@@GIGio_OfficialI wanna point out that Mindy and the creator got their asses kissed by the executives. They thought this was a good idea. The Nielson ratings says otherwise
It's done all the time. They order 2 seasons, shortly after the fist one comes out they announce the second season to boost hype and SEO. If the show does poorly after that, they quietly cancel it to save face.
The Ego Kaling has to pre decide that EVERY ONE of the Mystery Gang was 100% going to simp not for Velma, but for HER. She had to be the smartest, the funniest, the most relatable, and the most desired in the room. Her ego had its own ego in this abomination of a series. I hope, now people got past their morbid curiosity with the first season, that the second gets absolutely abysmal views/attention, so Kaling can crawl back to her safe space surrounded by her echo chamber of friends.
Adding onto the mystery section, if Fred's mom is a hypnotist she could have saved herself and everyone else the trouble by just working that magic on Fred to get him to do what she wants.
Wonderful video Gio! I think it's also worth mentioning how awful Mindy Kaling is as well, because so many of the criticisms of Velma can apply to all of her characters, and even to Mindy herself from what I've heard. The main character in Never Have I Ever, Devi, is just as unlikeable, annoying, selfish and generally terrible to everyone around her, and is consistently rewarded for this behaviour. Plus, Mindy herself has said on record that she committed SA against one of her co-stars and used her power to bully employees into not saying anything. She said this on a late night talk show as a funny aside, a hilarious anecdote, because it's super funny when women do it to their co-stars apparently. She's an awful person, her characters are awful, and I hope that she is one day held accountable for the toxicity she brings to Hollywood and the bad name she gives female actors of colour. But anyway, great video as always Gio!
Damn if that is all true, that is crazy. And thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and now we can all put Velma behind us....until season 2
And yet it's dumb how they just early announce a Season 2 right off the bat when clearly a producers and writters make a series, They work on Season 1 and while season 1 airs, They work on Season 2 and put it on hold, Then if Season 1 finale ends great making the ratings good enough for profits then they can officially announce a Season 2 and continue their work. But if Season 1 ends up failing with the bad ratings or worst ones, Then they put their Season 2 on hold in the dumpster while possibly revealing what Season could've been with the characters and plots for the fans. But the producers for Velma have huge level amount of stupidity as i don't understand how is that even possible.
I say this a lot about the Velma show. This was always a Mindy vanity project. She sees herself as Velma. That the whole world revolves around Mindy. Everyone wants to do everything to make her happy. No one calls her out. And everyone is in love with her. Anyone that doubts Mindy isn't a narcissist has this show as an example she is.
My girlfriend is both a psychologist and a HUGE The Office fan, meaning she’s seen a lot of interviews and knows quite a bit of information about the main cast and its writers….And she agrees with your assessment of her. Oh and Mindy should stop playing the “my difficult times growing up” considering her upper middle class upbringing in the Boston area.
I think that i remember hearing that they ordered 20 episodes from the beginning and that even without the hate watching it still would've gotten a second season.
You left out the part where Daphne is a violent Monster, who, at the beginning of episode one, savagely beat one of her classmates over a disagreement.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that a Christmas-themed prequel to the 3D animated movie "Scoob" that was almost done was canceled at the last minute in 2022 by Warner Bros as a tax write-off. A movie that the animators still went ahead and completed just for themselves even though they knew it was never going to be shown to the public. And we still got THIS.........
And there was a Hex Girls movie that got canned..... But we're getting a new adult Flintstones show starring Pebbles yay........ Thank God I don't have HBO Max
I just learned about this practice and it doesn't make a lick of sense to me. Why greenlit something for two seasons without seeing the viewership it can get. Like genuinely I don't get it.
@@GIGio_Official because money. No I'm not being sarcastic, that's actually the reason. From the network's PoV More seasons = higher chance for people to be interested in the series as a whole= better ratings, better ratings= lots of money. Does this way of thinking work in practice? No, not really. But for some ungodly reason, networks keep doing this.
See i just learned about this practice and it makes no sense to me. Why greenlight a show for two seasons for 2 seasons without even seeing how the first one does. That can't be good business!
I concur plus when it comes to hate watching...some people don't actually watch it on the actual services. I've learnt more than enough about this show from all the youtubers critiquing and reacting to it.
@@GIGio_Official Animation is time consuming and expensive. Giving animated shows the standard 6 episode launch doesn't work because you can't finish the season while it's airing. Instead studios will ask for a set number of episodes and then greenlight work on the next season if the first does well. Although I have no idea why HBO asked for 20 episodes right off the bat since seasons are typically 8-12 episodes. Maybe they were banking too much on Mindy Kaling and Scooby Doo to bring viewers through name recognition alone.
@@MrDj232 I mean maybe. In my mind that’s why we wait years for a sequel to anything animated and that’s understandable. The only harm in waiting to green light a second season would be that it would come out later. But still I feel like that would save WB money if they just waited
It definitely doesn't deserve to be to the third lowest rated show, that is giving it far too much credit. It is a microcosm of weird personal politics and irrational hatred. It is the worst thing to be created by humans, outside of anything that kills whole swathes of them.
I just hope this is the last "remake" of our favourite childhood shows, imagine if the media industry decided to remade, Captain Planet, or Ben 10, or Samurai Jack and make it as "WOKE" as possible or worst hire Mindy Kaling to be the writer and self insert herself again.
About Velma getting a second season, there might be more to this story than we think. A while ago, I heard about this trick that has happened before where the creators of a show will order a single season's worth of episodes and then split them into two seasons in order to make it look like there was enough popular demand to warrant more seasons. Now I'm not saying that's what Mindy Kaling did. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be true.
@Will N And there's victorious, the show on nickolodeon. there was originally gonna have 3 seasons but they split the third season in half making a season 4
Thus reminds me of the quote "but common sense came out people say it wasn't that bad..... omg they hated it" as well the line "people find it more fun to hate it then like it" which are all true.
I think the real kicker with Fred's mom is boys tend to gain their intelligence when the X chromosome is passed on. Sooo if he is dumber then a wet brick well where did he get it from then? because he only has 2 parents and only one of you has 2 Xs and only the one with 2 Xs pass on an X.
I think the real kicker is that all the women in this show cause their own problems! Fred's mom didn't raise him properly or at least give him a shot at getting interested in the business (or hypnotize him to become great at it) , Velma's mom has issues and apparently was NOT happy in her marriage to Velma's dad, Daphne is a violent little drug dealing mean girl who is sexually confused, and Norville's mom cucked his dad into oblivion! Velma is the worst of them all due to her bad attitude and self inflating ego! This is NOT the Velma we have come to know over the years.
Hey Gio. First of all, no, you were not too harsh on this show. Not even close. I couldn't even finish episode 1. Yeah, it WAS THAT bad for me. This show hates everyone and was only made for the 9 people in the writers' room. I enjoyed this video. Your editing is immaculate as always and your comedy was funny and of course, I like your take on timing and how it's important. (Something I'm trying to work on with my jokes) Also, just wanted to say that your Arrow video last month actually inspired me to dedicate to working out. I've been going strong for a month. So, thank you, take that what you will.
The dumbest part about Victoria’s plan is the fact that she didn’t hypnotize Fred into being more competent. Like why steal ppl’s brains at all, when you’re skilled with hypnosis
She couldn't do that a brain can only work at maximum capacity. If she hypnotized Ferd to be smart he would say a bunch of cliches he thinks a smart person would say rather than do anything that was actually smart.
It has one redeeming quality, one tiny insignificant speck of a quality that makes this show good It's such hot garbage that it united the entire internet, in agreement that Velma is ... 🎉The worst piece of media ever produced🎉
Anyone remember shows like TRON: Uprising, Motor City and Wander Over Yonder? Because they all have one thing in common: They got screwed over because the network they aired on preferred other shows over them.
Mindy got an award from the PRESIDENT because of this show. If that doesn’t show how bad western entertainment has gotten, idk what does. There is no value to awards. Not related to Velma, but have you seen Mindy? A few months ago she was super heavy. Like how she looks in Velma (because gotta self insert). But now when she has slimmed down. Anyone know why? Diet and exercise? No that would be the proper way to get healthy. No no no, she hopped on the new Hollywood trend of weight loss by injecting herself with the diabetic medicine ozempic. In spite of not having diabetes. Mindy is injecting herself with a medicine she doesn’t need. Contributing to a mass shortage. My dad is diabetic and NEEDS ozempic, but Mindy uses it because, unlike what she preaches in her show, she wants to be thin and pretty. All of Hollywood is like this. Narcissistic, selfish, and all around vile people. Mindy is the worst one right now because of how bad her show was. I’m sick of these entitled people and how much influence they have on our culture. And they don’t even make anything GOOD.
The finger snapping gets worse, someone noted that we see people snap their fingers in front of Velma a lot in tbe first quarter of the show. Pretty much none of the mystery elements was given any care.
People say the Velma character is the writer doing a self insert fantasy, but I think they're wrong. The writer's self insert are all the characters that have their brains removed 🤣
That’s why the Danny phantom Trio works because Danny gets called out for the Bad action and Same with Teen Titans , Fairly oddparents and scooby doo and ben ten and more Danny phantom is my all time favorite show
As far as I'm aware the hate watching isn't the reason for the 2nd season, apparently they were always going to do 20 episodes, and they decided to split it into two sets of 10 to do 2 seasons
Literally a bunch of projects gets scrapped and canceled and this garbage gets another season. David Zaslav is being a clown as always in Warner Bros. And this is just sad how much they're beating and sabotaging HBO Max left and right. And what even sickens me even more is that Mindy Kaling has gotten a medal from Biden from this. America and the entertainment industry is really falling apart. It feels like the whole world is run by clowns now.
So...bout that snapping comment. Velma is snapped at when Daphne and her friends are surrounding her by the lockers. Which by all definition should break the hypnotism, but it doesn't. Because that that point in the show, we dont know any of that. But as a mystery show, continuity should be one of the most important factors.
Velma didn't get a second season because it was "hate-watched so much", they had already decided to give it a second season before season 1 even aired.
Stop perpetuating this myth that hate watching got this show a season 2. Episodes take a long time to make. It’s more likely the season was meant to be longer, but WB and HBO decided to cut it in half and are calling the other half season 2 for marketing purposes.
I get what your saying, but shows get signed for another season before the the prior finishes airing all the time. If they really did split up the season than why would the show have a (sloppy) but clear ending for the season. I'm sorry but i just don't see that making sense. For me the idea of Warner Brothers seeing the viewership of the first couple episode and immediately signing another season makes more sense then them not seeing any data and basically giving a show 2 seasons off the rip.
It was already slated for a second season before the first episode aired hate watching was very low, in fact it average views after episode was extremely low
I've posted a comment on another video somewhere. Basically, I said that the only good thing to come out of Velma is that it's convinced the audience to give other shows a chance that they previously hadn't. Got more people into watching the older shows again
It probably got a second season because it was already made, not because it got hate watched so much. They probably just animated 20 episodes and broke it up into two seasons.
thing about the creative team is some seem like genuinely ok people I remember a storyboarder who put the show in his bio with pride because he was happy with how much work he did and, as bad as the show was, that he managed to make one of the better aspects if only the rest of the team had that spunk
Velma isn’t funny because it doesn’t understand comedy, I once researched a piece of fan art of a blue dragon and I accidentally researched an overly dark children’s book series, my reaction of horror that I still haven’t fully got over is funnier, morrowseer is funnier than Velma because he’s so evil that he belongs in a parody, peril’s backstory is funnier because she was turned in to a weapon to destroy dragon eggs at the age of 1 year old, this sounds so over the top dark that it becomes funny. The fact that a childrenn’s book writer trying to write a serious dark scene but going so over the top that it sounds funny (but probably isn’t, it’s probably the opposite of funny in a weird and uncomfortable way, I don’t know or care much about wings of fire) is somehow funnier than Velma is just sad! Edit: children on fanfiction websites can write better because Velma s painful, bad fanfiction is just boring and the writer probably cared about it at least a little, a fanfiction author who doesn’t care could’ve written a better show!
One of the best examples of meta humor comes from a lot of the older parody movies like Spaceballs airplane naked gun scary movie 1 and 2 that type of stuff is good meta humor
Hello no it does not deserve a damn thing. Only reason it is getting a second season is cause of the hate and cause Mindy was lucky that WB already bought the show for 26 episodes so it had to get another second just so they could get their money back. Personally everyone that worked on this would be fired and this would have never seen the light of day. We lost the Hex Girls TV show for this? This is bullshit. Also love your channel bro.

I feel this show would’ve actually worked if it was based on Mindy Kaling as an outrageous coming of age premise appealing more to her own fan base rather than using a well established and loved franchise just to reel in hate viewers. This has more “potential” as a stand alone show than it does being an extension of a franchise, they’re crazy for not just making a whole new show based on a younger Mindy Kaling-like character imo 😬
Not Shaggy should have gotten a restraining order on Velma after she accuses his father, and got half of his house destroyed. Same with Fred after he gets outta prison after SHE put him there!
Yep, but one "I love you" not even to his face makes Not Shaggy abandon any other relationships and jump bank into simping for Mindy Kal- I mean Velma. Fred has some leeway in how stupid he is, but Not Shaggy has the behaviors of an abuse victim! And then there's Daphne just randomly being a love interest for no other reason than to check a box for what writers think LGBTQ+ representation!
There is a theory I have about this garbage im starting to believe it, I think originally this show was meant to be something else entirely (Not within Scooby Doo) like another adult animated show staring Mindy Kaling as herself or another self-insert (which is everything she does) but the execs figured that wouldn't generate attention so they quickly color swap everything including the characters to match this shit. Or they couldn't find anyone to voice Scooby so that's why he's out. This show is horseshit.

This show is definitely more of a woke satire than respecting the original concept... But it's presented to the world with love and made for today's children, so it must be genuine and good! 🤮
Anyone can make a better show than Velma by taking time and listening to critique, even the actual writers.
That's what make this show so baffling to me. Like the writers must have had blindfolds and earmuffs on while writing it.
@@GIGio_Official Indeed
My series is far better than “Velma”.
@@GIGio_Officialthat’s true
From what I'm seeing, it wasn't hate watching that got the show a second season. HBO payed for 20 episodes up front, and split that order into two seasons. Now that they payed for it, they have to run it.
@@chatnoir3025in the cases of those projects, those were used as a tax write off and as such, they were vaulted and could never be aired. Velma though, was somehow picked to air and as such they are contractually obligated to air both seasons. The real test will be if anything more comes from it
You ask me that's just bad business
@@GIGio_Official Definitely true! The clip is available on YT - Kaling was on Conan O'Brien's talk show discussing it.
It's really funny that Zombie Island and Mystery Incorporated had done a darker and edgier take on Scooby Doo the right way.

I disagree with you. Velma isn't just the worst show ever. It's just the worst...thing ever made.
You may be write. I still Hate Naomi more tho
I believe you, but that practice makes no goddamn sense to me. Personally or business wise.
@@GIGio_Official Yeah I don't get it either.
no Velma doesn't deserve to be the 3rd worst-rated show on HBO, it should be the first worst-rated show.
I will co sign this campaign
I wish more ppl can talk about how Velma is the reflection of a narcissistic Mendy, she made everyone in the show simp for her even though she sucks
The word “Oxygen Thief” applies to Velma’s character.

You left out the part where Daphne is a violent Monster, who, at the beginning of episode one, savagely beat one of her classmates over a disagreement.

Velma: hahahahaha.
The show damn near killed me
I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that a Christmas-themed prequel to the 3D animated movie "Scoob" that was almost done was canceled at the last minute in 2022 by Warner Bros as a tax write-off.
You know what Shaggy loves? Food, huge amount of food.
Norville is a Total Drama Shaggy impersonator.
Season 2 wasn't green lit because of hate watching, season 2 was already Green light before the second episode even aired.
You watched Velma twice?!?
I could barely watch it once
While I will admit, that I like Norvell, I wouldn't watch it again on a bet
2 times on 1.5xs speed is slightly less painful than normal speed
Most likely "season 2" is just the second half of season 1. It's unlikely that hate watching produced enough views to green light the second season.
But still I feel like that would save WB money if they just waited
remember everyone watch literally every single other Scooby-Doo show ever made not this thing that ISN'T part of the franchise
The counsel has spoken.
It definitely doesn't deserve to be to the third lowest rated show, that is giving it far too much credit.
It is a microcosm of weird personal politics and irrational hatred. It is the worst thing to be created by humans, outside of anything that kills whole swathes of them.
if velma is the third lowest rated show then I cant even imagine how bad the first and second one must be
I need to see the second and first lowest to make that judgment. lol
Best analysis 🧐 love it you really nailed every single detail of this awful of a show
thank you so much! I'm really happy you enjoyed the video and hope to see you around for the next
Mindy was the true villian in Velma, killing childhood characters.
SHE, LITERALLY, TWERKS, ON HER, DEAD, CORPSE!!! **several gun shots**
21:20 I just can't but laugh at that sentence.🙂😂😂🙂🥰
In the Candy Man episode Daphine, Olive and GiGi(?) snap their fingers 3 - 4 times next to Velma.
1:34 Don't you mean serialized story structure of Mystery incorporated. The original was episodic.
Its very possible i mixed those two up. Good spot.
You are correct, but the important point is that everyone should watch Mystery Inc because it’s awesome!😊
I just hope this is the last "remake" of our favourite childhood shows, imagine if the media industry decided to remade, Captain Planet, or Ben 10, or Samurai Jack and make it as "WOKE" as possible or worst hire Mindy Kaling to be the writer and self insert herself again.
Mindy Kaling as Velma should've already told use how bad the show would be
About Velma getting a second season, there might be more to this story than we think.
It is. They always planned to make it two seasons - they just used 20 episodes paid in advance to do it.
Yeah, why didn't Fred's mom get rid of the bodies??
Becasue that would require common sense
(Something I'm trying to work on with my jokes)
Also, just wanted to say that your Arrow video last month actually inspired me to dedicate to working out. I've been going strong for a month. So, thank you, take that what you will.
The only people who did a good job were the voice actors( excluding Kaling) and the animators
@@icecreamhero2375 and yet she wants Velma’s brain, which would pretty much do the same thing
@@amethystsavage4018 LOL
Mindy Kailing won a presidential award for her contribution to the arts or whatever other day. That is all.
It has one redeeming quality, one tiny insignificant speck of a quality that makes this show good
It's such hot garbage that it united the entire internet, in agreement that Velma is ... 🎉The worst piece of media ever produced🎉
17:05 This man Norville really fell for the Sakura bullsh** confession.
I ahte this show so much that I actually referred to the main character as "Vermin." Because SHE is not Velma.
Fred being the best character in the main cast is extremely funny
I think what I don’t like about this Velma show is the animation style. It looks more like a mix between a bad anime and BrickleBerry.
There is no doubt in my mind Mindy hates anyone outside of herself and her circle.
For me the idea of Warner Brothers seeing the viewership of the first couple episode and immediately signing another season makes more sense then them not seeing any data and basically giving a show 2 seasons off the rip.
this show deserve to burn in the underworld for all eternity while getting stabbed with pitchforks.
Scrappy-Doo, Scooby-Dum, and Flim-Flam deserve an apology.
It was already slated for a second season before the first episode aired hate watching was very low, in fact it average views after episode was extremely low
Correction: season 2 was already confirmed before the first episode of season 1 dropped
🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I've posted a comment on another video somewhere. Basically, I said that the only good thing to come out of Velma is that it's convinced the audience to give other shows a chance that they previously hadn't. Got more people into watching the older shows again
Please dont let Hazbin Hotel be as bad as Velma
It probably got a second season because it was already made, not because it got hate watched so much. They probably just animated 20 episodes and broke it up into two seasons.

thing about the creative team is some seem like genuinely ok people
I remember a storyboarder who put the show in his bio with pride because he was happy with how much work he did and, as bad as the show was, that he managed to make one of the better aspects
if only the rest of the team had that spunk
It’s just Mindy Kayling in a Velma costume. Mystery Inc was a better mature take on the franchise
I can’t believe there’s a show worse than High Guardian Spice.
That is hilarious. Honestly your right. Id say most fanfiction writers are better than the Velma writers

The second season was already planned before the first season was released
I feel this show would’ve actually worked if it was based on Mindy Kaling as an outrageous coming of age premise appealing more to her own fan base rather than using a well established and loved franchise just to reel in hate viewers. This has more “potential” as a stand alone show than it does being an extension of a franchise, they’re crazy for not just making a whole new show based on a younger Mindy Kaling-like character imo 😬

It feels like they're trying too hard to make Velma (as a character) too much like Rick from Rick and Morty.

There are scenes in the show where someone snapped in front of Velma yet she still has the panic attacks
Velma isn't a Scooby-Doo series. That's really all there is to it.
Please, you're saying this in a pre-bedrock world.
You know the hole goes deeper...
Oh it always goes deeper
That’s why Danny phantom or the fairly oddparents or normal scooby doo and Teen titans works
Btw Danny phantom is my all time favorite show
Who the actual fuck would simp for THIS version of Velma?
I believe this to be true! They pasted the SD/MI brand to a property of completely different characters. It still would have been garbage either way.
Even though I didn't watch it entirely I like watch 5 minutes of it and I feel asleep of it I rather watch paint dry then watch the Velma show like I feel like Scooby and Shaggy were the main character of the Scooby Doo show like they made show funny and fun to watch but when the Velma show was came out I though it was the WORST AND FUCKING SHOW THAT EVER MADE
