Forza won it's Innovation in Accessibility award because it made the game playable for blind gamers, which is a FEAT.
It did great work, Street Fighter 6 did the same and worked so well a blind man won a tournament match on stream at EVO
I'm so happy Baldur's Gate 3 is getting all the love it deserves. It's nice to have a company that really has love for it's story and can raise the bar higher for what games can be.
My mom actually had the funniest reaction to the Alan Wake dancing. She walked past, a basket full of laundry in her arms, stopped dead in her tracks and just went "Oompah Loompahs" My brother and I died.
You know the Game Awards was a good one when Hi fi Rush won a award, Gonzo showed up, them revealing Cid and Vincent’s face in FF7R, Story DLC for FF16, & the legendary gigachad flute guy
I should note that you may have technically gotten a bingo. In the Metaphor trailer, it mentions that the concept artist worked on Nier Automata, so there’s an argument for crossing off Nier

Yes! Please play Alan Wake 1 and 2 (and Control if you haven't since they have some crossover). I feel like the wacky story would be right up your alley. Remedy games in general are something to be cherished.

@@christopherazzato7680 I can easily see how depending on peoples taste in games it absolutely could be an "eh" experience. I will admit the core gameplay isn't the best in the world, but the self aware narrative and the heart put into the game is where it shines, but its totally okay if thats not your cup of tea. Not everything is made for everyone.

Sam Lake is seriously having the time of his life with Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 is my personal GOTY 2023. I absolutely loved Zelda Totk, BG3, RE4, AC6, and Dead Space remake, but AW2 hit differently. Being a huge fan of Remedy for almost 20 years now, waited for AW sequel for more than a decade, and they dudnt dissapoint. Sam Lake and the team are pushing the boundaries of narrative in AAA-games.
I was happy with this year's TGA, amazing new game trailers and the Baldur's Sweep was insane. My mom actually watched TGA just to see Timothee Chalamet, and now she told me she's gonna buy me Baldur's Gate 3 for Christmas lol

Going from really nice strikers music to suddenly terror piano legit made me jump for a second there
Honestly Alan Wake II deserved all the awards they got. The game was not only memorable but interesting, and especially strong in its direction and narrative.
Just take as an example: Herald of Darkness, the song that was played at the awards, is from a segment in the game called "We Sing". The segment is not just a musical video that you sit and watch, but interactive from the start to the end. You can walk around freely, and the music and visuals is directed in such a way that it will loop and match between every set piece.
It was SO HARD to pull off that they nearly scrapped it. That's an insane amount of effort in direction.
Obviously, narrative is a similar story - the way the two protagonists' stories are weaved together, the expansion upon Alan's story, etc. It was a strong, tightly written game that never paused for a moment and felt great all the way through. It is no wonder that it won best direction and narrative.
I love watching Crystal's streams and whatnot but hearing her and the majority of chat just be absolutely dismissive of and trashing AW2 these past two weeks has been a tad annoying :/
Especially all the claims of recency bias when stuff like Mario Wonder was also present in some of the same categories, and won an award too.
I was actually hoping for a sneaky AW2 GOTY upset myself as it was one of my top 2023 picks, but I know that was never going to happen this year 😁

@@stoibajee Haha I getcha as far as the sneaky AW2 GOTY was but I knew it was unrealistic. I think it won in the categories that mattered to Sam, Kyle and the team and that's what I choose to take away from it.
And yes I agree with you that it's frustrating - I'm not a prolific youtube commenter, but I felt the need to point it out in this case because I think it's unfair to judge the game as overhyped based on recency bias when the person in question haven't played it.
If you played AW2 and that was still your opinion - fair game, you're entitled to feel that way, but I feel like acting dismissive because FFXVI or some other game is "better" to you because you didn't play AW2 is highly dismissive and honestly a little frustrating.
@@LuneEvenfall On the other hand though, I feel like a lot of the reason so many of us loved AW2 was because it felt like a magnum opus culmination of Remedy/Sam Lake's works, with all the references and meta commentary/cameos.
Without the familiarity and context of 20 years worth of Max Payne/Alan Wake 1/Control and even a little Quantum Break under one's belt, I'm not sure someone new would get the nuances and same level of enjoyment if they just wanted to play AW2 in a vacuum to 'see what the hype is about' and would likely not appreciate it as much as a result. :/
Interestingly I've not seen any reviews or opinions from fresh players, and it's mostly all from us returning fans. 🤔
@@stoibajee Well wouldn't you be in luck! It just so happens that I am making this argument while being a completely fresh player to the Remedyverse. Sure, I was introduced afterwards, but this game was a terrific experience and I loved it all the same even without knowing much about the other games (except for maybe the fact that they existed)
Of course I became invested afterwards but my initial interest was as a person who had zero idea what was going on haha.

You'd absolutely love the Mihoyo game stories and characters, some of the stories made me cry harder than even Endwalker, but it's also perfectly understandable why some people can't look past the gacha. The developers put a lot of love into their games which is why so many people get attached, but even if the gacha doesn't get in the way of gameplay it's still a predatory mechanic that continues taking advantage of people's lack of self control and addictions :/
Exactly this, I really wish their games weren't gacha. It's the only thing that's truly holding Hoyo back, to be honest.

@@jampinjax9194 honestly hard to say since she loves both turn-based RPGs and the Zelda open worlds, but I think that it's easier for someone to enjoy Genshin without interacting with the gacha than HSR. The lack of characters can limit the fun in building team comps for combat in both games, but even if you disregard the combat in Genshin you still have the whole exploration aspect to enjoy. But then HSR's story starts out much stronger whereas Genshin takes a good bit to pick up.
@@Asmodelta forgot about the whole team comp stuff. But yeah, I still with agree with you. Team building is a lot harder in HSR, you can still play it but you're missing half the fun of the game.
It has been proved that you can get through GI with just the starter team, so I guess she could go F2P easily.

40:10 Love the practical T-60 Power Armour. I do hope we see the T-51 Power Armour, iconic to the Fallout series first appearing as the box cover for the original Fallout (1997) so it would be a shame if we only see the T-60 series, only introduced in Fallout 4 so it's pretty new.
Alan wake story is very odd horror. Like people being cryptic and saying stuff that’s unnerving rather than like body horror or slasher horror. This lets it be much goofier at times which is where we get stuff like the musical number that’s just as cheesy in the game
Oh I NEED some announcer to do something with the idea at 4:10 it just sounds hilarious to say "Hi, I am no longer Announcer Speaker, I am now Presenter Speaker due to legal complications" or something ridiculous and for them just to have a slight bit of background lore going on after every break at the ceremony that results in their name being changed it sounds great
Man the Honkai Starrail announcement was actually my favorite one lol. I've been playing it for a few months now and it's been a ton of fun but not wanting to play because of the predatory gambling is completely understandable and also respectable. The other announcements like Pony Island and Re Fantazio were awesome too and that theme song for Rebirth was just beautiful.
The song's Aerith it's sooo beautiful and emotional 😭❤️

You don’t have to spend any money at all on Genshin or Star Rail. There really isn’t anything gated behind Gacha. And the amount of content and amazing art and music is incredible. It’s the only Gacha I actually want to give a few bucks every few months because I’ve gotten so much out of it. Genshin that is
the music medley of the game award contenders is probably my favorite part of the game awards, loved last year's so much with the xenoblade 3's music being apart of it (somewhat biased idc lmao, + flute guy)
BG3 totally deserved all the awards they got! I honestly felt most of the awards were valid too. The only one that felt weird was Cyberpunk getting ongoing service or whatever the category is called, but I can't say for sure given I haven't played it. I also enjoyed some of the trailers shown off!

I think you would enjoy, if not genuinely like, most of the games in the "Games for Impact" category
I havent played all of them - Terra Nil for example - but the ones I have played, like A Space for the Unbound, were genuinely very enjoyable and/or hit feels from Start to Finish.
I understand fully if you dont have the time in your schedule for them, but I do hope you at least get to try out those games at some point, even if it is off stream, especially A Space for the Unbound. I can highly recommend them, they're a great time.
Rogue Trader is newcomer friendly for entering both CRPG genre (like Baldur's Gate 3) and the Warhammer 40k universe!

I'm glad BG3 is getting love, I absolutely love it but when it comes to "Larian teaching studios a lesson" like. Y'all know Larian is bigger than Bioware right? Spending five years with the first third of the game in early access probably doesn't hurt either.
I feel like Metaphor is just Atlus realizing, "JRPG is how you started from finding a cat and ended with fighting a god", basically the common concenception to fantasy JRPG like final fantasy.

Not nearly on the level of Path to Nowhere (the only gacha I've been able to pull literally every new unit that has come out, and even the occasional dupe), but it's reasonably fair for the most part. Not the best, but not the worst. It's still not without it's share of gacha scumminess though. And even though it's tamer than most, the RNG relic system that the game has copied from so many other gacha games is still something that needs to die.

Hoyoverse keep making games because they are making billions. Because their games are actually good. I really suggest you give it a try. It's free to play, no paywall when it comes to story progression, well thought out story, professional VA, and gacha is totally optional. Hell even the game will give you free gacha every now and then.
How have you never heard of forza?
One thing im never a fan of is when people loom over others with their morals on gacha but then still play them if they're from a series they like enough and use that as justification. Kingdom hearts and final fantasy 7 fans know exactly what i mean. I can at least appreciate when people are consistent on what they believe.
