Been in my toolbox with no blade for probably 3 years. I knew someone would have a video to help me figure it out. It almost made it into the trash a few times. Thanks.
@@CatusMaximus You are an EXCELLENT Teacher, Never could remove my blade, never knew it locked up to preventing the blade from removing. THANK YOU SOOOOOoooooo...MUCH!!!
Thank you for posting this! I have a similar model of irwin knife that I bought over a year ago and could not figure out how to change the blade....was getting pretty frustrated. You solved the mystery....thanks!!!
Thank you...I finally got it closed.....with no strength needed only the ability to follow instructions. BTW, it does not change how I feel towards the kindness of some of my neighbors. KEN, Was especially giving of himself with kindness... He is a warm person and enjoys helping others in need. Hoping he never stops....I never want to lose his friendship.
Thank you so much for this vid. I have an identical Irwin model except without the blade storage feature. Anyway I could not figure out how to change the blade and never would have save for your video! A bonus is your excellent cat making an appearance, for I am a cat-lover beyond all reason and one of mine was trying to assist me with this blade-change operation! Again, thanks so much.
So Catus ole boy......did i hear you say you took something apart that you could not put back together????? hmmmmm?? i wish i had a dollar for everything i have done that to!!! Great video as usual buddy !! Thank you
After 20 minutes I had to Google around too. It even says to tilt to 45 degrees (all symbols though) but I saw the button and kept trying to jam it in. If you put a light inside, it seems like it is clear to go in while pressing the button and not at 45 degrees.
Unfortunately, the stuck liner lock is probably a quality control issue, because I have the Lenox variant and it's never done that to me. Good knife, but I'd say my current favorite is HF's Doyle model.
I have a number of these folding utility knives and the blades never fall out on me but I do appreciate the engineering thought that went into this. It's clever. However like a lot of the innovative ideas, the implementation is the key. That liner lock would be frustrating to me. A utility knife is supposed to be quick to deploy and retract. That's why depending on what I'm doing, I like the simple sliding knives even though that are a bit loose.
Irwin drill bits for my old braces are a win. They are auger bits. The new stuff from Irwin is typically cheaply made crap. They made SO to commission a different company to make theirs.

Glad I could help!

You are super lucky.
Thank you for showing how the blade change mechanism works…I was pulling my hair out, lol.
Thank you so much for this! I couldn’t figure out how to get the knife to fold until I watched your video!
Lenox has a version of this knife as well. Good video!

Thanks for the video. I never knew it had to be folded in to use the release button.
It is kind of a weird design, isn’t it?

Mine has a screw driver inside the handle.
I couldn’t figure out how to change my blade either. Thanks!
What was that tool you used to open the package?
Haha… 2 senior professional carpenters spent 20 minutes trying to remove the blade the blade today.. 😂

I like the locking mechanism.

You want lifetime warranty on the blades? Was that a joke?
Sarcasm

It looks good but nothing commits a tool to dust more than being more pleasant to use than another similar tool.
Helpful video , thank you.
I'll have to check out these bimetal blades. I'll stick with my Stanley 99, though.
Very Helpful. Thanks!
Isn't it amazing how you can change the world with a simple box cutter knife?
👍

Husky has a nice version of this.
😢My Irwin doesn't have that feature and I CANNOT!!!!! push said button.😭
It is Chirwin China stuff
Too much going on with this tool. The simple ones are still my choice.
😮
Thanks bro I was gonna make a complaint 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I'll stick with Kobalt and Milwaukee.
