I’m amazed about how much water is released when the beaver dam is taken down. There is so very much of it! Thankfully the people have you to help .
Just be glad you don't have the north American beavers. They are worse and they will move entire forests and logs that make everything there look like toothbpicks lol
Whew!!! Alot of water. Good job!!
Thanks!
The beavers called in reinforcements, the ticks, there still got a bounty on your head, remember, your making their life miserable.so there pulling out all the stops to get you to quit or backdown.they are still impressive with what they accomplish in short time.great video as always.stay safe.continue on doing what you do best.great job.take care.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thank you. Tom!
Thanks for making these vids :) watch every one when they come out
That was a good one,..water flowed pretty hard for quite awhile,..stay safe from the ticks and the beavers,..good job,..
yes we have ticks here in S.C. as well lots of them
I liked how you gave the dam time to dismantle itself. 👍 Nice one!
About the ticks, we have the same situation on the other side of the Baltic Sea (Sweden). Please folks, get vaccinated and be careful!
A work colleague has a brother who caught Lyme disease and it seriously changed his life. It was forever before he was diagnosed and without that treatment and insurance was a real pain. He had to stop working and he was sick a lot of the time. We live in Alberta Canada so we have ticks here too. Cinch your pant legs and cuffs. Check yourself over if you’re out walking. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Dam, it's so serious disease... I didn't know this.
Lots of Ticks here in the states also in wooded and Grassy areas in the south states we also have chiggers in grassy areas that will make you itch like crazy ,Summer time pests as well as the flying insects ,Their must he a huge colony of beavers living in that canal ,in a few days it will look like you were never there
Interesting comments on first of the video. Dam removed let a lot of water out. Thanks for sharing, good job!
I will check it afterwards :)
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Drag a white sheet thru the brush to see how many ticks are around. I learned this from working in the Forest Service at Lolo Hot Springs country.
How does that work?
@@NiceLoki Greetings from the BIG SKY. Drag a white sheet on the bushes and find out.
@@rogerdudra178 we don't really have ticks here in England. Plus it's 21:50 at night so... no thanks.
@@NiceLoki Greetings from the BIG SKY. Thank the Lords if Cobol that ticks have forsaken your lands.
We have ticks in the states, some cause Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick fever. Not at all pleasant.
The first thing I do is give you a thumbs up, and then I watch the video. Because I know the content is going to be excellent.
Thank you very much!
Love watching your channel so relaxing 😊
You are welcome! :)
Ticks also live in the BIG SKY regrettably, I think our planet is their place to live. Dragging a white sheet thru the bushes does work to show the density of ticks.
A fantastic dismantling this day. Excellent water flow. Enjoy your weekend, Mantas. Hopefully see you on the next. 🇱🇹🙂👍🇺🇸
Thank you!
Another great dam removal . Good work
you have 2 out of 3 of the things that humans can watch without getting tired.
ikr? if he now could add fire to the mix and he had the trifecta :D
Haha :D :))
Great information and fun to watch! Very rewarding when the dam collapses. Be safe!
Thank you!
😎😎😎. You look handsome with your new sunglasses!
👀🤭😀
Thank-you for a great video Mantas, I love seeing the lush greens of early summer. A lot of water flowing, you did a great job. 😊💫
Lots of water. Good vid. Thanks!
Thank you for talking ng me along. Thank you for doing this. I servid enchilada when I was seven.
Great camera placement on both
Thanks again sir, for your hard work including the editing and presentation. If you ever feel as though you had the time or the inclination, a time-lapse of “downstream” before, during and after a dam release, would make very interesting viewing. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍🥇🏆💯
Nice job !!
Another awesome job 👏 ❤
Very enjoyable video!
Hey you have a tick on your hoodie!
You can treat your clothes and they last several washes. Really helps. Just careful as some can be bad for certain types of waders
Great video. Thanks for your hard work
Thanks!
Love what you are doing. I am in Nova Scotia, Canada and we have ticks. Nasty things. I get a couple or three on me almost daily because I walk my dog on roads through the woods. The dog has tick protection and this year has tested negative for Lyme. I try to protect myself but it's usually to no avail. They find a spot to get through it.
My daughter got 1 yesterday :(
Thank you.
Good job 👏!
Well I'm all itchy now! lol
Check under the pants maybe there are tick ? :D
@@Kenislovas I hope not lol
We have all sorts of ticks here in Australia. If we do not regularly treat our dogs for ticks, flees and heart worm, our dogs die.
Beavers will reuse materials for dams but not for the lodges as the lodge is the winter food store. I guess that almost as much of a problem as the flooding, is the channels that the beavers cut into the fields as they head out to food stands and trees.
As long as the water get drained down it’s all good !!
Yes sir, there are tics in most places. Where there are woods and such. I've had tics in places I can mention on RUclips lol. I am from North Carolina USA.
Yes we have ticks here in Ontario Canada. They are plenty this year.
Those beavers are busy as hell.. You definitely need a digger to clear a wider channel.
It's almost doesn't matter the width..
Nice video!
Everybody take a moment to itch!
Nice video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks
Thank you very much!
Many Happy returns of the day to you 🎂. A Taurus just. 😁 Have you ever wondered how many thousands of gallons of water you release each time ?? Would be interesting to know !? 😁🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Not sure.. It's hard to count.. 🤷♂️😄
Ticks are bad in Michigan USA, love the videos I've watched all of them so far.
Thank you very much!
It's so absolutely fascinating to see the whole thing begin to shift, ever so slight, yet stop before complete collapse? How are these things made to where a moving object can stop itself, essentially, and the pressure the water must be exerting. So cool!!
Structure and pressure :) Thanks! :)
When he starts his videos with his "Hey, Hey!" I want to respond with "Ho, Ho. Beaver dam has got to go."
😀
Looks like the beavers did a better engineering job on that dam
Love your podcast😅
Podcast :D 😊
I think the big thing about removing the whole dam is preventing trees and roots from establishing and makingn it harder to remove the dams.
Nice video.
Mantas, do you think it might be possible to ‘leave’ a camera behind (with a BIG powerbank) to do a timelapse os beavers rebuilding the dam? I would be very curious to see how they do it.
That pond did not drain very well. Have you checked for any dams downstream or is the river running high?
There was many green things downstream..
Ticks scare the crap out of me
Tennessee has the same tick issues. Their seems to be many this year. My Mom is in Connecticut and has gotten ill from one that missed her detection until it had been on her for 24 .hours.
Some videos are scary. I hope i would never see a collapse approaching from the camera vieuwing point witch you can't see from your vieuwing point in front of the dam🤞🤗!
Have you explained to the new subscribers the story behind your hay fork? Which has served you well by the way. How many times have you added or changed the patterns? ❤
It's a potato rake.
@@NiceLoki yes thank you I had forgotten. 😃
@@srqlisa7881 most welcome 👍
another fairly easy removal
😎 video .
If you can get Permethrin in your country ,get some ,treat the clothes you want to wear on your outdoors activities . Hang clothes overnight outside to dry , the ticks will not survive long enough to bite you. This will last many weeks even if you wash them.
The beavers have to chew for those teeth, but it's also their source of food. That is probably why they prefer living trees and branches.
Yeah!
Mantas great video, did you stop using your shovel for a reason??. Watch out for the ticks, I know you can get really sick from them if you are not careful. David B.,Utah, USA. 💖💖❤❤❤.
Hi!
Here I didn't need a shovel :)
Thanks mate!
THE BEAVERS ARE RELENTLESS!!!
Here in Ottawa, Canada, 10 years ago we didn't have to worry about ticks in our area. Now, we have to wear long pants and/or use a spray to protect ourselves from Ticks. Something else a person, doing what you do in your videos, has to be aware of is that in many of our lakes and ponds, one can 'catch' something called “Beaver fever.” That's the common name for giardiasis (Giardia).
In Canada, we also have an insect called a "Black Fly." It is a flying insect. It's only about 2mm in length. It's silent. It bites, and in doing this, it causes a tiny little bleed. When Europeans come over and are bitten for the first time they sometimes swell up significantly (a 'blister which is at least half the size of your hand). It's usually not a concern and the swelling will disappear in a few days.
In areas of our country where there are many still (No or minimal current) lakes, ponds, ... a person (and many animals) has to protect themself from both the mosquitos and black flies; not to mention, the Deer Flies, Horse Flies, Hornets, ...!! In Northern Ontario, as in many remote areas, horses must be kept indoors during the worst of it (Usually August) or they will actually go crazy!!!
Though beavers don't reuse branches/sticks, muskrats will, even though their incisors, like all rodents, also keep growing. Many rodents grind their incisors against their bottom teeth to control the length.
Muskrats have been known to work along with beavers building a dam; however, muskrats don't build their own dams, though they will block a small culvert.
What about beavers' orange-coloured teeth?
We also have many other insects which attacks animals also humans. This is the reason I am always with hoodie in my videos :)
Orange coloured teeths I think gets pigment from trees that's why ?
In New Zealand I know we have mites which make dogs itchy - probably have ticks but I've never seen any (rubbing myself on a wooden table - touch wood). Love your video's who knew I was gonna end up watching a guy from the otherside of the world remove beaver dams...ps. we don't have beavers in NZ either
There are many those who are telling "who knew" :DD I think it's additive a bit :)
There’s tics in the US too
Coconut oil is very effective against ticks
Do you have the ability to capture the beavers' rebuilding a damm you removed?
I have video where they are rebuilding the dam :)
encephalitis = iN-say-fi-lie-tis Glad you are tick-aware. 👍👏🥰❤
Do you know about sulfur powder? You put some in a sock and dust around the openings in your clothing. It stops the ticks at the sulfur barrier!
Noo! Thank you! I will think about it! Thank you!
Get yourself some sticky lint rollers, designed to get fluff and hair off of clothing. I have dogs and before getting in the car I roll the sticky roller over my clothes and my dogs. It picks off the ticks and they are easy to dispose of.
Yes we have paralysis ticks down under
💪🏻👊🏻
so the lesson is... only if you use an excavator, you don't need to return after 2 weeks? but yeah... an excavator cannot get everywhere 😞
Sometimes is enough to remove it by hands. Also every time dam is different.
We have plenty of ticks in USA...they get worse every year. I got Lyme disease when I had my own landscaping company. There are other, more deadly diseases that come from the ticks. Those diseases are getting more common, too.
I hate those insects... It's something terrible when somebody is sucking your blood...
You can treat your clothes with permethrin. It lasts 2-3 washings. Just make sure you let it dry before wearing the clothes. Not sure about the waders. Might not cling to that.
Ohh! I didn't know about it! And I think ticks can't climb on the waders. I've never seen ticks on my waders :)
Yes we have a lot of ticks here in the Southwest of the USA and they cause a lot of sickness in people and animals
Thanks!
If you can't use Deet or Permethrin get double sided tape ,pull your socks up over your pants cuffs ,wrap about a six inch area around where your socks and pants meet. The ticks should stick to the tape, this will not stop them from getting on you hire upso you must check when you're back at the car.
Thank you! :)
My granddaughter got encephalitis when she was four months old from a mosquito bite. She had surgery to help with the seizures, but the surgery messed her up. She no longer knows me. Nor can she talk. 😢
So sad.. Sorry... 😔
@@Kenislovas thank you
I am just trying to recover from lyme disease with nerve damage. The symptoms appeared many months after being bitten by a tick. The fourth doctor I visited had seen this once in 35 years. A had to take a quadruple doses of broad spectra antibiotics. The tick bit me on the back of the knee. I removed it. Nothing happened then. Four months later a solid circle appeared on the back of the knee. The circle then transformed to a ring that went bigger and bigger. I got nerve pain from the ankle to the groin. I also lost the feeling on the skin around the knee. The antibiotics have removed the nerve pain but the loss of feeling is still there. As I learned this is a rare condition. It can appear many years after the bite. It can affekt the brain, the heart and also cause loss of feeling in hands and feet.
Sorry.. I didn't know so bad things could happen from Lyme disease...
Wish you fast recovery and synthoms not come back.
They will be back.
You too! :D
I live in a tick risk area and have been vaccinated against - in Germany - FSME
Our all country is in tick risk :)
Do you ever run into any snakes out there? What kind do you have?
Nope. We have only 1 poisonous species, Vipera berus
tThem ticks are no fun, be careful my friend, don't want to hear you are ill
I will! Thanks!
It didnt drain half a meter....look at the dam, it was 1 foot above the water....so like 1/4 a meter.
Hi,
Maybe from camera view it doesn't look so.
@@Kenislovas Tape measure in your toolkit now! You should have a few at home.
wow, this one was stubborn, eh?
looked like it wanted to roll over for some belly scratches for a long time

I do not understand why there is a need or desire to drain and lower water level? What beavers accomplish benefits ecology on nearly every level and should be encouraged not torn down when possible! If there is a specific conflict from retained / higher water, that should be explained and dealt with in the least invasive ways possible to both promote healthy ecology and also to allow these amazingly beneficial “natures ecosystem engineers” to provide the habitats and other benefits their work ensures, and to allow their continued existence without constant harassment or worse!
We have overpopulation in our country. We don't need dams in the harvesting fields.
This is kurwa bober dam?
Yesss
Solo in Inghilterra usano le tue misure. In Europa no.
I also mentioned European ones.
Your logistic skills continue to be demonstrated on your beaver dam disassembly. Maybe, just maybe, on the wide and tall dams request the assistance of an excavator.
Thank You! 😊
You seem to be creating circular problems for yourself and the landowners by failing to eliminate the beavers...
How do you know I’m failing?
You really need to actually work at clearing the damn while the water is flowing otherwise you just leave everything in the same place so none of the debris gets cleared. Almost like you want to come back every other week to do a halfassed job again.
Sometimes it's dangerous to step in water when it flows strongly.
There is a illness called Alpha Gal abbreviated, that causes red meat allergy and the Lone Star tick is a carrier here in the US
Yes, I heard about it, but here in Europe.
Wow that's only two weeks? I remember that spot. The thing you didn't mention about the beavers is that most of those sticks you took off this time had the bark chewed off because that's what they eat. When they're done eating they just add the stick to the dam. Pretty efficient aren't they?
Sometimes yes and sometimes not. I've seen different scenarios :)
