Amazing podcast! Love the Black Keys, I think "Rubber Factory" and "Thickfreakness" are some of the best albums ever created. Such a raw and powerful sound. Dan should be a regular JRE guest and Pat needs to come too, he always has this really dry sense of humor in interviews.
+vinylcloset this this this this so much fucking THIS...........Although... somehow i feel like Dave Chappelle might not be very interested, don't you think Joe Would have invited one of his favorite comedians of all time that he sees many times a year by damn near 800 episodes?
+Wyatt Martin Regardless of substance the creativity and artistic process bring them together. Typically weed separates strangers and make things weird and awkward. But if you watch it again, you'll see it's just two dudes that respect each others work.
I discovered The Black Keys in 2006 when they were on the Black Snake Moan soundtrack and they ended up being a way for me to connect with my kids who were then in grade school. My sons became musicians because of them. No one I've seen in concert more. Took my son at 14 to see Dan when he was on tour with solo album. Saw them once at NASA and Dan greeted the audience "Hello space people." Many great memories with these guys and White Stripes as the back ground music. My son died in 2016 but I feel him with me whenever I listen to the music we loved.
That dude doesn’t do any press- he did the nerdist podcast, though. He also did Dean Delray’s podcast. But let’s be real- Josh Homme does not like Joe Rogan.
Big fan of rogan, bigger fan of Auerbach, best podcast yet, most genuine convo I've seen, big up black keys 🔑 much love from England! Plus I've got decent teeth
I listened to half of this podcast driving and when I got to the coffee shop to start watching on youtube I was very surprised to see who Joe was talking to. His voice sounds so much different when youre not looking at him talk. Metered, relaxed, smooth. But then when you see him it looks like he is stressed, anxious, tired
Martin Anthonyo I’m not sure honestly. I just remember hearing that they had serious beef because Jack claimed that Dan and Pat were stealing his material. Which I don’t really think they did, but whatever, idk maybe I’m wrong though.
Martin Anthonyo that’s cool, honestly he damn well should. He was being kind of wack for no reason imo. They could have collaborated or done shit together to try and promote modern blues considering the genre isn’t as up and coming in the mainstream as the blues of old. Starting beef like that was almost kind of childish from my perspective, lol like this isn’t a gangsta rap feud and i don’t think Dan stole his material. He seemed more or less butt hurt by the attention the keys were getting. Idk though maybe it was just a publicity stunt or something.
When Joe says country is experiencing a resurgence at 45:13 Dan's face is PRICELESS! You can tell he's actually disgusted with the country music scene. Kinda like how he mentioned his Nashville music friends being embarrassed to tell him what artists they have been playing with. Love Dan, no shit kinda dude.
This has to be one of the most genuine and real conversations with someone I've seen on this podcast. Dan seems very thoughtful and answers honestly like there wasn't going to be millions of people listening to this.
Just saw Dan in Austin a few months ago. Coolest musician. He was so determined to get all the other musicians known. He wasn't trying to be the focal point. So damn humble.
holy fuck man, the feeling just sitting here listening to Dan Auerbach talk about singing at his grand mothers funeral... un fucking real man, I was almost about to tear up just listening to it.
Man, huge fan of the keys. That part where Dan starts talking about going in to the studio should get all fans excited. Best answer from an artist you like. 19:40
Thought this was a great podcast. It can be validating when you hear of someone so commited to their passion. Life gets in the way sometimes but as long as you keep what makes you happy close by, you'll be alright.
Dan is at the same time down to earth but also really knowledgeable enough to be heard in a way that joe Rogan can listen and formulate different ideas/opinions
I'm a native Minneapolitan and am lucky enough to work across the street from 1st Ave. The day Prince died a line had formed outside of 1st Ave by 12pm, only 2 hours after his death was announced. For us, he was a local guy who was amazingly talented and world famous while always calling Minnesota home. That meat a lot here, especially in light of Bob Dylan's feelings about his home state.
Im just here to find out what part of this podcast people couldnt make it past. I think its really important that people share that info...Its fucking amazing.
+M Arsenault right when Dan started complaining about money, Streaming blah blah blah blah, they made their choice. and.... RUclips operates borderline in the red, the cost of operating data centers is astronomical, everyone always assumes that youtube is greedy but they are not, they have massive operating costs.
Agreed - I believe that both artists have so much more in common than they think.. Would be such an interesting mix... I mean, just think about Jack and Dan on interchangeable vocals and guitars - Pat on the drums - and Jack's friend from Detroit on the bass! That would be an awesome Blues Power Group!
Comparing the price of buying a song on iTunes vs a single play on Spotify isn't much of a comparison at all. That's comparing one play versus a lifetime of plays. If you'd like to get a cut of $1 of each time your song is played on an internet stream, it would make the whole concept cost-prohibitive. Music isn't as valuable as it once was. So many people can make good music and the culture just doesn't care about single songs, artists or albums as much as they once have. Times are changing. Dan is still a multi-millionaire doing what he loves to do. He should take some comfort in that. Also, he has no idea of the financial aspect of it in any respect, as he said himself. He's just being greedy. Not all of us can be in an industry where some bit of work we did in the past pays income for the rest of our lives. That is a pretty sweet gig. The average musician makes something in the $30k range a year while the average actor makes something in the $40k per year. These guys, Joe and his guests are the 0.01% that happen to have gotten wealthy off of it.
+Matticus Barticus When successful artists start complaining about not making enough money it makes me want to hate everything they do. Like you won the lottery. Shut the fuck up.
I am liking Joe Rogan more and more - such an insightful and informative pod cast! I Love Dan Auerbach and it was pretty bad ass to see what he thought about a lot of things and to hear both of them touch on humor, music, and just normal shit that no one likes to talk about anymore.
I respect you Dan. You have always been undeniably my biggest influence on music ever man. I discovered Junior Kimbrough from you, Mariacha music from the show you did with the Arcs in Norfolk and every related video to you. Thank you.
I completely agree with Joe,@1:20. As a big Dan Auerbach fan, this is absolutely inspirational to hear and I am starting a new project today bc of this!

Dude found the right way for himself to live.
One of my favorite episodes of JRE. Dan Auerbach is such a no-nonsense, good guest. (and the Black Keys, The Arcs and his solo album are great)
Ohio people, man. We're as real as they get.

Your wish has been granted! 😁
Listen to captain beefheart safe as milk to hear there major influence
Holy shit you called it Pat really is hilarious you know what you were talking about
Rubber Factory would be a great album name even if it wasn't actually recorded in an actual tire factory.
Get Joe Rogan back on the podcast, he's great.
***** You mean this isn't the Brian Redban podcast?
GET DAVE CHAPPELLE ON JOE... PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN
That would be fucking awesome.
That would be fucking awesome.
Good one!

+vinylcloset this this this this so much fucking THIS...........Although...
somehow i feel like Dave Chappelle might not be very interested, don't you think Joe Would have invited one of his favorite comedians of all time that he sees many times a year by damn near 800 episodes?
+1
Dan and Joe share a real mutual respect.
I feel like they were on a good vibe and had a dynamic conversation.
Good times.
It's cause they were baked
+Wyatt Martin Regardless of substance the creativity and artistic process bring them together. Typically weed separates strangers and make things weird and awkward. But if you watch it again, you'll see it's just two dudes that respect each others work.
+Deandre Skywalker I can appreciate that. I was really just making a joke
You need to get Jesus on the podcast.
definitely, been out grinding. so overlooked.
Yeah his work ethic is crazy
He only returns once a year tho
+I DON'T GIVE A F*CK ABOUT THE BELT ... DUDE, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!
That's the dumbest comment I've ever read.
As a musician this is inspiring to watch. Get Kid Cudi back on the Podcast!
I want to see Lupe Fiasco & him discuss philosophy
+gurinderjitmusictv as a failure at life I find this a great way to forget my sorrow for almost 2 hours

My new favorite JRE interview. Dan really opens up, he's a smart dude.
when Dan mentioned Bill Hicks I became even more of a fan
A video series of Joe calling animal fights could be the biggest thing on the internet.
this was such a good podcast low energy but gold
Dan Aurbach is the man! Rubber Factory is the best blues album ever!
you should get josh homme on, you guys would have a great discussion no matter what the subject.
+SpiRos Ontic a fucking men brother
Please please pleeeeeease. My all time favourite artist!!!!
That dude doesn’t do any press- he did the nerdist podcast, though. He also did Dean Delray’s podcast. But let’s be real- Josh Homme does not like Joe Rogan.
@@PMurray2694 he doesn't like stoners
Ask the mighty Rogan and ye shall receive
Not even a minute in, and the look on Dan's face when he replies "we're on bus" 😆
Arguably the best Rock n Roll band of modern times. Black keys are on another level that is still unappreciated!!!
The Arcs were hands down one of my favorite performances at coachella this year. fucking amazing show!
what a great record that was.
I could listen to 6 more hours of this
what is this....an interview for ants! It needs to be at least..........3 times bigger!
Ben Hammerclaw nice zoo lander reference
Brilliant interview. Dan has a lot of soul.
Oh...great to find this after seeing the latest Black Keys episode...
Jeff Richards sane just right now lol 😂
Dan "ya know?" Auerbach
+Maury Sall Lmaoooo
Pat is the exact same way, haha.
If you were stoned and ina conversation.
like John Lennon :D
this was a great podcast, Dan was a great guest. the conversation was interesting on both sides
You know Dan Auerbach is a frequent JRE listener when he says "how dare you" at 1:05:24.
It’s probably easier said than done, but Dan Auerbach should be a regular on this podcast
Big fan of rogan, bigger fan of Auerbach, best podcast yet, most genuine convo I've seen, big up black keys 🔑 much love from England! Plus I've got decent teeth
amazing he mentioned Mississippi Fred McDowell.....i listen to him all the time.....great emotional scratchy blues.....just amazing.
Same thing happened to me. I enjoyed it more before I saw him on video.
+Garrett Johnsen (Temecula iPhone Repair) Not that it's a bad podcast, just enjoyed it more prior.
Rogan just got one of the best modern artists on, and ya'll mu'fokah be goin "More Duncan Trussell."
duncan is one of the most advanced minds of our time.
+Max T everybody likes duncan but thats not the point
+Whackashit Collaborations True, Walker Wheeler Jr. deserves more respect.

+Death Booker You know what I'm saying?! No the hell we don't! Never had a job before in my life.
It's like those people who stop many times mid-conversation to ask "Does that make sense?"
I love Pat and Dan. I'm from Akron as well and I love that place. It really is magical
jasonkemper Youngstown here!

Nope. What do you mean?

Why isn't the other black key there?
This is certainly one of the most memorable JRE podcasts to date. What an interesting person Dan Auerbach is.
Only 320k...interesting. This feels like yesterday. The black keys episode just came out 9/2019 it's almost 2m after a week.
Probably due to JRE's fanbase growing VERY fast.
This may be one of the best Interviews ever on the JRE!
Watching now!! I love The Black Keys!
I just saw Dan and The Arcs last week at The Fillmore in San Francisco, they were amazing!
I gotta stop reading the comments before I watch the interviews, fucks it up for me....do you know what I mean?
YES i do lol
lol omg lol!!
The magic of Muscle Shoals was described on a Netflix show...very cool.
dan is a great guy. very down to our beautiful green and blue marble.
Loved it! Could not believe Dan Auerbach was talking boxing.
Get Mike Patton on.
Hell yes to this!!

Jack White would smoke him, Dan is too timid.
I like the idea about how places that have memories. You should watch an old BBC drama called The Stone Tape if you're into that.
only 226k views? wtf.
lol "look at that hip toss" i lost my shit.
Joe must have been giddy about this one
I just found this podcast. So grateful to listen in

joe rogan I love how you change your tone kinda based on your guest I think this is the quietest I've heard you . you're the best man
