I'm pretty sure all K24A2 and K24A3 will benefit from a 50 deg gear. Its quite a bit of work to put one in. If you are doing the oil pump its probably worth it otherwise it might not be as its lots of work.
So I've got a 2006 Accord Euro with the 6 speed manual to swap into my EG, and I'm going to go over the basics to refresh a high mileage motor before it goes in. Oil pump, timing chain tensioner (seems like a good idea), and the VTEC cam gear swap - what's the 50 degree gear from, a TypeR?
So I also have a jdm k24a 3 lobe vtec and have the type s oil pump kit and 50 degree VTC cam gear. My question is, if/when I install the new oil pump and 50• cam gear, is it safe to start the car up, load a base tune and drive it miles to a tuner or get an e-tune? Do I have to immediately limit the amount advance/retard in Hondata for the VTC cam gear or will it be safe to start up, idle, and possibly drive a bit?
Yeah I assume kpro would be the same. You can just load the basemap and it will use the factory vtc timing. You'll be safe to drive to a tuner. I'm pretty sure the base maps are all pretty rich and conservative on timing too
I did and haven't had an issue. There was a thread on the k20 forum where a guy cut one up to make sure there was enough clearance and didn't believe it was an issue. Also gains you about 25mm ground clearance. K20 might be safer (as it is very close to the bottom of the sump) if you are worried.
@@teamaxlestands such i know.. k24 manual can use 2.5" piping above. . But k24 auto use 2.5" piping below. If auto use. 3" piping. Result top speed very fail. Airflow to fast and feel heavy driving
Hi, i need to tune my car after install the 50degre vtc cam?
Don't need it, but there will be no gains without a tune mate.
How do I confirm if the K24 I have will require or benefit from a 50 degree VTEC cam gear?

@@obzai yeah so K24a3. Yeah it would be of some benefit and any intake cam gear from any (including base model) DC5 Integra is what you want.

@@teamaxlestands ok cool that’s kind of what I figured but wasn’t 100% sure. Thnx!
I’m wondering… k24a 3 lobe 25 degree cam gear with use stock prb ecu?
Can you re-use the k24 oil pan after k20 oil pump installed ?

Thanks mate any info will help
K24A what use size for piping exhaust ?
I'm running 2.5 inch but i've heard there are power gains right up to 3inch. Its just harder to keep a 3inch quiet.
