Ellen has addressed this, and I don't believe she or her studio would address the issue if it was true; they would avoid it like the plague. She's obviously real, there's no reason for her to be fake. And even if she was, what's the point of talking about it? She makes us laugh, and that's what matters.

I never thought about Gladys being fake until other people always over think and analyze thingsand ruin the fun for others..but now i wonder to because even if she didnt want to come and fly to the show being in her 80s why wouldnt Ellen send Jeannie with a camera crew like she does with all the other fans..

The other fans who received visits needed to sign letters of consent before the camera crew start doing their thing.
It's Scott. A professional voice actor, which he is, studies his subject to get the nuances of how that person would sound. His real grandmother was named Gladys, so he probably modeled a lot of his voice after her and the other older Texas women who live around Travis & Bastrop counties. He nails the dry wit of many of those southern ladies. I'm from that area, so I'm familiar with that. It's Scott and he's doing a great job with it. Funny guy.

I work at a call center and talk to people in their 80s and 90s every single day and a lot of them have even more youthful sounding voice then Gladys so your theory is actually not correct
