I was 7 years old when Elvis passed. We were living in Auckland, New Zealand. We had just got our first colour TV. I was watching dad set up the TV, and the news came on that Elvis had passed. Mum was in the kitchen cooking and burst out crying. I asked dad...Who is Elvis, why is mum sad? He said to me, your mum loved Elvis. I will never forget that moment. Mum was the biggest Elvis fan, and I too became a fan. I have never seen a more handsome man, every time I see his videos my heart melts, every time I hear his voice, I get chills. What a Legend. I was one of those teenagers in the 50’s. I was hating the thought of getting up out of bed, getting ready for school, when “Heartbreak Hotel” came on the radio and I was out of bed like a shot, racing to the radio to turn that music up as loud as my mother would allow! For weeks (I think) it was played every morning, same time, better than any alarm clock ever. Saw him years later perform live in Chicago. Unbelievable! Absolutely unbelievable. These videos are great. Now magnify each video a thousand times and that’s what his live performances were.
