jog a 1/4 mile, stop, wait for them to reset the cameras, then jog back. We did this from 11am to 4 pm.

    My Judge Reinhold story took place circa 1983-1984 and I was waiting for my dad to get out of work and hung up at RIP City Skates in Santa Monica and the owner would have one of us kids get him something from McDonald's across the street and we would get something and he usually wanted a cup of coffee and this one day, I ordered the coffee and was waiting and this tall white guy came up and he kinda cut in line and he looked down at me and said "sorry" and he asked the guy for an application and I said dude, you were Brad in Fast Times, why did you need an application and he said research and I asked didn't your character work at All American Burger where he got fired and he chuckled and he shrugged his shoulders and I said I can't wait to see your next project that your researching. He smiled and he, shook my hand and said thanks. Very awesome guy for sure!!!!!

    I remember when I 1st moved to Dallas Texas. I was in a grocery store and askes one of the clerks where was the beer section. The person said "It's Dry". I replied with "Yeah, it's pretty hot outside." I was quite shocked to find out what a dry county was.

      In the summer of '85 I remember several guys from our high school baseball team traveled to Waxahachie for a tournament. The horror when we found out it was a dry county! Also remember on that same trip driving to the Sportatorium in Dallas to watch the Von Erich's wrestle. Lol

    I read a magazine interview with Judge Reinhold in the mid-80s and he was genuinely hilarious and forthright, a true wit. I always felt he was one of those actors that never got a solid/serious role to show off his true acting abilities.

    I really liked Reinhold as an actor in all his films. He was never an over the top meat headed, muscle headed type, but a calm, warm, approachable guy. Someone who could anyone's friend.

    Judge also did a scene in Fast Times with Nancy Wilson of Heart that was made to make his character look like a "Nerd". Anyone who was in High School during that movie release knows what a great influence in pop culture that film was.

    My favorite character in "Stripes" was Sgt "Big Toe" Hulka....sadly, Warren Oates died in 1982. He was also deputy Sam Wood in the classic movie "In the Heat of the Night".

    I was an M1A1 tanker. I did my basic and ait at Ft. Knox. Got off the bus and met our drill sergeants in the same room they met "Sergeant Hulka". Did the same obstacle course, and the motor pool full of tanks you see when they sneak away was my motor pool. Great memories.

      "Young audiences" have no sense of humor. They're always too busy being offended to actually laugh and enjoy anything. I showed my 14 year old granddaughter an episode of "Handyman" starring Damon Wayans from the show In Living Color. She was SHOCKED that I could even find that because it was so "offensive". It's sad, really. Too busy being offended to actually enjoy.

    Harold Ramis and John Candy both starred in the first season of the Canadian TV show SCTV. Ramis left after year 1 to write Animal House and Candy stuck around for whole run. Other SCTV alumni in Stripes were Joe Flaherty as a border guard and Dave Thomas as the mud wrestling MC.

    I went to basic training at Ft. Knox in 1989. When you got off the bus you went right into the building where they first met Sgt. Hulka. The "clerks and jerks" like me lived in the old WWII wooden barracks that were used in the movie.

      I saw Tommy Lister asked who his favorite costar ever was. without hesitation he said John Candy. his friend and stunt double's mother died during the shoot. John Candy flew him home, paid for the funeral, told him take what time he needed and paid him in full for the job. Lister said I just loved him

    Judge was in some great comedies, Ruthless People with Danny Devito & Bette Midler was hilarious.

      It was Nancy Wilson and she’s the wife of Cameron Crowe who wrote Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

      @@angrytater2456 They were a couple at the time and Cameron tells a story where they took the Corvette for a joyride out on city streets. Turned out it was a studio prop car and the prop master got mad at them since it wasn’t allowed to be driven on public roads.

    Met him and his wife at a convention. He was such a warm and nice guy and his wife was great. We talked about some of his other films besides the big hits. Genuinely cool guy.
