  • 2nd Gen Cummins Y steering vs. T steering. I'm no expert by any means so I could be slightly off with some of the things I say on Y steering vs. T steering, but this video is meant to at least show you the difference between how Y steering on a 00-02 2nd gen Cummins and T steering upgrade are installed on a 2nd Gen Cummins diesel truck. T steering is stronger than the Y steering is and you can install 4th gen steering upgrade, or a 98-99 HD T steering onto your 00-02 Cummins truck. If I left anything out or didn't cover something correctly or as much as I could, and anybody else has some knowledge they'd like add to the comment section then that would be great. This is a good topic for everyone to learn something about. Thanks for watching!

      You can just say 2001 Cummins. The 24 valve is just a given since they stopped making the 12v in early 98.

    98-99 3500 has T steering that bolts directly to 2500 knuckles with no mods. Whole swap requires no mods. Thicker rods too.

  • @TheKillerMarine
    @TheKillerMarine 5 лет назад +2

    Just an clarify here. 98-99HD steering doesn't work on a 2000 and up truck. The tapers are different. Now from 2000 to current the 2500/3500 tapers didn't change. So you can actually use the 4th gen beefier steering kit Mopar sells. Also to get rid of the "roll" you insert a puck (which come with factory parts), the only aftermarket manufacture that still uses the puck is ACDelco.

      Have you checked your ball joints? Jack it up and check them out. Id be willing to bet they'll probably need to be replaced. Check the wheel bearing out too. If just replace everything all at once while you're in there and have it all apart. The wheel bearing has to come out to do the ball joints anyways. It would also be a good time to check the axle shaft u joints and/or replace them also. Freshen everything up and not worry about any of it again fpr awhile.

But one that 2500 Cummings I am looking at has the T steering upgrade which I was not sure of what it entailed at first so nice explanation. Is the Bilstein shock you mentioned the bast stabilizer to get? I see alot of the Rancho and others rusting up pretty bad in a short time, this is a concern for me since I am in MN. Any thoughts on which route to take on the trucks might be helpful....Thanks

    He actually skimmed my rear fender who plowed into the back door and my door kind of pushing down my truck hit my front driver side wheel bent the whole thing putting the other way. But I got this part stuck and I was going to try to put all the parts on it I'm just hoping that the axles are the same gears inside and I was hoping the transfer case is the same I don't really want nothing to do with that. I'm currently having that problem, and I can't really see any way around it. Replacing the ball joints etc wont change anything since A. They're tight anyways. And B. The slop comes from them pivoting side to side.
